SubWebFolder And Mutliple Bin Folders With Website Model?

I am looking for some advice on how what is the best approach to subweb folders and having mutliple bin folders in the WebSite Project model. For adding new pages at a later stage without recompiling the core files of a website and without building a full fledged Plug-in framework api. I am aware of being able to drop in the compiled dlls into the main bin folder and to just copy over the new page files to a sub folder but I am looking for a more organized file/folder approach.
Here is the how it was done with WAP: Moving the Code-Behind Assemblies/DLLs to a different folder than /BIN with ASP.NET 1.1

I should also mention that I see that I can still do it the old way with the website project model by making the adjustment to the config section mentioned here but I was wondering if that has any side affects.

Task at hand:
I want code in VB.NET to create javascript arrays of the folder contents that can then be used on the client end. I only need arrays for all folders contained in folders starting with ad_ and an array for all the base folders . like so:

var ad_folder=["folderA","folderB","folderC","anotherFolder","etcfolder"];
var ad_code=["folderA","folderB"];
var ad_prep=["folderA","etcfolder"];

note that I do not know the number of or the names of the folders, they can be different in different cases, I only have the root path.

I have an issue of static variable in an asp.net application. Let's say I have a server with 8 CPUs running windows 2008 R2 hosting an asp.net webbsite, nothing fancy here, no funny configuration.
Is the following statement true? at any single time, there's one and only one process is running and accepting requests, even in the recycling stage. The reason I am asking is: I have a static field in my class, and I want to make that's the only static instance in the website. I've heard in some circumstances, IIS is recylcing your application, and it will start a new process, but the old process is still working, thus I will have 2 static instances in memory, which defeat the purpose of static field.
One step further, let's assume there might be 2 instances in memory, can I assume there are at most 2 instances at any single time? And can I assume once the second instance is up, the first instance will NEVER accept new requests?
Another question: Recently I have a problem with an applicationdomain concept. Looks like if an application domain causes a memory leak, unload the domain will not release the memory (Umanaged leak). So to what extent Application Domain is isolated?

I've recently began learning ASP.NET MVC.I created my first project, and added a model via Linq TO SQL. The first model handled a database table that held a list of menu items.I then created a view and the view would loop through all of the menu items returned by the controller and build a custom menu for me.
I then created a Model via Linq TO SQL to point to a table that hold's my site articles.I created a view that would itereate through all of the site articles returned by the controller and list them in the view.
Now I've taken the logic from the menu view and created a partial usercontrol view to build my menu. I've done the same thing with the SiteArticles.
How do I make the data from both of these modles availble in one view?I basically want to HTML.RenderPartial("MenuControl") in my master page and RenderPartial("ArticleControl") in the conent of the view.
I'm using the original view that i created to show articles..
So If i remove the rendering of the menucontrol user control from the master page and i call the view to show the articles, the articles will render because the controller knows to load the articles and return them to the view..
If i add the menu user control to the masterpage, I get an error because the view recieves data from the site article model/controller but not from the menu model/controller.

1- I don't want any people to delete "...../FormView.aspx" and go to this[URL] and browse the directory pages and folders names.
2- If anybody tired that, the application should redirect him to login page or home page.

I'm building an MVC 2 RTM app, and I want to be able to share my model across applications. I'd *like* to be able to implement it like:ASP.NET MVC2 app (holds Views and Controllers)Class library to hold Model(s)WCF app to handle the data transactions with the models via different data stores across apps I had the MVC app working fine, but I wanted to abstract the data stuff and be able to work with the model across apps through the WCF site, so I created a class library project and moved all of the Models classes into that and set-up a WCF app, then added project references to the MVC and WCF apps that point at the class library. The idea was I can create services that take and return objects from the model via method calls across apps. It appears that everything's wired up correctly in the MVC project, so I'm passing the objects stored in the Models class library between controllers and views and everythig is compiling just fine, but for some reason the data is not being passed back from the views to the controller on POST -- all of the properties in the classes are null or empty.
When I debug the app, I can see that the values are stored in the model data dictionary but not the model object itself. What am I doing wrong? Am I on the wrong path, or missing something obvious (to some)?

Is it possible, inside a Custom Model Binder, to fire "something" that "says" the value is invalid so it gets handled by validation part?
Basically, I am getting an exception when the value for the property is invalid.

I made a few changes to the DB in SQL server management studio then right clicked on the .edmx doc to get it to update. That seemed to work fine but when i compiled the app everything that referenced the EF seems to be broken.The Error list now contains the below error for all classes that used it.
The type or namespace name '' could not be found (are you missing a using directive or an assembly reference?)

I am trying to make a post that should use the Default Model Binder functionality in ASP.NET MVC 2 but unfortunately I can't get through. When I click on the checkout button I populate a form dinamically using jQuery code and then submit this form to the server. This is the form that get submitted

when I use Html.HiddenFor( model => model.OwnerId ) to create a hidden field, the value assigned to that field is zero. When I use <input type="hidden" value="<%: Model.OwnerId %>" /> to add the hidden field to the form, the value is assigned correctly.
Why would Html.HiddenFor( model => model.OwnerId ) not get the correct value from the Model object? Am I supposed to load model state somehow separate from returning the model object from the action method? Here is the view:

I've been used to decorating data model classes with data annotation attributes, but the purist in me baulks slightly at including purely presentational attributes such as display format here. I am, however, quite happy to keep validation centric attributes here. One good reason I have to continue keeping all annotations etc. in the data model is that my view model aggregates data model classes, e.g.
my ViewModelBase.DetailItem<TEntity> property in the view model is just a reference to an entity class in my data model. If I wanted to move presentational annotations to the view model, I would have to quite radically revise my design to one where I duplicate data model properties in my view model and use an object mapping tool to populate view model objects based on data model objects.

Say I got a domain model as follows: (and my repository expect an instance of this object)

At the moment I got it like this and have my controller action manually create a new Person object from the PersonModel object before passing it on to the repository, which does not feel right.
So I tried to have PersonModel inherit from Person and pass that to the repository (also tried casting the PersonModel to a Person object first), but that don't work out.
What's the right way to have PersonModel automatically cast to Person? I want to keep this logic as my current structure allow me to keep things really loosely coupled, with the repository layer not having a clue how it's being used.

I have recently started working on ASP.NET with MVC 2 framework, and I am facing following difficulty in validating my data,
Scenario:
In my application the view (ASPX) is divided into tabs (jQuery) and each tab's content is ViewUserControl (ASCX). The main model for the view has collection of sub models for individual tabs. I use RenderPartial method to render view user control.

In the controller ModelState.IsValid is always indicates TRUE. How do I override the validation behavior such that it as well looks the items in the collection member (which holds sub models) as well.

I am just getting started with MVC so pardon the bonehead question, as I am sure that it is one: I understand the conceptual MVC pattern and the basics of routing in the .Net MVC implementation. My first little (VS 2010, Framework 4) project works great, until I get to this: In the project there is a physical folder structure like this :

"~/Views/Recipies/Outdoor/"
"~/Views/Recipies/Breakfast/"
"~/Views/Recipies/Lunch/"
"~/Views/Recipies/Dinner/"
Each of the folders contains an Index.aspx file (View). I want to link from "~/Views/Recipies/Index.aspx" View to the other Views with something like this:

where I have created an Outdoor controller to handle the Index View. The runtime unfortunately insists on looking for the Index view in "~/Views/Outdoor" rather than in "~/Views/Recipies/Outdoor". I have no doubt that I am falling victim to my years of coding .Net Forms, am missing a link in the chain of conventions relies upon, or some other painfully obvious thing, but I am nonethless stuck.

I was nosing around with Sysinternals Procmon today, just to see where some disk activity was coming from. In the process (pardon the pun) I noticed that Visual Studio was constantly testing for the presence of a bunch of web folders which didn't exist. Procmon log: "D:wwwroot" is my web root. The folder "csharp" doesn't exist.
This happens continually, every few seconds. When I create "csharp" and those subfolders, VS stops checking for them. But they don't exist in my project file and there's no need for them as far as I know. I don't know what they are for. Does anyone know why VS wants those folders? Their absence doesn't seem to affect anything, yet VS keeps checking if they exist, which is weird.

Not quite sure what you would call these but I am looking to create sub folders for my users eg

What I have done up to this point is make a 404 page that handles unknown pages. It takes the part after the / and looks it up in the database. Then I redirect them to the relevant page.
I am having a few issues with this and to be honest am not to keen on handling it this way.
Does anyone have an alternative method for achieving this.

I recently upgraded to Windows 7 64 on my development machine. I am trying to setup my development environment. I have discovered something strange. When trying to set breakpoints in my ASP.Net application the breakpoints will only work if they are in the root folder. My ASP.Net project has various sub folders and any breakpoints in code that is stored in the sub folders turns yellow when debugging starts and states breakpoints will be missed.
I have deleted the temporary folder in c:windowsmicrosoft.netframework .... etc. etc. etc. I have checked the folder permissions in the root and all sub folders (they are the same). I have deleted and rebuilt the subfolders. I have right clicked VS2008 and said to run as administrator. Nothing seems to fix it. I can debug root level code behind pages but anything stored in a subfolder will not debug.

I am working on a project where I am using Tree View to display feeds that are available at the start up of the web application. I am also providing the user the opportunity to add new Rss Feeds and categorize them into different folders. When the user clicks on the particular web feed that they want, I need to display it using xmldatasource. When defining the XML Datasource tag and specifically the DataFile property, how can I dynamically pull over the URL based on what the user has selected from the TreeView?

I got one remote website and two local websites. All the .asp files are the same in 3 websites. In the remote website, there is a file aaa.asp, its url is
http://www.xxx.com/aaa.asp
In the first local website, the url of the same file is
http://127.0.0.1/local1/aaa.asp
In the second local website, the url of the same file is
http://127.0.0.1/local2/aaa.asp
My question is: In any .asp files (may be in different folders) of any above website, how can I get the url of aaa.asp by use the same code?

I'm working on an ASP.NET webapp using the MVP pattern, and as I'm organizing my files I'm wondering - are there conventions on folders within projects and how they relate to namespaces?
I have a bunch of controls and a bunch of pages, and I was going to throw them into Controls and Pages folders with subfolders, but I didn't know if it was bad form to do this if I wasn't also going to seperate them out into namespaces.

I want to have two different forms authentication/login pages for them. /Admin folder should use/redirect /Admin/Login.aspx and root pages should use /Login.aspx.
