Web Forms :: Checking Unique Email Address Against Database Record In Edit Case?
Mar 1, 2010
I am using a form to add and edit record of database.
In Add case my email box has no value. I have used customservervalidation to check the given email address with previous database records.
In Edit case my email box is populated with data from database.
When i click save button in both cases my customservervalidation method invokes and checks the given value. it works fine for new/add case but in edit case it checks with itself also and says duplicate email... pointing own record...
I'm trying to error handle a registration aspx/c# page on my application and want to run a check whether the email address that a user has tried to register already exists as the email address is used as a primary key in my database.
I have tried IF NOT EXISTS/IF EXISTS but these dont give the desired effect so was wondering if there was another way around it?
I'm creating a website with sql server db (built in membership database). I design it best possible. Im reluctant to use text fields as identifiers, but this is pretty much my first sql server db.
1. The user registers himself, at the same time registering his company/organisation. I dont think many of them will have the need to register themselves to other companys (N:N) but you never know (anyway not a main concern at the moment).
2. This user becomes a superuser (level1), with the ability to register other users to the same company (level2 users). Finally level1 can register level3 users to the same company.
So you see the identifier will be everywhere in the sql commands. There are quite a few N:N relations as well, which I guess slows it down even more. The selections typically retrieves a few hundred to a few thousand posts, but like I said, many will be in N:N relations.
I have a page that inserts a record to an sql database and I would like to do the following:
(i) Check if a record already exist before trying do an insert
(ii) If a record exist, the page should be able to inform/display a message in a textbox informing the user that the record already exist.
I have seen a number of post on the internet that suggest that one possible solution is to write a sproc and use the T-sql IF EXIST function. However, I have NOT seen a complete code showing (a) how this can be done (b) how to call the sproc from an asp page (c) and MORE IMPORTANTLY how to display a message informing a user that a record already exist i.e. when the record already exist in the database.
Actually i am developing a web application for leave,,if the employee wants to take a leave, the employee working under the senior people,if the employee 001 wants to take a leave,if the employee 001 logins in the web application,if he is working in sales dept, automatically this mail is forwarded to sales manager..like wise for all the employee..if the employee works in accounts dept, whenever the employee logins in the web application,to email address automatically change to the accounts manager..i dont no how to do this
i'm attempting to insert cx information into a database and then mail that information to the sales team. I'm using the DetailsView Control to accomplish the SQL Insert Command -- Success I'm using a SendMail command when the Insert button is Clicked to send a hard coded email to the sales team -- Success I can not send the User inputed information into the email -- FAIL
Example Code:
[Code]....
To be redundant -- If I send "body" by itself the system works, it falls apart when I try to add Name.Text where Name is the ID of my textbox in the form.
I am hardly struggling with just ONE query in C# ( MS SQL).
When i do a select statement like:
string email = txtEmail.Text.ToString().Trim(); string selectSQL = "SELECT * FROM contacts WHERE email='" + email +"'";
I get the following message:
The multi-part identifier email@address.xxx could not be bound. This message shows up only on the email field, anything else is okay. I guess it has something todo with the '@' symbol on the email address in the DataBase?
I want to validate the email id in clients side, so that to prevent the postback of page to server, and every user should registered with email id... so i want to validate email id at client side.. i.e. should be check it is exist in the database or not.
I am unsure how to go about my task. I need to get the email property from asp.net's profile class.
I am loading a formview based on username stored in an sql table. I want to get the email address from the users profile based on the matching username fields
In pseudo code:
Get profile.emailaddress where username.text = profile.username
I have seen that when some one posts a message on my facebook wall, I get a mail and I can reply to that wall post by just replying that email and my wall gets updated. I want to implement this feature in an ASP.Net website of mine but don't know how can I accomplish this task.
In addition to the process of regex syntax validation of Email Addresses entered by users, I'm trying to check if the entered email address is a real one and does exist? The best I could achieve is to "Ping" the host the email address is associated with. But there are some other terms in the industry like Handshaking with Email Server, etc.not necessarily with 100% confirmation accurary!
here is sender email but i want there wasn't any email address.I mean i want when users click on button and send me an email there wasn't any email address in sender details.
Is there a standard way to create unique web page address in ASP.NET? I'm sending surveys to customers and will be including a link to the web page. For example:
http://www.mysurveypages.foo/survey/UniqueID
I would then customize the survey based on who I sent it to. I know it can be done by passing in a unique parameter to a page but I curious about doing it this way.
I am building an email feature in my website (jobs site). By using this functionality, recruiters will be able to send emails to candidates. I want an option so that the user can also set 'From Address' and the email should be ANTI-SPAM compliant.
How me can validate a email textbox to take only valid email address if error occur it show the error message in this textbox or as a tooltip. because in the form there is no space to show error message.
