Theme Reference Broken On Pages In Sub Folders?
Mar 7, 2011
I have a page that derives from a master page. The page has a theme defined and displays properly. If I move the page to a sub folder in the web, the theme is no longer used. I see the following generated in the tag:
<link href="http://localhost:50815/MyWeb/../App_Themes/GreenBlue/StyleSheet.css" rel="stylesheet" type="text/css"/>
So the problem is the /../ Why is this being generated? How do I fix it?
One more thing, the href above is being generated by setting the page's Theme in the markup:
<%@ Page Title="" Language="C#" MasterPageFile="~/DashboardMaster.master" AutoEventWireup="true"
CodeFile="DataSourceSetup.aspx.cs" Inherits="DataSourceSetup" Theme="GreenBlue" %>
I'm not manually adding the <link href=... It is being gnerated, and incorrectly at that.

When I right click on any folder below the App_Themes folder in VS 2010, the only web file that appears to be able to be added is the Skin file. If I pick a regular folder within the site (other than App_Themes), Style Sheet does appear.
I checked both an existing web application project (VS2008 upgraded to VS2010) and a new web application project created in VS2010 and both yield the same results.
I can create a CSS file in another folder (like the main folder) and then drag it into the theme folder, as a work around. Just trying to determine if I was missing something regarding theme folder and CSS files.

I'm using user membership and roles. Below is my web.config for subfolder restriction.
[Code]....
The way I have above, no one can access this folder, mySub, except Administrators, Editors, and Members. However, here's what I want. I want to allow all and any user to the default.aspx page of this mySub folder and denied any other pages if they're not Administrators, Editors, and Members. One last thing, also denied access to addWord.aspx if they're not Administrators and Editors. I know I can list all the pages and give them various permission but I do not want to list all the pages. What's the best and easist way to accomplish this?

Greetings I am brand spanking new to VS Studio 2010 and relatively new to ASP.Net, so be gentle in your reply.
Question: I am trying to set-up a theme which is viewable on all sub-pages.
In previous versions of VS, I could simply add <pages theme="myTheme" /> to the web.config file. Now in VS 2010 the web.config has been "refactored" and I cannot add that code ..

I have created a c# web project with Visual Studio 2010. I moved the default css file to the theme folder I had added to the project. I configured files this way: the Default.aspx is accessible by anonymous and loggedin users while all other pages are accessible by loggedin users only. I didn't use roles.
The issue is no theme is applied to the Login or Default.aspx pages if a user has not logged in.

In the code below, I am trying to apply a Dijit theme to the controls in my .aspx page. However, the controls persist in their normal, unthemed appearance.
Master Page:

<script type="text/javascript">

<body class = "tundra">

Listing folders in folders then creating arrays in JS for each of the folders?
Directory Structure:
I have a directory structure as follows;
ad_folder
--folderA
--folderB
--folderC
--anotherFolder
--etcfolder
--afile.aspx
--anotherfile.gif
ad_code
--folderA
--folderB
--afile.aspx
--anotherfile.gif
ad_prep
--folderA
--etcfolder
--afile.aspx
--anotherfile.gif
ad_bin
--etcfolder
--afile.aspx
--anotherfile.gif
other Folder
files folder
assetsfolder
index.aspx
web.config
image.gif
Task at hand:
I want code in VB.NET to create javascript arrays of the folder contents that can then be used on the client end. I only need arrays for all folders contained in folders starting with ad_ and an array for all the base folders . like so:
var folders=["ad_folder","ad_code","ad_prep","ad_bin"];
var ad_folder=["folderA","folderB","folderC","anotherFolder","etcfolder"];
var ad_code=["folderA","folderB"];
var ad_prep=["folderA","etcfolder"];
var ad_bin=["etcfolder"];
note that I do not know the number of or the names of the folders, they can be different in different cases, I only have the root path.
[code]...

From what I understand, the id of the master on an ASP.NET page is "aspnetForm". I noticed today that for some reason in one of our pages it's now "form1". What would cause this change? Where should I look for the root cause of this naming change? We've got a lot of JavaScript variables that (sign) reference "aspnetForm" that are now broken.

well i know how to apply master pages to webforms white reside in folders. but the problem is, since the master page is linked to a css file, and so when the style (background url) is applied to html element in the page which is in the folder, it doesn't work obviously since the link starts from the folder, the page is in, and not the website root.
css code:
[Code]....
normally i would expect the url to be [URL] but when i view the url from the page which is in the folder it shows [URL]

I'm wondering what would be the best solution for hidding a folder like for example "AdminFolder", and also .aspx pages inside this folder.
I have several pages inside "AdminFolder" which I (as "Administrator" :) ) plan to use for some background work on daily basis! I am using Membership shema and no one except me can not / or should not acces this area, but I'am afraid if web crawlers like google find and expose this part of my page in searching results!
I also need to create a second folder for PDF files which I also would like to hide (incl. PDF Files inside it) from web crawlers!

If my application URL is this:
http://localhost:51422/MyApp/Pages/FormView.aspx
I want 2 things:
1- I don't want any people to delete "...../FormView.aspx" and go to this[URL] and browse the directory pages and folders names.
2- If anybody tired that, the application should redirect him to login page or home page.

I was following the tutorials from this two sites:
http://www.15seconds.com/issue/070104.htm
http://aspnet.4guysfromrolla.com/articles/020404-1.aspx
Following the first site, it had worked but when I´ve moved the pages and files to other folders and set the web.config file on this folder, now it won´t work at all!!!
The file is an *.swf object. I did put the asapi.dll to map the extension on the website root, I´ve put the
[Code]....
on the web.config new folder and on the web.config website´s root.
It won´t work!!! I can access the file directly!!! on the web.config of the folder that contains the file, there is a <deny users="*" /> line.

I'm starting to play around with MasterPages in VB.NET 2005, and have run into a problem. The idea is to present a Content page with a DropDownList that has some values in it, have the user select one, then navigate to the next Content page. The resulting Content page will then display some information based on whatever value the user chose on the initial Content page.
I had done something similar to this a year or two ago (but using C# 2005, without MasterPages, and the control was a ListBox not a DropDownList) and the way I did it then was to set up an object in the Next page, then assign that the result of (ListBox)Page.PreviousPage.FindControls("ControlName"); from there I could dink around with the 'local' copy of the object and its values. So now I'm trying to do this in VB while implementing a MasterPage, but I get an Object Not Set To An Instance Of An Object error.
The code looks something like this (assume the previous page has a control ID DDLRecordSelect)
[Code]....
I thought maybe it was something funky with the ViewState so I tried it with a TextBox that had a hard-coded value, and got the same result. Am I approaching this the wrong way entirely, or is there hope? I would prefer to NOT use QueryString to pass variables between pages, because IIRC I had to use this local copy of the object business before because the ListBox results were too lengthy.

I have a nested master page. A parent master page, a child master page and a content page whose master page is the child master page. I have a reference to jQuery in the parent master page in the head section.<script type="text/javascript" src='<%#ResolveUrl("~/includes/jquery-1.4.2.min.js") %>' ></script> & Page.Header.DataBind(); in the OnLoad event.
I am using jQuery in all the pages including the master pages. However I am getting "Error: $().ready is not a function" in the content page. If I include jQuery reference in the content page it works. Question: If the reference to jQuery is in the master page head section, why aren't the content pages able to use jQuery? When I do view source, the script tag with jQuery is there and it works. The master pages and content page are merged during rendering and sent to the browser as a single html page so I am not sure when master pages are used, jQuery references break.
UPDATE:
When I changed '$.ready(function()' to 'jQuery(document).ready(function($)' it worked! I am not loading any other javascript libraries and I am not using MS Ajax.

I'm using an ASP:Menu control declared in markup as:
[Code]....
This is a simple menustrip that just gives the viewer of my webpage the ability to set the natural size of the page to something more suitable to the size of their browser window or screen resolution.
The onclick code:
[Code]....
This is ridiculously simple stuff; the Session Resolution set by the click event is checked and accounted for in Page Init and PreRender and isn't relevant to this issue.In Visual Studio 2008 Debug mode on Windows 7, the page and its Menustrip load and work just fine in Firefox and also IE8 - everything works exactly as expected.After moving the project to my deployment platform (a Windows 2003 STD Server running IIS), the page continues to work just fine in Firefox but in IE8 (from the same Win7 machine I tested IE8 with in debug mode) the Menustrip won't work in IE8... the top-level shows, but when I move my mouse over the Page Size link it doesn't pop out the various size options - the left border edge disappears but the menu items don't appear. I've verified that Javascript is enabled in IE8.

I have a panel that uses the RoundedConersExtender to round the corners on the border around the panel. It was working fine in IE7 but now in IE8 the top and bottom seem to be separated. I looked through previous questions and it seems that this was a problem with Firefox as well but no solution. Does anyone know a workaround other than using compatibility mode?

Just found out this problem. Upgraded by site to jQuery 1.5.1. I had some cascading dropdowns populating via some very simple code like this:

This code no longer runs with jQuery 1.5.1 AND unobtrusive validation active. Fails also with jquery 1.5.0. Works fine with jquery 1.4.4.

I'm having a strange issue with MVC 2.0 that I can't find any information about.
Basically, I'm adding ASP.NET 4.0 WebForms URL routing for legacy pages on an application that also has MVC pages. Once I add *any* routes.MapPageRoute to Global.asax.cs, all of my MVC ActionLinks/etc immediately break and all point to the first "MapPageRoute" that was registered.
If I comment out the first MapPageRoute line, then all of my MVC links suddenly direct to the next MapPageRoute I have defined.
what's wrong? I checked my route names and none are duplicate, and none of the routes I am adding conflict in any way to my MVC routes. It seems as though I might have some sort of web.config configuration issue?

Is there a simple way to fix elements in a html document that miss the ending tag, or /> ending? I'm using ASP.NET with c# (loads html with the help of Html Agility Pack).
An example:
<img src="www.example.com/image.jpg">
should transform into
<img src="www.example.com/image.jpg" />
or
<img src="www.example.com/image.jpg"></img>
