State Management :: Creating Dynamic Controls And Reading Values?
Feb 8, 2011
i have a Method which create textboxes dynamicly. When i change one of my textbox's text, it create that amount textbox and label. But my problem is, when i entered values to them and click my button, they are disappearing and i cant find my controls. Some of my codes
I want to know how can I write custom session management mechanism in ASP.NET. I do not want to use cookies or URL to have my session ID thus I think I can not use SessionIDManager. I will like to save the sessionID in a post variable and at server I will like to extract this ID to map with session.
I want to display panels based on the check boxes selected on the dynamic checkbox list control. I have been able to dynamically build the check box but have no idea on how to access its checked propety. This is what I am doing but getting error on Request.Form On page load wrote this code.
protected void Page_Load(object sender, EventArgs e) { int i; int chkboxCount = Request.Form("chklist1").Count; for ( i = 1; i < chkboxCount) { String valueChkbox = Request.Form["chklist1"]; } }
Since I changed from statemode"inproc" to stateserver I canīt se changes done to de session vaiable in a thread. I can only see the first value set to the session variable!
While generating dynamic controls like , textboxes, dropdownlist, checkboxes and radiobuttons, after filling the textboxes and etc and submit and then postback occurs, the dynamic created controls missing. I try to find a way to make the controls persist for validation checking. Tried to use Viewstate to store the pnlTextBoxes and etc, but it has serializable error.
I have a nested master page that I use for multiple pages. There is a ContentPlaceHolder that is used for only one page, but it is not shown until after the first postback and some validation. I was first trying to use static controls and set the Visible property on the ContentPlaceHolder to true after the postback and that did not work at all. Then was messing with the visible properties of the Individual controls inside the ContentPlaceHolder which also did not work. I have the EnableViewState set to false for the Page and each of the controls including the ContentPlaceHolder. Is there a better way to do this? I can post my code if need be just wanted to see if there was a better solution to this before I did.
I am in the process of designing a blogosphere that enable readers to leave comments. I want my dynamically added label controls added to the placeholder on the page to be retained and displayed on subsequent requests or postbacks to the same page. how do I go about this? I have tried using View State but it's kind of beyong me how to work it.
I have several dynamic user controls,that I want to load them in seperate tab panels.but my problem is when the postback occures my user controls disapeare from my tabpanels. however I want to keep my user controls in my tabs whenever I click on each tab.
I have a set of dynamically-created (IE: by code) controls on my web page. Depending on which options the user decides to go (Edit/New), those controls are re-created with the appropriate information (IE: "with values" with Edit, "without values" with New).
Here's the situation:
- I create my controls in InitComplete when it comes to save the data (both on Edit/New) contained within the controls.
- I create my controls in PreLoad when it comes to load them initially (Both on Edit/New) in order to avoid the ViewState to kick in.
However, despite creating the controls after the ViewState has been applied (technically), the controls still somehow retain the pre-postback's information. IE: if I have options 2 and 4 selected and I choose "New", which should show the options without being selected, they remain selected no matter what. And this is true despite changing their values in the PreLoad state. From my understanding, creating a control in this fashion and at that point in the page lifecycle should override any values the ViewState might have had for those controls. I have also tried to disable the parent's control viewstate (Table.EnableViewState = false) again, to no avail.
I've tried using the Me.ViewState.clear() and Me.ClearChildViewSate prior to loading the initial values as well, but again all for naught. I do understand that any control created after the Init phase of the lifecycle has to play "catchup" with the current state, however I would expect that clearing the ViewState prior to creating the controls would fix this issue. It doesn't seem to.
I try to get sLocale variable to "en-US" if Countrycode passed is "US" in session.I get Object reference not set to an instance of an object error near
StringsLocale=Some.DataProvider.ListData.GetCulture(System.Web.HttpContext.Current.Session["CountryCode"].ToString()); in ProductDetails.cs page.This method works fine in all other page,but here it is showing error.If I hard code Session to US then it works fine.I think it is not reading session.
I have a clear button and a textbox in an aspx page. I set the session variable in this page as
String str = Textbox1.Text;
Session["TypeIds"] = str;
and I clear the sessions in a clear button event as
Session["TypeIds"]=null;.
Then when the user types some value in the textbox ,on Response.Redirect on another aspx page, the session variable returns null values.It does not retain its session state. The session state has to be maintained in the next page. Is it because this clear button event and setting explicitly to null creates this problem?
How to solve Cross browser session Problem???When i login to my site and open a new tab,the session is shared.I want a new session for each tab.It is possible without using cookieless = 'true',but i cant use this.
Right now I am creating this session with the session key "PhonePart" which is also the name of object I am passing in as a parameter in first method. In subsequent methods, I use the the same name to retreive and clear session value. My problem is, this approach works fine If I instantiate a single object of the class where these methods are defined and using that object call the methods, but when I create another instance of the same class and calls for instance method AddToSession and pass that instance, it overwrites the session value stored by the first instance of the class as the session key is the same that is "PhonePart".
Considering this scenario, is it possible that I somehow grab the name of the object as string in the calling method say "AddToSession" and create a session with that name? If Yes, then I can do the same in subsequent methods and retreive session value and also clear the session specific to that instance name without affecting the other session values stored by other instances.
I am creating a static variable and adding to session.This variable has value that is user specific. Now I am getting a problem with this users are complaining that they are getting values that should be another users. It's like a mix up with session. Could this be because of static variable declaration?
I have created a demo application to read data from the CSV and after read the data from the csv file there is a button to save all the CSV loaded data in the database. When i load the large CSV (2MB) file . after load all the data from the file i will save all the data in datatable and store in view state.
when i click on another Link the page doesn't work and page become expires. Where is the problem.
Its simple doing read CSV file .. file stream closed. store all the csv data in view state. and click on the another link save into the database. but click save database button page expire.
I have a code below...that dynamically create a checkboxlist.....
....connection code.... Dim da As New SqlDataAdapter(myDBCommand)[code]....
Ok so that works ...data coming from the database populating the checkboxlist...:)when the user click on some values...I want them to go to another page.....ok ..so I have all the values they selected.....page going to another page.....but what I want to do is when they come back to the page where this Dynamic checkboxlist is on...I want to select all the checkboxes they selected. ...before they went to this other page...so how can I dynamically select certain checkboxes from the dynamic checkbox....? the values will be stored in a querystring...not a database....so how can I use the querystring value and re select the checkbox corrisponding to the querystring value?
cookies are generated from the client scripting.e.g. document.cookie = city=NYC;
I want to update this from GUI using
Response.cookies["city"] = LA;
I could not understand why this is not possible.( I read about Httponly and all that stuff but still not clear).If I use Javascript in code behind page then I am able to change the value.e.g.
But I could not use this type of code because there is response.redirect statement in the function where I am updating cookie using (response.cookie) and that's why the javascript code never runs.
Bottomline: I want to update cookies in code behind page which is generated in client scripting.
i have a requirement where i need to pass values from page1 to page3. In page1 i have 3 textbox and 2 drobdownlist and one button named NEXT. In page2 i have 10 textboxs and button named Next button. In page3 i have 10 textboxs and Submit button. when Next button in page1 is clicked it goes to page2 and then to page3. In page3 i need to submit all the values of page1 and page2 to database. Is there any way to pass all the values of page1 and page2 to page3 without using sessions
I am learning how to use profiles. My profile properties are defined in web.config and wish to add selected checkboxlist values to user profiles.TextBoxes and RadioButtonLists all seem to work fine, but not my CheckBoxList values.How do I go about making this work?
In my webapp page i load a custom user control, this uc loads data from an xml file in a JSGrid. All this works fine and uses callbacks. The uc is the callbackhandler and thus implements the icallbackhandler interface. Now, i gave this uc some properties, like the path to the xml file. After each callback the uc loses the values of its properties. Currently i'm including the path in each callback itself so i can load the file each time i need it, but this isn't the good way i think.
I tried solving this with viewstate but it doesn't work, a callback also seems to erase the values of the viewstate.
Is there a way to keep these values stored in the uc instance? Maybe a way to disable the erasing for each callback?
Also each callback contains "Changes", this has al the changes that were made to the grid. So when all the changes were made in the grid, i want to get these changes in my page that contains the uc in order to decide ther what to do with this data.
In a aspx page I am displaying records in the datagrid control. I have added one more column to the datagrid in my aspx page and this column is the template column which contains the checkbox control for each of the records. Then I have two buttons a) Display and b) submit
When i click Display button I get all the records in the datagrid from the database(about 700 rows). Then when I click the checkbox for a few rows and click the Submit button then it redirects to another aspx page (i have given response.redirect) . But sometimes when i click a few rows and then click the submit button the screen goes completely blank and it even does not redirect to the next page as specified(in the browser URL the initial page name is only shown).
how to pass the value from one page to another page in asp.net with out Using State Management Concepts? Like 1. cookies 2.Sessiion 3. QueryStrings.With out using the above should pass the values..
