I would like to identify if an email address comes from a public provider or is from an established business. I consider public email addresses to be things such as:
Open email service providers, such as gmail, hotmail and yahoo. Anonymization services, such as mailinator or dispostable.
I'm aware that there is no foolproof way to do this, and obviously any list based solution would require constant updates.
Is there a public listing or .NET library that can do this for me?
As working with ip address in Sql Server needs some Efforts than mysql b'cos it Doesn't has INET_ATON() functionality. even though we create a Function to do that. But as per Requirement if ip address and postid should be Unique with One Post Question. than its some more complex to implement. so i need a solution without compromising my Disk space, 4 Tiny int field for ip address can be used but comparison will be more Hard to achieve. b'cos it is a composite primary key.
Is there a standard way to create unique web page address in ASP.NET? I'm sending surveys to customers and will be including a link to the web page. For example:
http://www.mysurveypages.foo/survey/UniqueID
I would then customize the survey based on who I sent it to. I know it can be done by passing in a unique parameter to a page but I curious about doing it this way.
I'm creating a website with sql server db (built in membership database). I design it best possible. Im reluctant to use text fields as identifiers, but this is pretty much my first sql server db.
1. The user registers himself, at the same time registering his company/organisation. I dont think many of them will have the need to register themselves to other companys (N:N) but you never know (anyway not a main concern at the moment).
2. This user becomes a superuser (level1), with the ability to register other users to the same company (level2 users). Finally level1 can register level3 users to the same company.
So you see the identifier will be everywhere in the sql commands. There are quite a few N:N relations as well, which I guess slows it down even more. The selections typically retrieves a few hundred to a few thousand posts, but like I said, many will be in N:N relations.
I am using a form to add and edit record of database.
In Add case my email box has no value. I have used customservervalidation to check the given email address with previous database records.
In Edit case my email box is populated with data from database.
When i click save button in both cases my customservervalidation method invokes and checks the given value. it works fine for new/add case but in edit case it checks with itself also and says duplicate email... pointing own record...
I know how to identify the current user during a specific browsing session and can thus control the data, etc, made visible to that individual user. I also know how to find out how many users logged in within the recent past, using:
Membership.GetNumberOfUsersOnline() .... which I believe calculates the number of users who have logged in within the past 15 minutes. However, I would like to know if there is any way to identify all the users who are logged in at a point in time. Is this possible?
Our solutions requires validating users against a custom database. This also includes roles which dictates what he user can do in the system. What is the best way to implement implement security, is it to use Windows Identity Foundation or the default Membership Provider and Role Provider that comes with .net?
I am using ASP.Net Forms based security with the login control. On my site a user will make a number of selections that will be written to a database. Is their a unique user id that I can get from the AspNetSqlProvider that I can use to id users in my database? When a user logs back in after being away I want to be able to retireve the users information using this id.
I am creating a site that will host my virtual resume and would like to set it up so the visitor would enter a simple code to advance past the default page. I am not looking to create a unique login for each visitor, I just want to control who sees the information online. I have used the web controls in visual studio express for for creating logins on other sites, which included additional support code like "User.Identity.IsAuthenticated == false" to redirect visitors on other sites but I am looking to see if there is a more simple way of handling this.
I realize that user names are unique, but is there another identifier associated with the username? If there is, how do I find out what it is for the user who is currently logged in?
i have a web application with form identification agains ActiveDirectory. The user is added to the aspnetdb and then we add his roles and profile.heres my question. If you have a user with "abcdef" for his sAMAccountName and then this user quit the job and someone else came in and we give him the SAME sAMAccountName, how aspnet will react? i guest it will see that the sAMAccountName already exist in the aspnetdb and will use it? if its true, then i will have a problem that the new user will inherit the old user access and profile!how can i solve this? i know theres a objectGUID attribute in AD that i can use but how can i use it with aspnetdb?

i have an aspx page which on page load needs to populate a text box with the current users email address (user is in Active Directory), any body know how to retrieve the email address from Active Directory, i have read this article on the web but am a bit confused
string userName = Environment.UserName; string domainName = Environment.UserDomainName; //Set the correct format for the AD query and filter string ldapQueryFormat = @"LDAP://{0}.com/DC={0},DC=com"; string queryFilterFormat = @"(&(samAccountName={0})(objectCategory=person)(objectClass=user))"; SearchResult result = null; using(DirectoryEntry root = newDirectoryEntry(rootQuery)) { using(DirectorySearcher searcher = new DirectorySearcher(root)) { searcher.Filter = searchFilter; SearchResultCollection results = searcher.FindAll(); result = (results.Count != 0) ? results[0] : null; } } string primaryEmail = result.Properties["mail"][0] as string;
There is no defintion of rootQuery- so not sure what that is, or a definition for searchFilter
