AJAX :: Runtime Added Linkbuttons Into UpdatePanel - Fullpostbacks - Instead Of Asyncpostback
Mar 27, 2011
I have controls which are added at run-time to a PlaceHolder control on the page which is inside an UpdatePanel. The first refresh of the UpdatePanel is fine but subsequent actions create copies of everything on the page. I get two sets of the run-time added controls on the same page. It's not smart enough to realize that the second set replaces the first set. Has anyone else seen this? Runtime added linkbuttons into UpdatePanel ;fullpostbacks instead of asyncpostback.All parameters of UpdatePanel are default. adding controls runtime like this:
I am working on a web application project in which i add a dynamic number of LinkButtons at runtime according to user selection, each link should redirect the user to a specific web page ,but what actually happened is that the last hyperlink is the only one responded! the following code show the declaration :
''''''''Public WithEvents ItemName As LinkButton ''Public Sub AddLinkButtons ''''''''For i = FirstIndex To StopFlag ''''''''ItemName = New LinkButton ''''''''ItemName.Text = Dt.Rows(i).Item(1) ''''''''Me.ContentTD.Controls.Add(ItemName) ''''''''Next ''End Sub ''''''''Private Sub ItemName_Click(ByVal sender As Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles ItemName.Click ''''''''SelectedItemToFind.ItemFlag = 1 ''''''''SelectedItemToFind.SelectedItem = sender.Text ''''''''Response.Redirect("Default.aspx?Main=SearchResult") ''''''''End Sub
We have a fairly complex content management system where we start with a blank page with just an updatepanel, then in the init function add all the controls, this all works fine.The problem I'm having is that when the loginform control logs in, we get data back from the server that looks like:
I am building a website using ASP.net ajax. there are 3 <asp:panel> controls in the page and each contains a number of dynamic linkbuttons. these panels are contained in a <asp:updatepanel> control the page_load event fills out the first panel with linkbuttons and assigns cooresponding commandName commandArgument for them, that works. then the first panel's linkbuttons triggers the command and fill out the second panel with linkbuttons, that works too. then the seond panel's linkbuttons are supposed to fill out the third panel with linkbuttons, but that doesn't work anymore, and it seems like doing the page_load event again and filling out the first panel and the second panel's linkbuttons disppear, just like the first time the page is loaded.
I've been struggling with this for several hours now so I thought I'd give this forum a try. The problem is that I'm adding two kind of buttons (editBtn and delBtn) which show up fine but they won't fire their respective method when clicked. I also have a third button which works just fine.
I've inherited some code that is having a serious problem. On one page, there are several pairs of "Yes"/"No" checkboxes that act like pairs of radio buttons through the use of the ACT MutuallyExclusiveCheckBoxExtender control. They work as expected. However, when I navigate away from the page, I get a "Microsoft JScript runtime error: Sys.InvalidOperationException: Handler was not added through the Sys.UI.DomEvent.addHandler method." error in the dynamically-generated ScriptResource.ax...c2d9970 [dynamic] file.
The specific method in the dynamically-generated code is: var $removeHandler = Sys.UI.DomEvent.removeHandler = function Sys$UI$DomEvent$removeHandler(element, eventName, handler)
The element is set to any of the checkbox controls (I've removed them one-by-one and it happens to ALLof them) and the eventName is "Click". I gather from the code that it's trying to do a removeHandler before the addHandler for the particular element has taken place. True, I don't have any explicit addHandler lines in my code, but I don't any explicit removeHandler lines either. About all I've got in the aspx code is: [Code] ....
The formatting of the code in this message is a bit weird, but it's basically a simple table with three columns. On each row, there's text in the first column, the checkboxes in the second column and a button in the third. I've searched high and low on the web and nearly every thread I read about his error talks about it in relationship to the use of command buttons in an ACT UpdatePanel.
I have run into what seems to be a very famous problem: My updatepanel fires a full postback instead of a async postback. The normal solution is to give all controls you add dynamically an ID, which I have done, but I still get a full postback instead of my async postback. Here's the code:
So, I actually add an AsyncPostBackTrigger to the menu, so the ItemCommand event should be registered. What happends when I click an item in this contextmenu, is a full postback happends. I have been trying to play with the ChildrenAsTriggers property without help.
im showing 3 rows and 2 columns in a Gridview...I want to generate a 3rd column at runtime in a Gridview ....
only 1 LinkButton in Gridview at position row1 and column 3 only 2 LinkButton in Gridview at position row2 and column 3 only 3 LinkButton in Gridview at position row3 and column 3
My page contains a Repeater that is loaded with data asynchronously as the data becomes available, using an UpdatePanel to manage the asynchronous requests.The page contains something a little like this:
The problem being that the LinkButton does not appear to trigger a postback of any kind- there is no visible response to clicking on it and putting a break point on the event listener in the codebehind, it is never triggered. hat the linkbuttons ceased working.
This is what i am trying to do with asp.net updatepanel.i have button and a panel inside my updatepanel. when the button inside the updatepanel gets clicked i want to dynamically add new controls such as LinkButtons to my panel1 without full post back. Now when the dynamically added controls gets clicked it causes a full post pack and also not calling "LinkButton1_Click" event. i am sure i am doing something wrong here.
This is my test page (see below). As you can see, I have an UpdatePanel and everything works ok, except the google Map (of course in this test page there is only the google map). The Google Map loads perfectly on initial load, but click the button to refresh the UpdatePanel, and the google map disapears. How do I make this visible and hidden when I want it to?
I have a problem when the databound gridview is not getting refreshed by the trigger that set to the dropdown outside the update panel. Both controls on ascx control that resides on the tabpanel within aspx page. I realise that both need to be in the same contianer, but because it's an ascx, I can't use Content (but it's used on the aspx main page. How to trigger the refresh of the grid?Here's the simplified code:
The Scenario: I have an asp.net website where I show a div popup on page load for taking a few user details. When a user inputs the details, or closes the popup, I set up a flag cookie so that the popup is not displayed again for the user. The div is in the MasterPage so that it is displayed no matter on which page a user lands first time. The div contains an UpdatePanel which has all the controls required for taking the details. This whole functionality is working fine.
The Problem: Now this div popup is not showing(by setting display:none) on subsequent postbacks(which I want), but the html markup is still loading with the page unnecessarily adding to the page size. What I would idealy want to do is: Check if flag cookie is set. If no, show the popup, else remove the popup's markup from the page. Now since the div is not a server control, I cannot possibly remove it and the all the controls inside it. So, I thought of removing the UpdatePanel from the page:
protected void Page_Load(object sender, EventArgs e) { if (Request.Cookies["flag"] != null) { if (Page.Controls.Contains(updpnl_contact)) { Page.Controls.Remove(updpnl_contact); updpnl_contact.Dispose(); } } }
But I guess this tends to work with dynamically added controls only, and since the control is added at Design Time, it is not being removed. Is there any way I can achieve this?
Protected Sub ddl_selectedIndexChanged(ByVal sender As Object, ByVal e As EventArgs) Dim a As String = "" 'this does not get fired End Sub <asp:GridView ID="GridViewAssignment" runat="server" BackColor="White" BorderColor="White" BorderStyle="Ridge" BorderWidth="2px" CellPadding="3" CellSpacing="1" GridLines="None" Width="100%"> <RowStyle BackColor="#DEDFDE" ForeColor="Black" /> <FooterStyle BackColor="#C6C3C6" ForeColor="Black" /> <PagerStyle BackColor="#C6C3C6" ForeColor="Black" HorizontalAlign="Right" /> <SelectedRowStyle BackColor="#86A4CA" Font-Bold="True" ForeColor="White" /> <HeaderStyle BackColor="#808080" Font-Bold="True" ForeColor="#E7E7FF" /> </asp:GridView> Protected Sub GridViewAssignment_RowDataBound(ByVal sender As Object, ByVal e As System.Web.UI.WebControls.GridViewRowEventArgs) Handles GridViewAssignment.RowDataBound Dim dateApplicationCreatedCell As TableCell = e.Row.Cells(0) 'app created on Dim typeOfReview As TableCell = e.Row.Cells(7) 'type Dim QCCell As TableCell = e.Row.Cells(8) 'qc Dim dateReviewAssignedCell As TableCell = e.Row.Cells(9) 'date assigned Dim reviewerNameCell As TableCell = e.Row.Cells(10) 'reviewer Dim dateReviewCompletedCell As TableCell = e.Row.Cells(11) 'date completed review Dim ddl As DropDownList If e.Row.RowIndex <> -1 Then If dateReviewAssignedCell.Text.Trim = " " Then dateReviewAssignedCell.Text = Now.Date End If Dim sqlCondition As String = String.Empty If dateReviewCompletedCell.Text.Trim = " " Then Dim nameToSelect As String If reviewerNameCell.Text.Trim <> " " Then Dim dateReviewAssigned As Date = dateReviewAssignedCell.Text Dim elapsedSinceAssigned As Long = DateDiff(DateInterval.Day, dateReviewAssigned.Date, Now.Date, Microsoft.VisualBasic.FirstDayOfWeek.Monday, FirstWeekOfYear.Jan1)...............................
I need to do a partial update of a page using an UpdatePanel but I want to throw it using onkeydown. Is there a way to do this by creating a custome asyncpostback trigger.
I have a Web Form that uses Master Pages. I only tell you this part so you understand the layers.
On the page, I have a web user control. I can see public methods on that user control by simply calling userControlName.PublicMethod();
However, there is a button on this page which generates additional content. This content is based on a placeholder control and adding additional web user controls :
[Code]....
Now, on the main form, I want a submit button that will call a public method of each "subForm" that was added at runtime.
I have tried various forms of Control C = This.Page.Master.FindControl("cpBody").Findcontrol("ctl01")... etc, but can never seen to get the right combination.
I am perform some action in update panel and there is a button to perform that action after perform that action, I want to show a button which is out side of update panel.
I've an UpdatePanel where according to operations inside of this UP is filled. I've add some buttons but the buttons to not fire clicks. I've used the code
Button b = new Button(); b.Click += new EventHandler(ClickMe); ... void ClickMe(object sender, EventArgs e);
I have a control that I use to populate a cascading menu with LinkButtons. All link buttons have the same OnClick event that I want to use to load content as well as change the clicked button's color to show the user which LinkButton they have selected.
My problem is that I don't know how to access any LinkButtons other than the one that is calling the OnClick event, so any colored button remains that color when other boxes are selected.
Is there any way I can reference all LinkButtons within a Panel to clear their colors so only the selected LinkButton is colored?
In this repeater linkbuttons are generetaed with an onclick event.This onclick event sets a multiview to the corresponding view.The multiview is in an update panel as well.When a linkbutton in the repeater is clicked the corresponding view is shown, but a complete refresh of the page is done.How can this be prevented, because when I have just linkbuttons on the page (so not in a repeater) that set the multiview to the corresponding view, only the multiview is refreshed instead of the complete page
I have a pretty simple C # page that when the page first loads, a bio is diplayed in that center section based upon sql executed from my code behind. I have 4 link buttons on the page that when clicked, fill that center section with other content based upon which link button they clicked (News, Publications, Contact Info, and Presentations). I was all done, then I thought about using an UpdatePanel to get rid of the annoying "flicker" when the page posts back on the click of the link button.
I played around with the Ajax Control Toolkit Framework, and I wanted to know whether it is possible to implement this: When loading a page, a database query executes that returns a list of titles. this is quite easy so far.According to the list-count and the separate title strings, LinkButtons are rendered vertically on the page. Is it possible to also dynamically create an AnimationExtender for each LinkButton?I'd like to fade out (and delete) every LinkButton as soon as the user clicks on it, and in the same time move the LinkButtons below the faded one up by x pixels.
When the user selects an "account" we dynamically create a linkbutton with the selected dates. However, the linkbutton onclick handler doesn't fire when the button is clicked.
Dim linkBtn As New LinkButton linkBtn.Text = "blah" AddHandler linkBtn.Click, AddressOf linkButtonHandler linkBtn.ID = panelDatesRencontre.Controls.OfType(Of LinkButton).Count panelDatesRencontre.Controls.Add(linkBtn) ScriptManager1.RegisterAsyncPostBackControl(linkBtn) Dim Trigger1 As New AsyncPostBackTrigger Trigger1.ControlID = linkBtn.ID Trigger1.EventName = "Click" UpdatePanel2.Triggers.Add(Trigger1)
Answer: i make that in page_load, it seems to work
I´m using a Repeater to generate Items out of a Database. Each ReapeaterItem should include an UpdatePanel, because i have to Update the Controls inside the UpdatePanel and do not want to reload the complete page. Inside these dynamically generated UpdatePanels (each RepeaterItem has one) i´m adding up to three Checkboxes dynamically (based on the Database). These Checkboxes need to fire the "CheckedChanged" event, because on some conditions i want to enable/disable/check/uncheck Checkbox1, 2 or 3 based on business logic. ... Hope you got this so far. I´m adding all Controls and have the EventHandler Added. But the generated Code does not reflect the Event Handler. I tried OnItemDataBound, OnItemCreated, PreRender, ... Events to add the Eventhandler too, but i was not able to find the CheckBox-Control with the ID.
I´m totally lost with this and on the way to use Buttons instead of Checkboxes. From what i read so far is that with Buttons i can use the CommandName from the Button and the ItemCommand-Event from the Repeater to get a workaround, but then i need to reflect the "Check" on the Page in some way. btw, every Repeater (8) sits inside an ajaxtoolkit-accordion control. Here i give you some Code:
