SQL Server :: Set Auto Expired For Records In Database?

Jan 13, 2011

I have a table which stores records about a promotion programs. For each record, there are different status such as Begin, Successful, Unsucessful, Expired and there are PromotionDate and PromotionExpiredDate. I am just wondering how I can set each promotion to auto expired (auto change the status of each promotion status to Expired) when the current date is bigger than the PromotionExpiredDate.

Merge The Records From The Database On The Local Machine With The Records On The Remote Server?

Mar 31, 2010

The website is over half way done and the functionality for the blog is (except for adding posts) is already implemented and working correctlyI have a SQLExpress 2008 backendBlog posts are rendered on the page with full HTML markup within a label control.

All of the above is done and working. Though I am essentially new to creating websites with ASP.NET, CSS and SQL, I am sure that I could simply carry on and make a login page with some controls that would allow me to add records (blog posts) directly to the database on the host server. However, I am fearful of doing this because I know that malicious code can be passed in this way. Also, because of my lack of knowledge, the only way that I know of to pass the code from a control to the database is to disable validation for the page the control is on. Without a doubt I do not want to do that.

So what are my options for getting blog posts into the database? Is it safest for me to fully create the post in html and update a copy of the database that resides on my local machine? If I do it this way, how can I merge the records from the database on the local machine with the records on the remote server?

Inserting Records From Multiple Computers In The Same Database At The Same Time In SQL Server 2005?

Nov 12, 2010

I have a web portal designed in ASP.NET in which we ask customers to enter the data. On the click of submit button all i have done is, just read the data and called a stored procedure which inserts that into a table. There seems to be a problem in SQL Server 2005 while inserting the data from multiple computers at the same time. We have tested in our lab with three computers, result is that we get the data inserted successfully in only one machine and on the other two machines we get error on page. I have used transactions in the stored procedure and also tried setting the isolation levels to READ_UNCOMMITTED, SERIALIZABLE and SNAPSHOT. Nothing seems to work properly.

Connecting To Access 2007 Database Linked To SQL Server And Pulling Records?

Jun 10, 2010

I have a issue where I am trying to pull some records from an Access 2007 DB that has linked tables from a SQL 2005 Server. When I go to do this the browser IE8 just sits there and does nothing. THe little progress bar at the bottom moves about half way then that is it. It will sit there and show no errors or do anything. I have experience with connecting and manipulating Access and SQL server DB's but not through Access with linked tables from SQL Server. Here is test code below:

[Code]....

This does not produce an error or anything. The browser just sits there and sits there. Is there something I am missing?

Configuration :: Session Expired Very Fast / Avoid Change Database From MS Access To SQL?

Aug 9, 2010

I am currently using the brinkster hosting (Pro Package) but recently they change my hosting to the new one and after that I got an error for sometimes and my session also expired very fast. Below is the feedback from Brinkster.

Thank you for letting us know about your recent experience with your application. From what we are able to find regarding your application problems, they appear to be related to your ms access database. Due to limitations of ms access, you may want to consider updating the database running your website to mysql. A Mysql database is available to your account at no additional charge.

MS access begins to experience issues like database locks (which is what appears to be happening to your application) when there are more than 3 or 4 concurrent connections to the database for reads. MS access is also only able to have one write connection open at any given moment. MS access databases are more susceptible to corruption and data loss than database application built for large application use and Enterprise or corporate use.

When you were hosted on the previous server, your IIS application pool was getting reset many times per day. This action was in effect unlocking your ms access database from its locked state. After we moved you to the new system and raised your memory utilization limit, your application does not receive resets more than one or two times a week. I have lowered your memory utilization from 200 to 100 in an effort to have your application reset more often, unlocking your database if it has began to cause issues.

My question is, do i have a choice to avoid change my database from MS Access to MySQL? Is MS Access database really have such problem as they mension or somethingelse happen on their server?

SQL Server :: Management Studio 2008 Expired?

Sep 17, 2010

We use SQL Server 2005 and 2008 here at my workplace. In the past, whenever we setup a new developer workstation we would install Visual Studio, then install Management Studio by downloading the SQL Server trial, and installing only the tools. The tools (in the past) were setup so you could use them indefinitely, it was only the database engine itself that was time-limited.

With SQL Server 2008 that has apparently changed. I tried to start Management Studio 2008 on my workstation today, and got an error stating that "evaluation period has expired." I'm assuming we built this workstation the same as all the previous ones we've built, but now that I'm thinking about it I'm wondering if possible Management Studio was installed along with Visual Studio... is that possible? At any rate, my question is--how do we properly install Management Studio so that it won't "expire"? We don't need to install the database engine, we just want to install Management Studio.

Auto Increment Feature In Database?

Nov 2, 2010

I use SQL Server and when I create a new table I make a specific field an auto increment
primary key. The problem is some people told me making the field an auto increment for the primary key means when deleting any record (they don't care about the auto increment field number) the field increases so at some point - if the type of my field is integer for example - the range of integer will be consumed totally and i will be in trouble.

So they tell me not to use this feature any more. The best solution is making this through the code by getting the max of my primary key then if the value does not exist the max will be 1 other wise max + 1.Any suggestions about this problem? Can I use the auto increment feature?I want also to know the cases which are not preferable to use auto increment ..and the alternatives...note :: this question is general not specific to any DBMS , i wanna to know is this true also for DBMSs like
