C# - Hidden Field - Value Is An Empty String Upon Postback Inside Custom Control

I have a custom control that has a hidden field. Upon postback I want to obtain the value stored in it, but it's always an empty string.I am performing client-side manipulation of the hidden field values and have verified in firebug that the fields are correct before issue a post back,Here is the setup:

I have a custom user control which contains a asp hiddenfield object. The value of this hidden field is being set using javascript and I have verified that the value is being set properly. When a postback occurs the new value is not being saved and I cannot access it in my code.
I believe the problem is because the user control is not saved in viewstate and therefore the hidden field value is not saved accross postback. How can I make the hidden field save its value? I tried accessing it from the early page cycles and still no luck.

I have a parent control that has an instance of a HiddenField child control. I am using CreateChildControls() to add it. Everything works client side including the values being added to the field. However, on postback, the reference to the field is null

I have tried simply relying on the ViewState ... then also attempted using FindControl(). Neither works, it comes up as a null reference ... any input on what is going here?

i have a javascript function written like this

Now this is working fine but , lets say i have 10 textboxes, if i change the value one the first textbox to be the same as the second textbox , it means it is a duplicate, now the problem here is that the value of the hidden field does not get updated immidiately , you have to click twice to get the real value.

I have a hiddenfield, which I want to save the scroll position of asp.panel scrollbar during postback, and when during postback this value is called back to set the scroll position.
Using javascript I can grab the value from the scrollbar, and assign it to the hidden field, but when I post the page back the value has gone.
Here is my code snippet:

I have a component that determines a value on a postback event.

There's more involved in the value of course, but HiddenField is an asp:HiddenField control with runat=server set. I have in my javascript:
var id = $("#<%= HiddenField.ClientID %>").val();
The code in the javascript is set to be run only after the postback has occured (a different client click event) for the purpose of passing the hidden field value via QueryString to another URL (since i can't do a response redirect on postbacks and the client wants it in a different page anyway).
I tried adding:
ScriptManager.RegisterHiddenField(HiddenField, "Value", string.Empty);
To a !Page.IsPostback section of code, but the ID is still not set when the javascript is run.

I have a ascx page where I am using a hidden field to store the value of a the drop down box as it is generated using a google address finder. My problem is that when I try to store the value directly in the hidden field :
hfDdlVerifyID.Value = ddlVerifySS.SelectedValue;
in the event of a button click, the value is stored but on postback is lost again. Whereas, if i try to use Scriptmanager to do it, nothing is stored.

I am working on an ASP.NET application (well supposed to be deploying it about 3 days ago) and my hidden fields are loosing value when the form gets posted back..
I am using them to store information i write using javascript and on my own machine this works fine but as soon as i deploy it on our server everything else works except these values are lost..
I am using the .NET AJAX control toolkit on the same page and have noticed my calander datepicker also looses the data..
I have checked using firebug and the data is definitely getting post to the server but is getting lost somewhere!

I must be doing something wrong, but this makes sense to me. I have a Listbox loaded with tons of items from a datasource. A user clicks one of these items it grabs the selectedindex (an integer) and stores it in a HiddenField (works fine).
Now when the page does a complete a refresh (after postback) I want the ListBox to go back to that selectedindex that is in the HiddenField. Problem is, it seems that after postback the HiddenField is empty? Then I thought about storing the value in an Integer variable in code, but that is simply coming up as a zero at all times.
Question 1: What is the best/simplest way to do this?
Question 2: How?
I am currently grabbing it on selectedindex change

how am I be able to assign a value to my hidden field control? I have this web service that returns member's ID and name (e.g. 0001-John dela Vega). In order for me to search for a member, I'm using an autocomplete extender, now, if in case that I found the member I'd like to assign its member id to a hidden field. I ask this because I'd like to change the way my web service return data so instead of displaying the member's id and name at the same, I'll just show its member name.

here's a situation and I would appreciate your response.
I have programmatically created the Wizard control:

Based on List I get from Session i added new steps to my wizard To each step I had added a custom control
Each custom control in tern contains another custom Gridview Control in it.
So here's the problem when the page loads for example for two steps. All is good Wizard does what it's supposed to do.
But when I try to use sorting or paging in that custom Gridview. Somehow it displays the gridview I should see in the next step of the wizard.
Also what I'm noticing through debugging. Is that when I press next in the wizard I go back to the original page where I do all of the code specified above, and it recreates the wizzard. But it goes to the next step. Is this the way wizard supposed to work? Just doesn't seem very efficient.

I have a user control that i have registered to an aspx page. Now from the aspx page, i am trying to access one of the registered usercontrol's hiddenfield value in my aspx page using javacript using the below code:
tst = document.getElementById('control1$hdnField').value;
I looked into the page's trace, and i could see 'control1$hdnField'. Then why i am not getting its value in my aspx page. I have also confirmed that the hidden field by this name exists in the user control and also has a default value set.

i did not enter any date in that field but the above code is always executed.
it always have the current date.

I have created a really simple custom control to render panels into a page. The code is below. When I use my control and add any webcontrol to it, after each page postback the contents of these child controls vanishes.
I must have missed something really simple but run the example to reproduce this. Can anyone please enlighten me as to why the controls are being 'emptied' of their contents, and how I stop this occuring?

I'm using the new Aurigma Image Uploader Flash control, and creating sample pages works great. However, when I drop this control onto an existing page on my existing site, it doesn't work. I can only suspect something in the masterpage or something else on the page is messing with it.

I'm using V.S. 2008 and asp.net MVC. I have a form in this page that user selects various items from Select controls. I then construct a string varible that contains each selected element's id a hidden input control that holds this information. How can I pass this variable (and it value of course) to a Controller Action? I am using regular Html Form and the Submit button.
In the following code you see the "ResearchInterests" is the one that holds the string but I can't even reference it in my Controller action, Search. How can I correct this?

I have used Ajax tab control and in that i have used textchanged event for Date of birth field, when i enter the date of birth it automatically generates the age in next field. After the postback the tab control goes back to the beginning field.
