Security :: Ading A Role Option In The CreateUserWizard With A Listbox Not Working

i am using the below code to provide a "select role option" when creating new users accounts. i am using a listbox to select multiple roles and submit it, it works when a sinlge role is selected but not when two or more are selected. The error i'm getting is "the user "someuser" is already in role "first_rolethatwasselected"

CreateUserWizard is creating dupicate user while assigning Role.How can we assign Role without duplicating user record? I've observed ApplicationID for assigning Role is Differenent than Creating New User, so when ever Role assigning comes in, it creates same user again with new UserID. Is it related to Web.Config in some way? As when I try to create user from "VisualStudio/Website/ASP.net Configuration"

I am having problems getting my asp:CreateUserWizard FinishDestinationPageUrl to work. I have an OnCreatedUser method that is firing just fine, but after that, it just stays on the same page.Here is the markup:

I have an asp.net application. This is a role based authorization. Basically, if the user's are in a specific AD group, it should allow them to look at the webpage. Otherwise it should error out saying "not authorized".
In the web.config file, I have the following lines of code. I made sure I am in the Apr-Sales-Writers AD group.

Issue: when I go to default.aspx page, it prompts for a userid and password and even though I put correct password and userid, it says "not authorized error".

Error message 401.2.: Unauthorized: Logon failed due to server configuration. Verify that you have permission to view this directory or page based on the credentials you supplied and the authentication methods enabled on the Web server. In the IIS project (on IIS server), I configured it to be a "Integrated windows authentication".

I have role assignments on both the first and second level of my menus within my sitemap file. The first level works fine, and I only see items assigned to my role. But roles assignments seem to have no effect on the second level. It seems like if you have access to the first level, you have access to everything on the second level. Is this correct?
From my sitemap (either a SalesRep or an Administrator can see everything underneath):

Usually in sub-folder we will limit the access right to some roles and this feature requires pre-defined database schema.
However, if i still want to use this role feature of asp.net, but I do not like the pre-define database schema, I want to extract role information from my own database table and bind it to the role.

I have a listbox (UsersListBox) which shows all the users and a gridview (gvRoles) which shows the users' roles when their username is selected in UserListBox. gvRoles is below. When I click the buttonfield in gvRoles, I'd like for my OnRowDatabound event to call up the gvRoles_RowDatabound method. I'm trying to get this method to remove the username selected in UserListBox from the role in the row clicked. How do I go about that using the roles and membership classes?

We use Sharepoint to control our websites. We build the sites, then load them into the sharepoint server. My question is if I use windows authentication, how can I get my role security in my web config file to coencide with the asp.net controls that use the Forms authentication. Is there a differenence? Our security uses a session variable for security but there is no where to set up their permissions except in active directory. I hope this makes sense because I would like to implement the LoginView with Role groups but how can I give them the role="administrator"? Do I have to go into active directory and give them these permissions(would take awhile due to the size of the company)? Or do I have to set up priveladges in the web.config file for each user(difficult I think)?

I have implemented role based security in my asp.net 2.0 vb.net application using windows authentication and the windowstokenroleprovider and limiting access to certain pages using the location tag to specific active directory groups.
The issue is that when a user tries to access a page they are not authorized to view it brings up a login prompt and when it does not pass it takes them to the default page that tells them they are not authorized to view the page. I am wondering if there is a way to throw up a custom page that tells them they are not athorized to view the page that I can incorporate into the site itself with the header and so forth? if this page could come up in lieu of the sign in box popping up as well.

I have a blank page with a Captcha called Captcha.aspx. I would like to add this as the second step to a CreateUserwizard. The following is what I want to achieve:i) User enters their Username etc in CreateUserwizard and clicks the CreateUser Button(ii) After clicking the CreateUser button, user sees the Captcha.aspx page and enters the correct stuff in the Captcha box and click a continue button(iii) User account is created if correct details were entered in the Captcha else no account is created, rather the user is sent to a page informing him or her that no account has been created

Considering various different user roles in scripting- role base access on same page. not in the database Different user should be able to see only particular information on the page, which is assign to him. This should be done on the bases of scripting not in the database.In short administrators and users contains should be on one page and they should be distinguish according to the role of administrator and user on same page.
Need to put validation and verification on the scripting page, not from the database.
My CLIENT REQUIREMENT IS :-

The goal of this project is to extend role-based access from data to scripts. The users are classified into different roles. A script will display different information according to the role of the user.
The main aim behind implementing this project is, as nowadays people try to access the code and try to break into the secure codes via cookies as well as link information along with domain names. So in order to prevent this if the role base access security is kept on a script instead of database then it might be possibly less chance of breaking this kind of security.
In making this kind of functionality we need to deal security of webpage with the help of script. So the whole idea is to identify the user and separate contains which are only accessible to the specific user. In order to research and implement this project, we need to have core understanding and knowledge of the scripting fundamental and how exactly the scripting is working on webpage.
So looking towards this project we are planning to deal with somehow role base access in scripting.
Nowadays you might have seen security has become a larger issue, moreover providing security on website is one of the major concerned in today's life. As the network of wired and wireless network has extended in very large volume, you can see unsecure internet access in many place and in this unsecure there might be possibility of hacking becomes very easy.

I'm using the ASP.NET Membership system to add new users to my site. It's working fine. But I'd like to force the user to enter additional required information (on a different aspx page) before they can successfully complete the registration process. What is the easiest way to direct and force the user to complete a different page of fields (stored in SQL in columns located on the same table as the basic membership fields) as a condition of completing the registration process?
In searching different sites, I see additional properties and templates like Wizard Steps, Continue button, Finish button---but I'm not clear as to which of these (perhaps none of them?) will allow me to accomplish this goal.

I have a createuserwizard where people input their information. When I hit enter after typing in the data in the form it returns me to the homepage. How do I set the default button for the createuserwizard so that it goes to the next step rather then back to my homepage.
I'm not sure if it has to do with the fact that I have a defaultbutton set in a form in the masterpage and that defaultbutton overides the other pages defualtbutton....

Where and how can those dropdownlists be assigned datasources from datareader, refreshed and accessed in codebehind for interaction between country and city? 1) Extend the CreateUserWizard control to insert additional User fields (eg. Gender, Age, Occupation, Address, Phone, etc...).
OR
2) Create a brand new Custom Membership Provider of my own and skip using the inbuilt ASP.NET membership system.
What is the best way to create a new User system with my own tables of User data as described above?
Should i perhaps still use the standard ASP.NET membership system and then extend my own Registration page to add more User data to my own SQL backend table using the Identity value inserted into the aspnet_users table?

I have created a C# registration page that includes a secret question and answer. The secret questions are in a dropdown list. When the form is submitted, all field information gets written to my mssql database successfully but the value selected in the dropdown ListItem gets NULL inserted instead of the question.

Even though the form has the necessary validation elements like requiredfieldvalidator, comparevalidator and so on, the validation on client side does not fire and form is submitted and saved.I checked twice the code, nothing seemed wrong and have no what might it caused.

I'm using the CreatUserWizard control along with my MembershipProvider. It all works fine bout a year now Recently there has been a new requirement to reserve some usernames. There is no need to go in details i think. Point is that i want to manually raise the same error the control raises when a user tries to register a username that has already been registered (i.e. DuplicateUserName) so the situation is handled the same way as when username really is a duplicate in aspMembership. Have tried differnet things with no luck, what would you advise me doing?
