My HTML looks something like this:

In all with a class indicated as "disabled", I want to set visibility: hidden on the <img>. I can disable using the crazy id ASP.Net gives, but would like to do a general statement that affects every control in the <table>
I've been trying to get image caching working for the last 8 hours and I keep the same problem time and time again, I'm trying to cache Images at the moment and then when thats succesful, apply this to cache my js and css files. I have at the moment Sql Dependancy caching working on my dynamic pages but the page still takes to long due to images not caching.
What I have tried is going to IIS7 Management and adding HTTP Response Header for the images folder and setting various things for the cache control.i dont care how long it caches it on the client or on the proxy servers i just would like it to check when the file was modified and compare it with the one in the client or proxy cache and if they are different then fetch the new image which has been ftp up. i could solve this by changing the image name but the thing is the image name is generated when they are ftp'd to the site by an application and the name is a direct reference to the product so i cant change the name each time, as it would mean making a lot of otherpages accross the board.
so What i would like, is to set and expiry date of lets say 32 days or more on the images and then check to see if they have changed by date modified or some other way of checking(Etags maybe) I'm not sure, if they have changed on the server then redownload and recache them, I tried using post-check and pre-check together but that just permantly cached them, so when i change the image the only way it would display the new image is to just hit F5.
In Brief, how can i Cache images, on the client machine/ proxy cache and recache them when the modified date of the file has changed.

I want to get clients images in web app(upload) and store them in DB (mysql) then send these images to windows app via web service (so i new web service, not web site). But i have 2 problems:
I have 2 ways to store images in mysql, first i should have BLOB field in DB -that it takes more space-, second i should save just name of each image in DB(so have image in one folder) -in this way i don't know how get image from clients and store them in that folder-. which one? Or what other? How (code) can i transfer image via web service(Byte[] or? ).

I wanted to combine app_themes css files into one on the fly. I did so using Mads Cristensen technique. But now all elements that has background image defined through css (see picture) don't display image. I believe that is because css files are not relatively referenced anymore (../), but through axd file. I'm trying to fix this by changing reference to image files without success. I already tried background: url("~/App_Themes/44/images/myimage.gif") and this works for pages that combined css. But the problem is that there are other pages in this project that don't use this css combining and now they lost reference to background images.

Is it possible to make the viewstate false of whole page including all controls at a time.I mean I don't want to set enableviewstate="false" for all controls..In the page directive of the aspx page I have made enableviewstate="false" but still viewstate of all the controls of the is enabled.. And what the EnableViewState="False"actually works within Page directive.

View 1 RepliesI have a page that has two drop down lists on it and a button. All controls sit in an update panel. The first drop down list (ddl1) contains a lot of values which caused a huge viewstate so I disabled viewstate on it. In the page oninit event I populate the drop down list every time the page is posted back. This all seems to work fine, it shows all the values and I can access the selected value in my event handler.
ddl1 has the autopostback attribute set to true so when its value changes the second drop down list (ddl2) is populated with some values that depend on the selection in ddl1. This also works fine, the values in ddl2 change when I select a value in ddl1.
ddl2 does not have viewstate disabled. The button that sits under my two drop down lists is disabled by default and becomes enabled when the value of ddl2 is changed to anything except string.empty. This is where I run into problems. ddl2 does an autopostback too but it seems to lose the selected index/value. When I'm in my code to check whether to enable or disable the button the selected index is always 0 and the selected value is string.Empty.
If I enable viewstate on ddl1 this all works fine. Could anyone point me to what I'm doing wrong?

In my page I have a read-only TextBox that contains a rather large amount of text. I noticed that on postback this text is sent back to the server and validated, even though the client can never modify it. This seems silly; is there a way to disable this behavior?

View 7 RepliesI thought disabling ViewState for a server control would cause this control not to keep its state after a postback. I thought the same would happen if I disable ViewState for the whole page.
However, I tried to create an example to show this to a colleague and was puzzled when a textbox on a page would keep is state (in this case its Text property) after one or more postbacks, even when ViewState is disabled everywhere (both at Page level and Server Control level). I can keep pressing the Post back! button and every value typed on the textbox is still there after the postback(s). I'm using VS 2008.
After this example I now assume I don't understand ViewState as I thought I was.

This should be a simple one. I am using a program that has themes defined in its Web.config file. I want to turn these off for a subdirectory.I copied Web.config into a subdirectory and tried removing the theme attribute from the pages element on Web.config but that didn't get me anywhere. I got a bunch of errors about elements that are apparently not allowed in non-root Web.config files so I removed all of those elements, but I am still getting the same error.I tried adding EnableTheming="False" in the ASPX Page header, the thing that defines Language=C#, etc., but it didn't work either.So if someone can tell me a tested, confirmed way to make this work, I would appreciate that. I am using .NET Framework 2.0 on Server 2003.

I also have an image next to the textbox that if clicked on runs a javascript that populates the textbox with the current date. My problem is that when I type a date that is in the past into the textbox and press enter the date gets overwritten with todays date. As if the image had been clicked.So I wrote a javascript function-

So the webadress could look like: http://localhost/mywebsite/eng/home
In the root of my website I have a folder "Images".
Image display works when I'm in the root of my website, e.g. by using http://localhost/mywebsite/default.aspx
But when using routing it doesn't work, because the image relative url will look at http://localhost/mywebsite/eng/images instead of http://localhost/mywebsite/images
Is there a way to prevent this using ASP.NET 4 Routing mechanism? Or is the only way to use absolute url's to images?
I'm using an HttpHandler to display images from memory ... which is working fine.The image is displayed as a .png format in a popup window.My problem is printing the image from IE7 Web Browser using the popup menu displayed after doing a right-click, selecting 'Print Picture'.A blank page is being printed ... i.e. No Image, just the url and date on the bottom of the page and the page number on the top.I have also tried this with the image formatted as .jpg, with the same result.

For this, I have disabled the requiredfield validators for txtbox2 in the asp.net code and then wrote a javascript to enable these text boxes on the required conditions. All this works well.
