After a new user first registers at the website, I want to force them to first be approved by an admin before allowing them access to the full site. I created different roles in the ASP.net configuration tool that denies them access but the default setting allows them in. How do I go about this?

[DefaultValue(typeof(string), "string.Empty")]

When I add the user control to the page and call it without any properties:
<uc1:Usercontrol ID="uc" runat="server" />
the default values are not set and every property is 0 or null.
Not sure if this falls under security but I figured since its about logging in it might. Anyway. I would like to know if my approach is good. I have set up a login, the Login method is under the User Class which uses validation to my own database (not ASPNETDB). I would also like to set values to that user to use on each page such as a simple label on the home page that says "Hello [UserName]". Code is below, should I separate the User values into a different class? Also once i go to another page (called Home.aspx) I would like to set an ASP Panel to have the username in it. I created a new instance of the User class in Home.aspx but unsure what I would need to go to get this to work. Should I have some LoadUser method after a successful login?
View 1 RepliesI have some pages that need user to sign in. If not, I need to redirect user to signin page. I know this can be done by using some code like"<system.web><authorization><deny users="?"/></authorization></system.web>" in web.config.
But can I just write some code to do the same function?
like in page load method, I can check whether user is sign in, if user is not signed in yet, how can I redirect user to the login page by using code? and how can I stop sending the content of the page to user?
i have an administrators page that gets a list of the users that are members of my site and i want to display their profile each time i clikc on the user name.
In order to do so, i use the following code:

This way, the last activity date is updated and the IsUserLogedOn property is set to true, without the user actually enter the application (since it is a calculated value that depends on the last activity date). As a result, each time i click a user name to view his profile, the user seems to be loged in.
I would like to redirect the user to default page if he tries to copy paste an URL to browser. Like if i copy the url [URL] and paste it in the browser it should refirect me to default page.

i have a problem with the users authentication on my site. I made <authentication mode="Windows"> in my web.config. The LoginView shows "mycomputermyusername" if i request the page. So far as well. Now i want to login with a different username. Users are stored in an Active Directory. My questions: wich setting i have to do, that user's account and password checked by Active Directory? how can i force the system to make a new login? Logout doesn't work, i always see my on account.

My server regional and setting is English (US). Now my problem is
1) When user access to my system and his pc setting is English (UK), it will prompt and error
and after i debug i suspect it is because of Datetime conflict (dd/MM/yyyy and MM/dd/yyyy)
2) I cannot fix or limit my user to setting his/her pc regional setting to UK
So what can i do in my web application solve this issue?

I am trying to secure very mixed content that is located in an ASP.NET directory. For purposes of this question, it can be ~/MyApp/.
I want all of the content in the directory and its subdirectories restricted to authenticated users. The default.aspx page, though, should be accessible to everyone. This is the web.config in that directory:

Now if you are an unauthenticated user, everything works fine if you request [code]....
The problem occurs in that visitors do not always request "Default.aspx". We have a default document configured so that they get Default.aspx even if they just request "/MyApp". An authenticated user works fine, but an unauthenticated user is directed to the login page.
Now I know that essentially this happens because even though the request for "/MyApp/" will actually end up serving up "/MyApp/Default.aspx", the security system is only checking for "/MyApp/" since that is what I requested. That is then getting the default security for the directory.
How can you configure an exception to allow access when no particular file is requested in the directory??
Is there some dependency between DefaultDocumentModule and UrlAuthorizationModule? In this environment, the UrlAuthorizationModule has been removed and re-added in order to make sure it fires for non-managed requests. I would not expect that to change the order of execution, though, since UrlAuthorizationModule usually goes after DefaultDocument.
A workaround could be to set up the opposite security with the directory being open, and then trying to secure individual files. Because of the (changing) number of files, and extensions, etc, and the fact that you cannot use wildcards in a <location>, this is not really a workable solution for me.
Is there a way of setting the default unchecked value of a checkbox? Am not using a databound control. This is passing data from a form and would like it to pass false as opposed to null when unchecked.

I have two login control in the index page of my website,each of two different usertypes. there are two user types brands and creatives.the branded user will log in to brands bin(brandsbin.aspx) the Creative user will sign in to creativebin(creativebin.aspx) i am using forms authentication for signin. so i am confused here to to rediret to default path for each user types. how to set default page for each user types. in the web config file i have added like this
