I want to populate members of a local computer group on a webpage and allow the user to add / remove users of that remote computer from a group say Administrators or Remote Users Group.
The application pool will be running with a user who is admin on all remove systems.
I have an asp.net website that requires users to login using their Active Directory credentials. All users of the website have AD accounts. Some of the users are at remote locations and share a common computer login (I know this is not recommended but it is what it is, I have no say in that). Every so often a user will log into my website and click the Remember Passwod box which causes the next person that comes along to not be prompted to log in. All users are on IE 7. I have tried having them go into tools and deleting the cookies, saved passwords, etc but when they go to my website they are still not being prompted to log in. I have recently migrated to IIS 7 and I understand there is a way to have the user enter the site through a custom form but I have not gotten that far yet. How can I make sure the users password is removed from IE?

I was trying to block an IP for all the web applications on our Win Server 2003 R2 and during the changes I enabled "Secure Server (Require Security)" in "IP Security Policies on A Local Computer". I was doing that through Remote Desktop and my session was locked immediately (although I have an administrator rights). Now I cannot connect to Remote Desktop again (it doesn't even reach the login prompt) and my web applications doesn't work for any IP. Any ideas how I can get out of this weird situation?

As far as the aspx pages if i publish them to a zip drive copy it to my laptop and go into IIS and define a new virtual directory to point where my pages are that should work RIGHT??

View 2 RepliesI've been a VB programmer for years, and friend asked me to write a program that does data storage and is executable from PC & MAC browsers. It seems like I need ASP.NET for this, so I tried to write a server-side 'hello world' ASP.NET program. I did this using VWD 2010 Express, and after successfully 'building' the website, it works great if I view it on the development machine. But when I copy it to my web server (running on a Windows XP Tablet machine) and try to view default.aspx, instead of getting a nicely-formatted page, my browser (IE8) is displaying the HTML source code. I tried hosting the site on both Apache and IIS , and I'm getting the same results.
1. What am I doing wrong?
2. Is ASP.NET the best platform for building a database-based application that can be viewed from both PC's and Macs? If so, should this work from iPads / Safari as well?

We have many different clients, and each client can have multiple user accounts.Right now, we have user settings set up on the ASP project, and a WinForms application can see these settings, depending on which user logs into the winforms application. They are specific to the user. I want to make them specific to the client, so users can be in "groups" by their client, and all users in the group would see/update the same settings.

I have an asp.net (FW 3.5) web app that runs on an internal network. One specific page needs to "report" in to the web server that it is active and not locked up. I need to be able to run a script (or something) at the client to report the pc's computer name in that report. I cannot find a method that does this. I found several things that would report the WAN IP or host name, but this appears to all be for external facing sites.

My tasks are 1) enabling Olga to download multiple invoices into her local computer WITHOUT prompting any dialog box. 2) printing these files then automatically by default local printer from her desktop computer. How is possible this? She has birthday soon. No gift could be better than this solution as she has to open each pdf separately and hit print button about 40 times a day.

I have an ASP.Net 4.0 web application which very frequently loads data from the database and does heavy calculations on it. I want to cache this loaded and prepared data in a central cache that can be accessed by every user and computer who uses the application.
Simple use-case:

Problem: Locally I'm using path settings to xml files etc. different from the remote paths. So each time before I publish my site I have to set the remote paths explicitely commenting out the specific lines of code.
