A user logs in by inserting their user id and password.If they don't have an email address assigned to their login details they are asked to submit one before they can continue.They then continue to the home page in a logged in state.he trouble I'm having is that the user id and password are not retained when they submit their email address so the login fails.

In my page, I need to enable a text box when user click on check box(checked). I have used javascript for this. It works fine but when there is postback for the page, the textbox becomes disabled again although the check box is checked. But the value in textbox still appears. Is there any method to retain the enabled state for text box on postback other than using hidden values?

I'm working on an ASP.NET web app where I'm using a Wizard to take the client through a large series of steps.One of the steps includes calculating a bunch of numbers on the fly... the numbers calculate properly but when I click "next" and then go back again... some of the numbers are not retained.

I have an asp.net web form, and on it I have two controls (well, more than these two but we'll focus on these) - the first is an asp:dropdownlist and the second is an asp:table.
Both of these controls are declared on the HTML side, and filled (child controls added) in the code-behind page.
My simple question (hopefully with a simple answer) is this:
Why does the viewstate persist for the dropdownlist, and NOT for the table?
I have to fill the table on every page load, but I can fill the dropdownlist once (using Not Page.IsPostBack), and it persists.
NOTE: I have read about the lifecycle of ASP.NET pages, and I have tried placing these same calls in the Init() and PreInit() page events with the same results.

In a aspx page I am displaying records in the datagrid control. I have added one more column to the datagrid in my aspx page and this column is the template column which contains the checkbox control for each of the records. Then I have two buttons a) Display and b) submit
When i click Display button I get all the records in the datagrid from the database(about 700 rows). Then when I click the checkbox for a few rows and click the Submit button then it redirects to another aspx page (i have given response.redirect) . But sometimes when i click a few rows and then click the submit button the screen goes completely blank and it even does not redirect to the next page as specified(in the browser URL the initial page name is only shown).

I have a website for a simple game. When people sign in their Player ID is stored in a Session variable. I have integrated SMS payments so that my players can buy credits to use to play. This is where the problems start:
To buy credits, players are presented with an .aspx page that holds an IFRAME of the SMS payment proviers form. A code is entered, and the IFRAME POSTS to a URL on the providers server. It is then redirected back to an URL on my server(www.XXX.com/process.aspx), where I handle the results (i.e adds credits to th players account if the payment was successfull).
However, the session dies on return.
I tried with cookies, and saves the player ID in a cookie, but when upon return to www.XXX.com/process.aspx I cannot read the cookie? I'm checking for if (cookie == null) and it evaluates to TRUE, so the player is redirected to an error page.
How come the cookie cant be read? Is it because the POST is coming from an outside URL? And, what about when I do it with a session variable? Same thing there?

I am using a web service to pass back search results. To do this I am using ToolkitScriptManager with a ServiceReference to my web service and calling the web service up with javascript. The javascript call looks something like this:
WebService.GetResults("search term", OnSuccessGetData, OnFail);
If the request is successful the "OnSuccessGetData" function is fired and the results are inserted into a DIV tag. Because the resulting search results can be large I wrote the service to only pass back the first 20 results on the first trip. After that I make calls again to the service to return the next 5 results and continue to do this until all the results are loaded. This all works wonderful. You can see it in action at www.lsbio.com and use the search term "human mouse". My problem is that when the user clicks on a product and then hits the 'Back' button the search results have to be fetched again from the webservice.
Is there a way to keep the search results in the DIV tag to remain as part of the page so when the user navigates away from the search page and uses the 'Back' button to navigate back the search results are still there without having to hit the webservice again?
If I didn't make myself clear enough on what I am trying to do, go ahead and test the site www.lsbio.com, use the search terms human mouse, click on a product and then hit the back button.

We have a ASP.net form [.NET 3.5 on IIS 6] that loads controls dynamically. We are able to retain the values in the viewstate as long as the postback happens within 20 minutes. The database also gets updated properly. Everything works as expected.
However, If it takes more than 20 minutes for a user to fill out the form, the controls no longer retain their values during postbacks. The session values are intact, the user authentication is also intact. We tried several things
1) Added machine keys to web.config files - we have 2 web servers load balanced by Windows load balancer
2) We confirmed that the user are routed to the same server - because the sessions are sticky
3) Increased the session timeout to 60 minutes in IIS 6.0
4) Increased the Idle timeout for connection pool to 60 minutes
5) Changed Form authentication ticket timeout to 60 minutes

I have an XML web service where the authentication used is BASIC WINDOWS. Following is my client code to connect to the service.

Now, the issue is that the client is really authenticated only in the first attempt(First time I execute the code in VS). Further attempts succeed even if the code to assign credentials is commented or even after providing wrong user id/ password. I ensured that the server is hit each time(Just to make it clear that it not just because of client side caching).Is this the behavior of Basic authentication/credential cache. I would prefer the client be authenticated each time he hits the server.

Why remember me doesn't work? As you can see in picture below Expire date is at the end of session although I set expiration to 1 month. This is my login button codes

i am having a problem on my aspx page, what i did was i wrote a simple url re-wrte rule in my aspx page, after i write my url re-write rule my query string looks like this [URL] idea been to writing a rule to accept that above query for user friend seo url string, but when i am in that page i cant click any of my datalist page indexes ...it will redirect to [URL] i dont know how to fix this proble, i am trying s hard ,but i cant make it work, i think page post back changing my url re-write link.

Let suppose, I am building an asp.net website which has login scenario in it. I want to provide a certain functionality to the website that if the user is already login on computer 1 and now try to login on computer 2, so he will be allowed to remain login on computer 2, while automatically logout him from computer 1. I also know that http is a stateless medium, so whenever user interact with computer 1 and try to interact with the page, it will get noticed at that time.

I have added a multiview and menu in a web page. I have 2 views. In both the views, i have added 2 dropdownbox. Two different Dropdown box is available in both the views. Dropdownbox are filled from the database.In the first view, i selected a data in the dropdownbox, and moved to the next view. In the second view, i selected a data in the dropdownbox. I clicked on the first menu, and in the dropdownnbox i am not able to retain the selected data. It is going to the default value.

When an asynchronous postback happened inside update panel, another postback happens also for MasterPage not only update panel embedded page .
I want to prevent this MasterPage postback .
is this possible ? think like i have a MasterPage
and another page which is test.aspx which is content page of MasterPage
i have update panel at test.aspx
when asynchronous postback happens at this test.aspx update panel it also loads MasterPage Page_Load
i want to prevent this (it should not also load MasterPage Page_Load)

I have 2 textboxes and a submit button inside a .net composite server control. I tried to only postback when submit button is clicked. I set autopostback = false for both textboxes. But either one still trigger submit button's onclick event by hitting "Enter" inside textbox. How can I stop postback by enter key?

iam using the Jquery Uframe with asp.net project.Iam getting a postback problem here.
In side the uframe ,button control getting postback the page even the client side method call also.
i tried with the Html button Control also by setting the type="submit" ,iam facing the same problem.
And I got very limited reference about the uframe(codeflex,codeProject).
