May 13, 2010I haven't had any luck finding the answer yet. My problem is that I want to be able to update the dataformatstring on a gridview column at runtime. For example, I switch from displaying # of units to cost of said units... and I want to change the format of the column to {0:c}. It seems like it should be a simple task.

Jan 20, 2010I apologize for the odd title. I've been trying to figure out how to do this and can't quite put it into words. Basically, I need to try to display a GridView with a whole bunch of columns (37 in one case) in two "rows" of columns. More or less.
So instead of this:

I'd like something like this:

As in the example there can be multiple rows returned which all need to be displayed. I'm trying to stop a very large horizontal scroll bar being required. I've been searching as much as I can but haven't found anything that fits what I'm looking for.

Nov 28, 2010I have a DataGrid that is bound to a data set. Down column 1, I need each row in the column to be a link to another page or just plain text - which I can determine post-bind.
e.g.

Can this be done in a DataGrid? I need to give the user an indication in the cell that there's a link versus no link to another page.
How To Prevent From Changing The Boolean Variable To The Original Value
Dec 2, 2010I change the value of the boolean variable to true but then I have to refresh the page by clicking another button or two. Once the ASP.NET page refreshes, the value returns back to false when I want it to be true. How can I prevent it from changing the boolean variable to the original value and keep it as true. Jun 12, 2010I have a repeater control that generates a dynamic menu in an unordered list format. I have given each <li> item an id that includes a value from my database to make them unique:

One of the values that gets added to my list ids will match my querystring, making it the current page. So therefore I would like to highlight this to the user by changing the css class of the relevant li element. In my code behind I have created a string variable that takes the querystring value and modifies it to match the id. So for example my variable is "category7" - and I also have an li item on my page with an id of "category" How would I go about matching these two things in my VB and adding a class to the li element where the id = my variable.

The different currency types will be held in a database and a user can then select which currency they wish to use. The easiest way I can see doing this would be to check what the currency value is and dynamically change the culture to match the currency, thus I could continue to use the string str = String.Format("{0:C}", revenue);format. I am open to other suggestions but this just seemed the most logical to me.

Nov 16, 2010I am realitivly new to c# and I am trying to do something that is probably simple, but I might just be over thinking it.What I want to do is have an image change based on a return of a sql data call. I am using a stored procedure that reads values and uses a case to switch between red, yellow, green for status. For example, I have nine items that the SP goes through and returns one of the colors. What I would need is if it detects a red, change the image to red and so forth. Now, when I execute the SP in C# I can get the data but it always just reads the last value. So if it had a red in there and the next one is a green, it uses the green. I even thought about reading the colors and using an IF statement adding the values to determine which color should be used.

We have 3 locations, so each podcast contains three columns, one for each location. In each column is the date it was shown at each location, or null if it wasn't shown there. Most of the time, I'm selecting podcasts for a specific location, which is easy enough:

But what if I want to select them all? I want "Date" to always be the Hudson location, but if Hudson is null, I want it to be the date of the location it was shown at: AuroraDate or StowDate.

I want to compare 6 values entered by user to those 6 integer columns and if in any row 3 or more columns match user's input Primary key of that table is returned..
I have tried using queries, cursor, nested loops and i am still unable to achieve my results..
