Using Validators On Multiple Controls
Aug 27, 2010can we use the same validator of a control for two different buttons, or do we need to write add a validator for each control for two different buttons.

When I go to use the form in the second panel, the postback is halted by the validators in the first panel. Everything works as it should when I remove the validators.

Jun 2, 2010here is the problem I have:There are 2 textboxes: uxActiveDate, uxExpireDate. Expiredate has 2 validators attached to it:

The problem is when expire date is selected before active date, and current date, then both the error messages are displayed. I have to set priority or something so that these 2 messages are not displayed at the same time. Is it doable?
PS: Since if required field validator does not pass, then other validators dont execute, I guess there is a way to set priority so that if one validation is not passed others will not execute. Validation summery is not an option, since it does not show message client side.

Web Forms :: Adding Validators To Custom Controls?
Jan 15, 2010I'm attempting to create a custom control that extends the Table class. Inside of the table will be rendered a number of different controls based on a specified identifying property. On some of these controls, however, I need to specify validation for data types and requirement. To me, the most logical way of doing so is to add validators to the table and set their appropriate properties to specify which controls to validate. In doing so, however, I've discovered that none of the validators added will even render on the page in which the control is added. So is this a valid construct?
Here's an example of what I mean:

DataSource Controls :: Enabling The Validators Only On The Click Of A Particular Button - Is It Possible
May 3, 2010I am trying to update a database table(sql 2000 server) using a sqlCommand object. I have created a basic form and added asp.net validators to the text boxes.
I have also included an extra text box with id "UpdateStuID" which accepts a particular ID for retrieving values from the database into the other textboxes. It happens on click event of button "retrieveDeails" .
After retrieving details I have another button called "UpdateDetails" for updating the database values.
Now the problem I am facing here is that, The VALIDATORS fire up when I click on "retrieveDetails" after entering a valid ID. I guess this is because the validators fire up every time we connect to the database.
But here I am only retrieving values and later on updating them.
But because the validators fire up immediately after click on "retrieveDetails" no values are retrieved in the textboxes.
When I remove the validators everything works as expected. But I do need them when I click on "updateDetails" button.
So I want to know whether there is a way so that I can make the validators fire up only on the click of "updateDetails" button.
BTW I am using Required and RegularExpression validators.

Currently users can select multiple records and hit the order button and everything has worked well. Now I have multiple pages in my gridview, and if a user selects a few records from the first page, and then goes to the second page, all the records (checked checkboxes) disappear from the first page.

Oct 9, 2010 I create reports sometimes with a gridview and export the data to excel. Lets say I have like multiple gridviews and I wanted to export each gridview to excel under its own spreadsheet.
So gridview1, gridview2, gridview3 are exported to excel under $heet1, $heet2, $heet3.
I know how to export multiple gridviews to 1 excel sheet but I don't know how to export them separately under their own spreadsheet.
I've been researching online, and i'm continously searching, but does anyone know how to do what i'm trying to do with the gridview and excel or is this not possible?

Feb 25, 2016I am not able to find the projects related to working with excel sheets by using ClosedXML to refer. I have an excel book which contains two sheets.
In sheet 01: In column A: In B: In C:
Student name01 Student's phone number blabla
Student name02 Student's phone number blabla

In sheet 02: In column A: In B: In C:
course name01 computerscience blabla
course name02 dhfsthshbstgs blabla

now, I would like to see in two comboboxes (all the words/text presented in the column A) from two sheets, the student name and course name and then I want select any student name and course name of my choice. Afterwards, when I click on a button, my program should display the students phone number and the course name (from column B from both sheets) and related things present in the Column C D E.. of the selected things in combobox in a label or a in a textbox.
PS: I solved the following problem: I can select student name in one combobox and print the the corresponding data from the only one column B (but I worked only with one sheet). It is bit complicated for me to continue with two sheets.

I am reagin the connection string paths from a table in a database.
I am asking for your help in trying figure out my logic.
Should I use the connectionString builder in conjunction with a loop to Connect, read a record into a dataset Until therer are no more records to be read from my databse table with the database name/paths tables ?

Jun 4, 2010Would it be better to have a sp return multiple result sets and use NextResult() or have subsequent call to dr.execute.... () and hadle one result at a time?
To me using nextResult() on a multiresult datareader would be cleaner and easier - but it does not seem to be very "atomized". I guess I am wondering can the cost of executing multiple commands be neglected? Seems like executing multiple commands and receiving a single result set would also be easier to read/test/understand.
