Unable To Update Column In Oracle 10g Table Having The Name "PURPOSE"?

Trying to update an oracle 10g table using asp.net and the oracleclient connector
Here is the sql syntax:
UPDATE tableX set PURPOSE = 'T' where REQUEST_ID = '2543'
This throws an error:
ORA-00904: "PURPOSE": invalid identifier
If I try to update a different column
UPDATE tableX set DELIVERY_COMMENTS = 'T' where REQUEST_ID = '2543'
everything works fine.
The column PURPOSE does exist and I am able to INSERT information into the PURPOSE column.

I'm trying to build an asp.net page using c# that will query a column in an Oracle database that has 20,000 rows. I want to display all rows that match this regular expression pattern "[]$".(should only have about 5 rows that match this pattern) The version of Oracle we use does not support regex so I need to find a way to do this in c# but I'm not sure how do that.

We have a site that is runnig II7 64 bit with the oracle .net 64 bit provider, when I try and open this in web developer 2010 express (I'm running windows 7 pro 64bit) it says it can't load the oracle dll as its an incorrect format. I got the impress that web developer 2010 was 64bit capable.
Ofcourse this is extremly annoying as I don't get any syntax formatting for the project or intellisense.

I cannot add a new column in existing table.
I have a two tables ['ev_event_how' & 'ev_events_event_how'] has relationship between these table.
Ex:
Table: 'ev_event_how'
UID - Event[PK]
Ex:
Table: 'ev_events_event_how'
UID - Event[FK] - Desc
I want to add a one more column[IsDelete] in both table. But Sql server is not allowing to add the new column, Showing various errors like
1.cannot add a new column-Unable to modify table.Invalid object name 'MSED_Logs.DatabaseLog'
2.TITLE: Microsoft SQL Server Management Studio
User canceled out of save dialog (MS Visual Database Tools)
How can I make it add a new column in existing table?

I am trying to update a column named td1 (smalldatetime) in a table
the sql query is :

looking in the autos window I read :sSql "update qa_segmentos set dt1 = '20/10/10 18:11:43'" String
The error that I get is:
The conversion of char data type to smalldatetime data type resulted in an out-of-range smalldatetime value.
The statement has been terminated.

I want to Update Column of a Table where ColumnName will be DropDown.SelectedValue. Example: A set of RECORDS will be displayed from a Customer Table where CUstNo ='1234' and City= 'Chicago' and Grade ='B' Once displayed I want to Update the grade to 'A' of all those customers from the above criteria. I am quite new to LINQ, and I am stuck with this probably basic problem, but haven't been able to find a solution, so I thought I could ask here.
So, I have this repository where I put my functions for data accessing, and now I need to write a function to get all the applicants that have applied for this particular advertisement, and their values too. Now, the values are stored in a separate M:N table, where every row consists of the applicantID,advertisementID and value. I just wanna append the value to every applicant that I show, so that it would look like a Ranking List.
However, I do not seem to know how to select just the name column from the Applicant table, and just the Value column from the ApplicantValue table.
And there's this Iqueryable interface that further confuses me...

Now, if I try to add to the definition of the type two columns, it says that it only messes with types, i.e. one type should be passed. So I figured I would do a ViewModel and then pass it, like this

Using VS 2008 and oracle 10g.
I have installed oracle odp.net (11.1.0.7.20). This client installation includes all VS developer tools.
All my application seems to be working ok. I have never attempted to use VS Server Explorer.
For ReportViewer I was trying to create a dataset and in the server explorer I was trying to create a new dataconnection for oracle. As soon as I click new connection I get the following error.
An unexpected error occured in Oracle Data Net provider for .NET. contact the provider vendor to resolve this problem.
Also I am unable to add a server to the server explorer. When I enter the IP address of
oracle DB Server, it gives the following error.
An error occured while connecting to 999.99.99.999

I have been strugling with this for a while and not gettting anywhere fast.I am trying to make a reorderable list using the AjaxtoolKit control ReorderList.It compiles fine and the select works, the problems come with the updates. When I try and reorder I get the following javascript warning: "Reorder failed, see details below.Couldn't find sort field 'ItemPos' in bound data."On investigating I can see that the update command it not being triggered. I can even remove it from the file code and nothing changes.So anyone any ideas what I do? I feel I need a handler in place but I cant seem to get that one figured out.The base code was taken from the toolkit examples and there is no code behind.Code Below:::::

We already have a complete Oracle database system where we have there as well a table (Oracle table name : "LTR_USERS") for usernames, passwords, emails, etc...
Now, we want to create an ASP.NET 4.0 website and we want to use the built in Login control (no need for the register / create user controls). However, we want this Login control to use that Oracle table ("LTR_USERS") to look for the username and password. How to do that?

I am using asp.net 3.5 and Oracle Providers for membership and roles. Now, using CreateUserWizard i can make user register here but for storing custom information like First name, last name, address etc. i am using couple of custom oracle tables instead of Oracle Profile Provider. In this case, i am using the USERID field which is of GUID type as primary key. Now, my problem is that i dont know how to draw information from my custom oracle tables for those users who are currently logged in. I have searched a lot in this forum and elsewhere where there are many topics relating to it but i failed to follow any of them. So, i would request you to kindly guide me to solve the issue. I'm currectly tryin to access a specific value in my database in a specific column. I'm tryin to use the primary key of the table to access the actual value in the row of that ID.
The current code:

Just iterates through the table and looking for any row with the boolean 'checkin' value is True, then it takes the 'id' value of that row and stores it into an array. Is there a way that I can access a another entry, and only that entry, in the table with the 'id' stored in the array?
Like if my data base contained and int, primarykey, `id` value, a boolean, `checkedin` value, and a `time` value, is there a way to access, lets say, the row with `id` equalling 3 and and the checkIn value from that row?
