I'm hoping for something like a sharepoint widget that I can plug into my web application that would allow me to tie in with sharepoint and download documents, make edits to them, and upload them back to sharepoint, with sharepoint handling all of the versioning and storage. Basically I'm looking for a sharepoint API. If WSS is the answer to this, are there licensing issues that I need to consider?

Apr 5, 2010We have created an ASP.NET web app that upload files to WSS Doc Libary. The files get added under 'SYSTEM ACCOUNT' in the library. The FullTextSqlQuery class is used to search the document libary items. But it only searches files that has been uploaded by a windows user account like 'Administrator' and ignores the ones uploaded by 'SYSTEM ACCOUNT'. As a result the search results are empty even though we have the necessary data in the document library. What could be the reason for this?

Oct 21, 2010I have either an ASP.NET displaying my results, or a Silverlight client. And I'd like to show the current status of my server, or embedded device. (pretend the device reads temperature and humidity stats)
How should I send the status information from my device to the front end? Should I poll the device and save the results to SQL, Azure Table, or the like? (Azure is a technology that fits with this project for other reasons. That's why I mention it) Or should I create a WCF service that polls the device directly and returns the current status.

May 29, 2010im am trying to write a forum using asp.net at the moment i have threads -> topics -> comments i realised that at the moment if users try to go back (from comments to topics and to threads), they can only use the back button in the browsers i am now trying to creat a menu like the one used in this forum (at the top "home >asp.net forums > general asp.net > getting started") as at anytime you can go back to see other topics at the moment i have tried to implement the following :

i thought that if i store get the topic_id from the address bar once, and store it in the session - then when i navigate to ..?comment_id - the topic_id would remain in the seesion i thought that in theory it kind of works, but now that i am trying to explain it here, i know that the session would then = to null. Nov 27, 2010I have a very basic need in regards to membership and role management. I am having success with the membership and being able to use the [Authorize] filter, but the IsInRole() and all that goes along with it is failing. I am hoping someone can point out where I am going wrong.
1) Login action is called on the controller:

If I add a check to the site.master to show/hide a menu item based on role there are no roles listed for the user anymore. I have tried both Page.User.IsInRole("Role1") and HttpContext.Current.User.IsInRole("Role1") neither of which is true. I also receive a failure on [Authorize(Roles="Role1")] filter.

I am trying to learn linq and am about ready to give up - don't get how this is easier...
I'm trying to do a simple update to product names in the product table based on the manufacturer ID
In order to do this I am looping through each record. I was initally successful with changing all names in the column but when I try to query the data, I continually run into multiple problems.

From what i have tried so far, the Administration route catches all the routing that has the format http://<controller>/<action>/<param1>/<param2> and as a result the id / name url parameters are displayed as query url parameters.

On Farm B, I am creating Class Library project, packaging it (wsp) and then deploying to GAC. The problem is I'm unable to access the Web Service using the following code. Feb 3, 2011I need to implement the following feature for a shopping cart using profile:
1. User opens the site from Computer A and selects items which are added to the shopping cart. Now suppose the User logs in the same items should be displayed in the shopping cart as before he logged in. Now say he adds some more items to the shopping cart and logs out, then the items he added newly should also be displayed in the shopping cart.
2. If the same User as in Step1 opens the site from Computer B and logs in there should be a different profile entry for him and he is not to be shown the items that were selected in the shopping cart in Step1.
I feel I need an implementation of the profile on per user+ computer basis for logged in Users. We have this kind of requirement for a B2B site where companies will have only one common login and it will be used by many Users to order items.

Sep 8, 2010I'm having a ASP.NET MVC 2 Project where I'm making some management system... The thing is that I have 4-5 controllers that are all related to a specific thing in the management system and having 4-5 diffrent view folders dosent make it any easier.. Since its "a part" of the management system I dont really see how I can make use of areas. UPDATE: For example I have a thing in my management system called "Product Management", this thing have following controllers attached:
CategoriesController =
Add/Delete/Edit categories.
ProductsController = Add/Delete/Edit
products in categories.
OrdersController = Add/Delete/Edit
orders from users.
Seems like a waste that I need to create 3 diffrent view folders for those controllers.. Would be much easier if I could create a folder under the "Views" named "Product Management" and then just create a sub folder for each controller...
