System.Management.ConnectionOptions Always Requires A Password In Text?
Apr 22, 2010
I'm using WMI in .NET to connect to remote machines in a web app. When I initialize the connection, the Management ConnectionOptions always require a username and password in text. I was wondering if there was a way for it to use the context of the current Windows user, eg via page.user.identity. If I leave the connectionoptions blank then it doesn't appear to default to anything - remains null. The reason is because I don't want the user to have to enter a logon/password - that's the whole point of Windows integrated security, right?

When a user that has their IE set to save passwords hits my "Reset Password" form, the first text box set with TextMode set to "Password" is populated with the users saved password. Understandable, this is not the affect I would like as this is their "old" password. I cannot set the text of a text box with mode set to "Password" (naturally). Does someone know how to suppress or clear this value when IE is saving passwords?

Getting the following error when browsing .net 2.0 application System.Data.OracleClient requires Oracle client software version 8.1.7 or greater.
I have setup a .net 2.0 application with oracle backend on windows server 2008 R2. I have oracle client 11g installed on the server for the application to talk to the oracle database. This worked well when the .net 2.0 application was hosted on windows server 2003 and oracle client 10g. But when it is hosted on server 2008 with new oracle client it is giving the above error when browsing the page. This error occurs when the connection is opened inside the c# code.

I had been trying to solve this but there is a hidden key i wish someone point me to.
I had a simple membership database with users in first the Membership Provider configured for clear password to retrieve the original password .
Now a new requirement say that the password must be hashed and reset .
I configure the Membership password to hash , and Implemented the Reset Password Module.
My problem is as follow.
If the user is new registered user with the new configuration the password and the security answer is hashed.
also when I go and reset the password it continue to be hashed.
Now I thought that with new configuration if any previous user with clear text configuration , If he use the password Reset module , because my configuration now is hashed , I expected that the new password and security answer will be hashed . what happen is old user continue in clear text even if the configuration is hashed. so If I had new users everything is fine.
old users Membership Provider somehow know they had been stored in clear text and it keep change password and security answer in clear text . If I delete this user and create it , Membership Provider understand that everything will be hashed. I need to know how it know this , I need to migrate users not to delete and recreate users .
Also if there are no solution for that , I wish Microsoft Consider it in future cause it is a real user scenario, that can happen imagine a business system that related to membership user Id , deleting users and recreate them is not a solution .

I have a problem:
I've created usual Controller and View(Edit view) for editing my Entity (EntityFramework)
Here is view example:
<div class="editor-field">
@Html.EditorFor(model => model.BirthDate)
@Html.ValidationMessageFor(model => model.BirthDate)
</div>
BirthDate is Nullable<DateTime>
but during loading my View I get this exception
The model item passed into the dictionary is null, but this dictionary requires a non-null model item of type 'System.DateTime'.
That's because of BirthDate is null in database but it is nullable and I expect that it just leaves the filed empty.
And I have Shared EditorTemplate:
@model System.Nullable<System.DateTime>
@if (Model.HasValue)

I'm trying to create a control out of a class I found, and one of the overridden functions is the following:
protected override void PerformDataBinding(IEnumerable data)
However, when I try to build the control I'm getting the error as shown in the subject. I've tried searching, and it seems the signature for the original function matches the one I have, and all other solutions I've seen uses the same signature.

I have a SQL Server 2008 DB with many tables filled with data and I used SQL Server Management Studio to generate a SQL dump by using the Script Wizard : Tasks -> Generate Scripts -> Script All objects in the selected database and also selecting the option to Script Data. I made sure to change the value of "Script for Server Version" to "SQL Server 2008". Then I created a new DB and ran the SQL dump on the new DB to generate an identical copy of the old DB. Then I assigned permissions to my default user to the new DB. Then I changed the connection string on my ASP.NET application to use the new DB. But when I run it, it throws the following exception -
Server Error in '/myapp' Application. The 'System.Web.Security.SqlMembershipProvider' requires a database schema compatible with schema version '1'. However, the current database schema is not compatible with this version. I cannot for the life of me figure out why I cannot wrtite a file to a directory inside of the website. I have this working on a Windows 2003 Server using IIS6. I've ported this web app to a 64bit Windows 2008 server and I am unable to have my web app write a file to a directory. I have shared and given security access to everything under the sun on this server to that particular folder and still no luck. My dev workstation with Visual Studio 2010 has no probelm saving a file to that directory. So it has to be something with the web server account. I am using Windows Authentication. I have an account in our Active Directory that is being used.

ive a simple webform where a checkbox enable the send button, this check is used for disclaimer agreement and has autopostback set to true; when a user insert all the required data to register, including his password and the check is clicked the password fields are reset to null because of the postback, i need to leave the check at the bottom of my module and consecuently the users most likely select it as last control.

Iam very new to this forums as well as ASP dot Net...i was succesful to write this code in 3 to 4 ways but im not getting using the below method.
here it goes...
Task Name : Disable User Name after 3 invalid Password Attempts using "SESSIONS" & "VIEW STATE" with SQL Server as Database i want code in "C#"
In Detail :
When i Enter a User name and Password correctly and click Login it will Re-Direct to Destination Page.
But when i enter same User Name but invalid password 3 times then the user name should be blocked (After The User Name has been blocked the user will send an email to Admin that my user name has been blocked so Reset etc etc and the Admin will Reset The new Password)
Here Create the User Name & Password In SQL Table Directly. As We give the user name & password to users...also create another column in Table for an integer so that when it hits to 3 it should block the user name and also another column for status.
For Counting the values till 3 donot use static integers..instead use SESSIONS also use VIEWSTATE

I'm having a ASP.NET MVC 2 Project where I'm making some management system... The thing is that I have 4-5 controllers that are all related to a specific thing in the management system and having 4-5 diffrent view folders dosent make it any easier.. Since its "a part" of the management system I dont really see how I can make use of areas. UPDATE: For example I have a thing in my management system called "Product Management", this thing have following controllers attached:
CategoriesController =
Add/Delete/Edit categories.
ProductsController = Add/Delete/Edit
products in categories.
OrdersController = Add/Delete/Edit
orders from users.
Seems like a waste that I need to create 3 diffrent view folders for those controllers.. Would be much easier if I could create a folder under the "Views" named "Product Management" and then just create a sub folder for each controller...
