View 5 RepliesI wrote a web project in VS 2005 using the AJAX Control Toolkit, now I'm resuming this project in a new machine and some AJAX components such as Cascade drop down doesn't works in none page.if I start a new project it works fine, so i think the problem is in the project I wrote years ago. when I try to include new ajax components I get an error message like "Attemted to read or write protected memory. this is often an indication that other memory is corrupt." and in the status bar keep saying, "adding reference to 'AjaxControlToolkit.dll'..."

WebMaxtrix never give any indication it is going to delete files that are not found in an UPDATED published site. When browsing to my site and requesing the-supposed-to-be-deleted resources I still get them in my browser.
View 2 RepliesI have built an asp.net web site with .net framework 3.5 and I am trying to avoid sending unncessary queries to my database in order not to have high server load. I have a login view in my master pages and it contains templates for anonymous users and members. To lighten my server load, I am using Sql Data Profiler and Database Tuning Advisor. I noticed that every page load triggers a stored procedure to get user role using
dbo.aspnet_UsersInRoles_GetRolesForUser stored procedure.
My question is that if it is necessary to check for every page load or I can store it somewhere and check later. is it Login View or Login Control sending queries? is it about access rules to member's pages? or is it because I used the login controls in my master page?
I'm building a shopping cart page that could potentially contain dozens of separate items. Each item has a collapsible panel that contains several form elements that can be used to customize it. Most of the cart is wrapped in an UpdatePanel so that I can avoid a full postback when the user makes changes. When there are many items in the cart, there are of course many many postback elements, all of which are included in the raw form post, even though each post is really only triggered by the change of a single element

I had it installed and then I downloaded the 2010 version of VWD and the new Ajax Toolkit and the Toolkit went away in VWD 2008.I have created the "tab" named Ajax Toolkit and followed the instructions to "Choose" items, navigated to the 3.5 Ajax Toolkit and selected it. I then clicked OK to have the controls show in the new tab. Instead of showing the controls in the tab, the tab disapeared. Now, when I attempt to create the "Ajax Toolkit" tab, I get a message: "Tab name "Ajax Toolkit" already exists." Only problem is that, this tab is not visible.

In one of the iframes i have to add a user control (menu bar) to the page, but (ofcource) when i add the usercontrol it end up in the iframe from where it was added.Is there anyway to set the position outside the iframe?. I set the position trough a public property of a hiddenfield. The position is then set with javascript.

On one page, there are several pairs of "Yes"/"No" checkboxes that act like pairs of radio buttons through the use of the ACT MutuallyExclusiveCheckBoxExtender control. They work as expected. However, when I navigate away from the page, I get a "Microsoft JScript runtime error: Sys.InvalidOperationException: Handler was not added through the Sys.UI.DomEvent.addHandler method." error in the dynamically-generated ScriptResource.ax...c2d9970 [dynamic] file.
The specific method in the dynamically-generated code is:

The element is set to any of the checkbox controls (I've removed them one-by-one and it happens to ALLof them) and the eventName is "Click". True, I don't have any explicit addHandler lines in my code, but I don't any explicit removeHandler lines either. About all I've got in the aspx code is:

The formatting of the code in this message is a bit weird, but it's basically a simple table with three columns. On each row, there's text in the first column, the checkboxes in the second column and a button in the third. I've searched high and low on the web and nearly every thread I read about his error talks about it in relationship to the use of command buttons in an ACT UpdatePanel.

The problem appears to be with the UpdatePanel1 object.
So I have a two dropdownlists which use a cascadingdropdown extender. The dropdownlists get their values from an XML file I created. Everything has been working fine, but when I tried to add a few new values to the XML file, they won't show up on the page. They show fine in the test environment when I debug the page in Visual Web Developer, but the pages don't seem to be updating. Everything else seems to be working fine; I've since made changes to other elements of my application and the changes went through fine. What could be the caus eof this? I tried copying all the information from the old XML file and creating a new one, creating a new XMLDataSource and using that as the new data source for the dropdownlists. Nothing seems to be working. What could I be doing wrong here?

There seem to be about a zillion posts on similar situations, but I can't seem to find an answer in any of them. I've tried numerous techniques that I've seen, but nothing is making a difference. I have a Master page with an UpdatePanel with a ContentPlaceholder. In the content page I have a calendar. Above the calendar are LinkButtons that trigger a Command event to switch between Day Week and Month views. In the calendar DayRender event I am adding items to each day of the calendar. Items are pulled from a database. All items are contain within a dynamically generated div to help with layout. Each event that is added is a hyperlink that takes the user to a page where they can edit details of the event.
If there are more than 4 events, I'm adding a LinkButton with the text, "(more...)". I'd like that to trigger a Command event so that I can switch to the Day view of the appropriate day:

The problem is that, while the anchor tag gets generated with the proper text and ID, no href attribute is rendered and, as a result, nothing happens when you click "(more...)". I've tried switching to a Click event, but it does the same thing. (And I need the Command event to use the code I already have in place for some other buttons.) I've tried rendering it as an asp:Hyperlink and using ClientScript.GetPostBackClientHyperlink. That gives me a hyperlink, but I don't know how to get it to trigger so it results in the server interpreting it as a Command event and linking it to the proper event handler.

I have controls which are added at run-time to a PlaceHolder control on the page which is inside an UpdatePanel. The first refresh of the UpdatePanel is fine but subsequent actions create copies of everything on the page. I get two sets of the run-time added controls on the same page. It's not smart enough to realize that the second set replaces the first set. Has anyone else seen this? Runtime added linkbuttons into UpdatePanel ;fullpostbacks instead of asyncpostback.All parameters of UpdatePanel are default. adding controls runtime like this:

View 2 RepliesI've looked all over for a solution to my problem and i haven't come across a solution that works for me, at least i can't figure out how to make them work for me.I am creating a group of rating controls and adding them to a placeholder. I want to retrieve all ratings and update my database after a button clickall worked wonderfully, i thought i was making some real progress but then i noticed i could not get the value on the server side no matter what i tried... i noticed it's overwriting the value on a postback(i am assuming) i tried adding a if not isPostback statement but then it threw a callback error. anyway here is some code:

I am having one TextBox aassociated with mask edit extender control. While editing the textbox values, value getting replaced instead of added.
Ex: Supose in my textbox if i have value as 1234, then i want to make it as 12534 so i entered 5 after 2. But am not getting result as expected, its showing as 1254 (means 3 is getting replaced with 5).
I'm quite new to the hole AJAX world,so maybe the solution for my problem is not so tricky as i think.

After adding the reference in my project, I just the drag and drop accordion control and added accordion panes, after adding the pane and clicked design view I am getting the following error. Even I added the selected index=0 properties also but I am getting same error
