I have a web app, can upload images when running it on the local development machine, but when runnign it on WebServer 2008, it gives me an error saying "access is denied". View 3 RepliesWe have a cient we are stting up that has 2 separate physical servers, one that is the web server the other the database server. Using impersonation we have been able to get the website to connect and retrieve data from the sql server so that part is not an issue. The problem is I have a windows service application that must be installed on the web server (as it process files downloaded to an ftp site) and it must be able to connect and write to the sql server as well.We tried adding a system.web block with the impersonation stuff to the app.config file which of course did not work. Can anyone tell me what/how we need to configure this properly?

The application uses HttpContext.Current.User.Identity.Name to get the logged-in user. Here impersonate is turned off.Right now, we are move to Windows 2008 RC2 where this Windows Authentication problem arised. I have Digest Authentication and Windows Authentication enabled. I just downloaded and installled the Microsoft Windows Azure SDK yesterday for the first time and I am having issues running the application as I all I am getting is 503 errors. I run Windows Server 2008 R2 on my development machine and even tested it on another co-workers 2008 R2 and couldn't even compile the application. He got this error instead "A problem occurred while trying to set the "References" parameter for the IDE's in-process compiler. Error HRESULT E_FAIL has been returned from a call to a COM component."
From within my Windows Server 2008 R2 Hyper-V Virtual Windows 7 x86 enviroment, I was able to successfully build and run the Windows Azure SDK and it even showed the base ASP.NET application.So my question is, does the Windows Azure SDK for Visual Studio 2010 w/ Visual Studio 2010 SP 1 installed not work under Microsoft Server 2008 R2?
I got an error about asp.net cannot find window emp folder, so I created one and gave the right permission and the problem went away. Three days later same problem happened and I went in and couldn't find my temp folder. This is on a live server so is there a reason for my windows temp folder gone out of the blue? Is it possible that my server host company does some maintenance that cleans up the folder? Also, what is the difference between NT AUTHORITYNETWORK SERVICE and servernameNETWORK SERVICE?

I am getting really sick of it.was working fine for the last year until an update to MS Office 2007 caused a lot of problems (automatic update). After checking posts here, I removed it completely. No change. I then tried all the things I could find on other posts, also no change. Today, I removed VS and the Web Authoring Component and re-installed. Still no go.
Does anyone have a fix for this problem. It seems that it has been around a long time, but is still giving problems. I even saw one suggestion to reformat the drive! You've got to be joking!

I am having problems getting the security.aspx to load up on my primary development computer which is using Windows 7 Ultimate and Windows IE 8. Clicking on the ASP.NET Configuration icon from the IDE in the Solution Explorer within Visual Web Developer 2008 Express Edition loads up default.aspx with no problem. But when I click on the "Security" hyperlink to access "security.aspx" I get a message along the lines of "The configured SQL data source provider is not properly configured". It goes on to state a list of potential reasons for this problem. One that includes not having the proper credentials or permissions. Im almost 100% sure it has something to do with permissions because I can't even get to the "security.aspx" page from opening a new empty project. I have recently installed Visual Web Developer 2008 Express Edition on my laptop which is running Vista with all latest updates and this issue does "not" exists. I can click the "ASP.NET" icon, load up "default.aspx" and click "Security" and it loads the page with absolutely no issues.
I have discovered a weird workaround but I don't like having to do this. If I add the following lines to my "web.config" file from any given project I can get to the "security.aspx" page without getting any SQL messages about improper configuration or permissions.

Basically, what I have to do to get to the security page to load without error is add a remove statement and then I just cut'n'paste almost the exact same connectionString from machine.config in the Microsoft.netFrameWorkV2.0.5027config directory. This does away with the "Improperly configured SQL datasource message" and gets me a new error message along the lines of "Could not create a SQL instance". My memory is fuzzy on exact error messages since Im not at development computer right now. However, when I change the User Instance attribute from true to false, then I have success at last.
We have developed apllication in Microsoft VS 2008 and when we opening this same application with Microsoft VS 2010. Then it's asking to convert.
So can anybody tell me what it is converting exactly. Means it's open application in Microsoft VS 2010 and running properly also. But i am understanding whats happning while converting.
One customer set up an IIS 7 on a Windows 2008 machine. Forms Authentication works fine on my local IIS 6.0 and also on a shared server I used for testing. On the new machine there is no way no access the password protected area despite a succesful login.
Is there any settings I should ask my customer to check out on the server ? Or is there something different for IIS 7 I should see in my web.config ?
