My web app has 3roles, I need to lock down certain sitemap menu items based on the users role and what I'm using isn't working.
my roles are Supervisor, manager, and User.
[Code]....
I only want those roles to see those menu options, I do not want someone with a user role to see those options at all. Currently if I log into my site with a user role, I'm seeing everything on the menu (via the sitemap).
I hv created menu using sitemap xmldatasource now i want to display that based on Category or Roles. I have Created 4 Category in my sql Server 2005. when particular user logged in based on his Category menu nodes should display.
I have a website created in ASP.Net 3.5(C#) and I have configued asp.net defalut membership provider for it.There are 5 different type of roles in this site. Now I want to display a small role based (i.e. depending upon the logged in user's role) menu whenever a user log-in to the site. For this I have added the code in the OnPageLoad() event of the master page, here is the code -
[Code]....
Now I wanted to know Is this code is logcally correct? And what is the security level of this code?
I have role assignments on both the first and second level of my menus within my sitemap file. The first level works fine, and I only see items assigned to my role. But roles assignments seem to have no effect on the second level. It seems like if you have access to the first level, you have access to everything on the second level. Is this correct?
From my sitemap (either a SalesRep or an Administrator can see everything underneath): <siteMapNode title="Administration" roles="SalesRep,Administrator" description="Admin" > <siteMapNode title="CompanyMaintenance" roles="SalesRep" url="~/Admin/CompanyManagement.aspx" /> <siteMapNode title="Initialize Roles" roles="Administrator" url="~/Admin/Roles.aspx"/> </siteMapNode>
I have a site that was working fine with security. I needed to create my own RoleProvider to give the ability to add Groups to roles based on certain criteria which I successfully did.
The problem is, since then, my main site (a Single Sign On Site) will not show the proper menu items for my users roles. The funny part is that right after I publish it, or restart the application, it works fine. Once it has been running for awhile, I lose my menu items.
If I manually type in the URL to go to one of the pages that I cannot see the menu item and perform some function, all of a sudden all my menu items reappear.
I have a menu with 3 Items; Home, Begineers and Experts. Menu is implemented in a masterpage and I build 3 more separate webpages which inherit the master.Userneeds to login and I store the User category in a Session["Category"].Can I disable the menu item "Expert" depending on the Session["Category"]? ( that is need to disable the menu when category is not equal to Expert)
Usually in sub-folder we will limit the access right to some roles and this feature requires pre-defined database schema.
However, if i still want to use this role feature of asp.net, but I do not like the pre-define database schema, I want to extract role information from my own database table and bind it to the role.
I am trying to style the menu control to allow the menu items to float to the right of the container, however I am unable to do so as whenever I am styling the a, ul or li it keeps getting overidded by asp.net and floats everything left.
What I want is to show menu items Administrator or show user menu items.Show menu items using login...How I can do it with role provider, control menu and siteMap in masterpage?

I have a menu control which is based on a sitemap as below.
However whilst the security aspect is working i.e. users cannot access a page without being in the correct role the menu does not seem to hide any of the menu items.
I really want users only to see the help menu item before they log in, then after this point they should see all items unless they are External in which case the Uploads and Admin Items should be hidden.
Is this not possible or have I set up my sitemap wrong?
If I remove roles="*" from the first node no menu items are visible at all even after login?

I'm using asp.net and css to style a master page with navigation at the top. I was hoping to add the login status control in as a menu item but it is not allowed. Can someone point me in the right direction? When I post my code on this forum do I have to include tags?
I am working in a product which is developing using telerik rad controls. Site have a master page which includes rad toolbar for main menus like file, edit etc.
When the site worked in IE 8 the half of the menu got inside of the content page. I changed the compatability settings of IE 8 to comptabality view and it solved. So i can view the site correctly. But in firefox also have the same issue. There not any compactability settings like this ( i think). So how can solve this? I mean wat issue is this ? Any css issue or any control behaviour?
