View 1 RepliesFor the sake of client-side performance, it's best to minimize the number HTTP requests to load a page. Is it possible to combine the contents of all Javascript files stored in the "Style Library" such that the client only has to make one request instead traditionally, a request for each Javascript file?
View 1 RepliesI have written the following code to download a file from sharepoint. The downloded file works fine in only some machines. For others, it says that the file is corrupted. The issue is for MS Office and image files, however the PDF is not having any issues. We have identified the issue of corruption as due to the addition of a hexadecimal number at the top of the file contents. When it is removed, the file gets opened correctly. The hexadecimal character has been traced out to be representing the file size in bytes. Why this is happening only in some machines and how can we fix it?
private void DownloadFile()

SPListItem item = GetFileFromSharepoint();

We have a problem with some people working from home where when uploading 30-40mb (max upload is 50mb) they are timing out. Naturally when these people are on site they have no problems because of the network speed with have. What are peoples thoughts about extening the time out period, working on an 250k upload speed from home, we would be thinking about 20 to 30 mins.

View 1 RepliesI have deployed a custom SharePoint Web service on Farm A. I am trying to access this Web service from a SharePoint timer job on Farm B. On Farm B, I am creating Class Library project, packaging it (wsp) and then deploying to GAC. The problem is I'm unable to access the Web Service using the following code. TodaysNewSVC is a service reference
TodaysNewSVC.GetTodaysnewsfromInsite objGetNews = new TodaysNewSVC.GetTodaysnewsfromInsite();
objGetNews.PreAuthenticate = true;
objGetNews.Credentials = CredentialCache.DefaultCredentials;
objGetNews.Url = "http://insite-dev.portal/_vti_bin/todaysnews.asmx";
DataTable dt2 = objGetNews.getNewsFromInsite(true, true);
//getNewsFromInsite is a WebMethod which returns the DataTable.
Note: Both farms use the same active directory authentication. I have also done the debugging for Timer Job and feature activation and they are working fine. The problem occurs during the call i.e. getNewsFromInsite
The asmx and wsdl files are accessible from Internet Explorer and also from Windows Console application. Here is the code which I use from console application:
GetTodaysnewsfromInsiteSoapClient objWSClient = new GetTodaysnewsfromInsiteSoapClient();
objWSClient.ClientCredentials.Windows.ClientCredential = System.Net.CredentialCache.DefaultNetworkCredentials;[code]...
Here is the error message:The request failed with the error message:

I have a web application that allows users to upload files which are stored in a database. Users can then search for files and click a link to download them. Clicking the link opens a new window which retrieves the file from the database and offers the user the chance to open the file or save it.
All of the users within our organisation use IE 6, yet while some can click a link and download the file, others can't. The new window simply opens for a split second, then closes. If it was all users I would think it might be the application, but as it is only some I am tempted to think it is a browser issue.
How do I go about securing files that are stored on the server? We have an ASP.NET app which generates PDFs. These are not stored in the wwwroot folder but in another folder i.e. C:inetpubdata. This provides more security but maybe not enough. The ASP.NET/IIS process will need write access to this folder so it generate the PDFs there.
Once the pdf is generated, it can be viewed using an ASP.NET form called viewpdf.aspx with the file to be viewed add to the query string like so viewpdf.aspx?FILE=mynewfile.pdf. This is loaded from a gridview.
The full path to C:inetpubdata is resolved and loaded in the Page_load event of the viewer page. Now I'm wondering how to secure this. Anybody could just view the file. Not by entering in the URL, as it won't been seen by IIS (its not in wwwroot), but could change the querystring in the viewpdf page.
How do I stop anybody hacking this?

I'm trying to display a list of Excel files that are stored in multiple folders in adatagrid but the .GetFiles part of the routine in my loop only gets the very last excel file rather than all that meet the criteria. Below is the code I've been working on for several days. This is the first time I have tried to use a "For next loop," and I am having much trouble with this. Using the same loop code posted I was able to verify that the loop was working by appending some text into a temporary label.

View 1 RepliesI have heard that saving connection strings and stored procedure names in web.config file of our application is not safe. It is a good practice to store the connection string in a config file rather than as a hard coded string in our code and if we need to change it,then it makes our job easier. how to protect our code in web.config?

View 1 Repliesi want data to drop down list using stored procedure .
However im not able to do that.
I am using Visual Studio 2008 and SQL Server 2008 and have added a SQL datasource to my form.
When I configure the datasource, I choose my connection string which looks like this in my webconfig:
<connectionStrings>
<add
name="PSFSPRD_ConnectionString"
connectionString="Data
The database I am using has a schema called EQB and as such, my stored procedures are named as EQB.usp_SelectFunds, EQB.usp_SelectAccount, etc.
On the select tab of the Configure Data Source screen, I choose to use a stored procedure. The dropdown shows my stored procedures, however, the schema name does not show up in front of the stored procedures in the drop down. I see only usp_SelectFunds, usp_SelectAccount, etc.
I select one of the stored procedures and when I click TEST, I get the message that the stored procedure is not found. If I instead choose to use a SQL statement instead on the configuration screen and enter EXEC EQB.usp_SelectFunds and click TEST, it works fine.
Why are my stored procedures not showing up correctly in the stored procedure drop down and how can I fix this?

how to convert the oracle Stored Procedure to sqlserver2005/2008 Stored Procedure.
right now i am enhancing the project that project already developed the oracle Stored Procedure. now our company is using sqlserver 2005/2008.
how to convert the Oracle Stored Procedure to sqlserver 2005 Stored Procedure
Initially, I have tried to use stored procedure. But I changed my mind and preferred to call sql query in codebase with command text. However, it stills tries to find initially-called stored procedure (which is neither called or exists).I think that it is related caching. But I tried it with different browsers it did not work.What might be the reason?
