Cache Sharing - Between Different Users Accessing The Site On Different Computer At The Same Time

I have an ASP.Net 4.0 web application which very frequently loads data from the database and does heavy calculations on it. I want to cache this loaded and prepared data in a central cache that can be accessed by every user and computer who uses the application.
Simple use-case:
User 1 accesses webpage, cache is empty, data is loaded/calculated, data is cached
User 2 accesses webpage, cache contains data, data loaded from cache
User 3 accesses webpage, cache contains data, data loaded from cache
User 1 reloads webpage, cache contains data, data loaded from cache
Cache expires
User 3 refreshes webpage, cache is empty, data is loaded/calculated, data is cached
I know that ASP.Net has a built-in cache mechanism. What I don't know is whether it can be shared between different users accessing the site on different computer at the same time. I would also like to know how the system behaves in a web farm environment.

i am still relatively new to web development and have been encountering some issues when multiple users click a button at the same time.
i was wondering what could be causing this as i have already removed all static variables realiseing that was a mistake and replaced them with viewstates were needed then sessions when moving across pages

I have been trying to fix this issue for several hours now, and I was hoping to find out if someone can shed some more light on it. I get the above error on ONLY ONE virtual root in my IIS 5.1 installation. I have other web sites I am developing in .NET 2.0 and 3.5 and they seem to work fine. This is a development workstation with only 1 user, and I get this error continuallyevery time I access only 1 of my web sites - even after rebooting the machine. It makes no difference what order I access the web sites in - this one always fails and the other ones always succeed.
Note that the web site does not use frames and the changes I made to it yesterday (just adding some javascript and a few span elements to support BuySafe's new 3-in-1 guarantee program) were very minor.OS: Windows XP/IIS 5.1Dev Environment: Visual Studio 2005/.NET 2.0Browser IIS 7.0Every page on the internet I have read about this seems to indicate it must be something with the "HTTP Keep Alive" setting. I disabled this setting but it made no difference at all.I keep full backups of my machine and I restored my OS/IIS partition from a few days ago (including the full IIS metabase), but I still continue to get the same error.The error suddenly started occuring today - I just made some updates on the web site and deployed them to production yesterday (and neither my test or production servers are exhibiting this behavior). It happened after a power failure and my UPS software forced my Lenovo T500 laptop to sleep. When the power failure occurred, both VS 2005 and a browser with this web site were open on the machine. The machine woke up and the programs were all still running, but I was no longer to access this web site.I had a problem like this years ago and I ended up rebuilding the machine from scratch. We have about 50 web-sites, running in different application pools, that read from a common cache database (using Microsoft Enterprise Library Caching application block). We currently have a console application which populates the cache at 3AM every morning. However, we want to get rid of this application and get the cache to automatically refresh expired items, using the ICacheItemRefreshAction interface.
We were going to create our cache object in the Global.asax of each of the 50 web-sites. However, my concern is that if we set a cache-expiration policy in Global.asax, that each of the 50 web-sites will trigger a refresh action, causing the data to be re-cached 50 times. We don't want only 1 web-site to set the expiration policies, as then the 49 other web-sites will have a dependency on that 1 web-site, and that's an architecture no-no.

We have several virtual applications inside one main (root) application. How to share Cache between this virtual application and main application if they are located (and always will be) on the same physical machine? By Cache i assuming System.Runtime.Caching or System.Web.Caching. Hope that i do not need to setup AppFabric Caching for this...

I have an asp.net solution in which there are two web application projects (client website and admin website) and also a class liabrary project in the same solution . In the live production server, the admin web app is within the client app (eg: client site= [URL] and admin site=[URL]). A class (with static variables) in class liabrary is userd to cache data. My problem is that i cannot get the changes to the static cache by one web project reflected to the other (becoz, i think, they seem to load in seperate appdomains).

I would like to create several applications mapped with a common applicaton Users Accounts. The aim is to isolate logical parts. The problem is always the same : how to communicate easily between users db and appli db ? Do I continue to use my poor View mechanism from SQL Server (db1.Users.UserId inner join db2.Users.UserId) or is it a better way with super MVC?

I'm developing a web application in asp.net using C# and need to access the command prompt of the server computer.
After accessing it I need to run a "ABC.bat" file in the server computer which is in folder "E:Test".
The absolute path of the server is "\MyServer"
PS: I need to run the ABC.bat file on the server machine as the bat file runs couple of more applications which are licensed to that server machine.

we host catalog data and UI for our clients. we do not build entire web site for them. so for the time being client puts an iframe and points URL to our hosting site. it was working fine but now just because of iframe they are lossing SEO.so my question is how to achieve my goal without iframe.

I have an asp.net website that requires users to login using their Active Directory credentials. All users of the website have AD accounts. Some of the users are at remote locations and share a common computer login (I know this is not recommended but it is what it is, I have no say in that). Every so often a user will log into my website and click the Remember Passwod box which causes the next person that comes along to not be prompted to log in. All users are on IE 7. I have tried having them go into tools and deleting the cookies, saved passwords, etc but when they go to my website they are still not being prompted to log in. I have recently migrated to IIS 7 and I understand there is a way to have the user enter the site through a custom form but I have not gotten that far yet. How can I make sure the users password is removed from IE?

I have tried to create an asp web site with VS 2010, using VB code behind the Default.aspx form. It works fine on my local development computer with Win 7, but it will not work when I try to access it on my web site after I post it there. If I create a similar asp file with VWD 2008, using the html style code (which I do not know how to use) and post it to the web site, it works fine.

I've been using an asp 3.0 widget for this purpose , but it been broken for a while and rather than get it back up, I'd love o get a native asp.net solution, can any one point me in the right direction pleaseI once wrote some asp.net code to do this, but the permissions on the server, which I found to be common every where prevented asp.net native picture upload, perhaps i got it wrong, well now I wanna fix itI need the code to work in a shared hosting IIS 7 environment. I have an application that uses the ASPNET role provider.My SQL Server crashed so I took a backup of the database and restored it to a new SQL Server and changed the db connection string to that server.The web site runs but no users can login to the site.Is there something that I should have done when the db was on the other server?

Normally i have a static class that reads and writes to HttpContext.Current.Cache
However since adding threading to my project, the threads all get null reference exceptions when trying to retrieve this object.
Is there any other way i can access it, workarounds or another cache i can use?

I am creating a graphical tool in silverlight which reads data from multiple files and database.
i dont want to call the database again and again. i want to retrieve the data when required and keep it safe somewhere so if the user or any other user visits the same page, they can then access the data.
i want to use application state of asp.net Cache["Object"] but in Silverlight? what is the best methodolgy?

Is there an easy way to cache ASP.NET whole page for anonymous users only (forms authentication used)?
Context: I'm making a website where pages displayed to anonymous users are mostly completely static, but the same pages displayed for logged-in users are not.
Of course I can do this by hand through code behind, but I thought there might be a better/easier/faster way.

For first the idea: "My WebApp needs an chronometerto be shared by users and all users will se the same value in cronometer. When a user clicks on a button, the cronometer needs to be restarted and all users will need to see that!"

i'm developing a "small" warehouse-management WebApplication for few users(5-10 parralel) but with a complex authorization system(checking if pages,menus,TabPanels, UserControls and even single controls are visible or enabled) and permanent and frequent access. Because i've only limited experiences with the ASP.Net MembershipProvider, i'm unsure what's the best approach for following goal:
I want to hold all users, roles and frequently used masterdata in the Cache(in a Dataset). Hence every readonly access should be faster and causes less traffic than always using the database. On updates,deletes and inserts i would update the cached dataset and also the database.Can i use or extend the SqlMembershipProvider to achieve this goal and if possible how?Should i use the stored-procedures from asp.net or simply use the standard CreateUser, GetUser, DeleteUser-functionality? Does this approach makes sense at all?

I'm working on a public site that soon will not longer be 100% public. Paid users will be able to access 100% of the features while "anonymous" users will access a reduced version. The problem is that anonymous users and paid users will access the same pages, but they'll see different things. I wonder about how to keep using cache for all pages. I have to 100% sure that I show the correct content for each type of user. Will be extremely bad to show a cached version of the paid site to an anonymous user (and the other way around). Preferably, without adding anything to the url to differentiate user type.
