VS 2008 - Create Mail Merge Doc Using MS Word 2003/2007?

I need to create some mail merge documents and was wondering if anyone knew the best way of doing this from asp.net. Currently I have set up .dot template files with bookmarks and then use COM to open these files pass the data and save. I can then stream the file to the users desktop. The issue i have is that to get this working when i release it is by installing Wrord on the server which I would prefer not to do.
way of passing data to word docs and then opening them to the user. The reason why i need to use word, is that the user needs to be able to modify the doc.

My users like to upload password-protected Word documents into our custom document management system. I'd like to add a validation to check for the password and refuse the upload if it has a password.
Automating Word - with COM interop - is out of the question because this is a server side application.

What is the best way to do this. I dont have access to the database since it is firewalled. It needs to be done throught the web interface. I can generate a csv file and plug it into the word document, but it seems cumbersome to me. Is there any better way to do this?

Need to do a mail merge for ASP.NET application. Considered just programatically using word directly but this has liscening implications and is not recommended [URL] So was looking into openXML / Word Automation Services. But not sure if can easily achieve a mail merge via this?

I have all the data in excel/or some of database which has forexample to and from email addresses,names etc. I need to Mail Merge data into Word Document and this word document should be editable for any additions or modifications. Need to have the ability to type in the text or attach an attachment. should be filled with all the To,CC,subject fields from database/excel sheet and send an email. I need all this on a web page so i can distribute this webpage url to the user and he can get all this.
Is there any way to do this and if some one provide me some links to work on this or send me some code for this. I really donot have any idea and need to start from starch on how to accomplish this task.

I'm working on a web app and need to stream various files. I can do pdfs, images, and older Office documents. However, when I try to do with 2007 documents, it breaks. Here is my code:

I have a Telerik Radgrid i export the data in RadGrid with gridexporting property of radgrid in Excel 2003 i.e .xls but the problem is that my some client's computers have excel 2003 and some have 2007 when this exported radgrid excel data going to be opened in 2007 this shows some message that due to .xls file going to opened in 2007 but after clicking ok button on message its allowed me to open the file, i just wanted to stop this message.

Details: The file is corrupt and cannot be opened. and then: Word found unreadable content in 'thefile.docx'. Do you want to recover the contents of this document? If you trust the source, click Yes. After clicking yes the file opens and all of the content appears correct. Including images, formatting, tracked changeds and comments, equations, etc. I have tried multiple methods along these lines to no avail. I simply want the files to open without the false-positive error messages. I am using VS2010, with the website targeted at .Net Framework 2.0.

using asp.net 4 we do a lot of Word merges at work. rather than using the complicated conditional statements of Word i want to embed my own syntax. something like:
Dear Mr. { select lastname from users where userid = 7 },
Your invoice for this quarter is: ${ select amount from invoices where userid = 7 }.......
ideally, i'd like this to get turned into: string.Format("Dear Mr. {0}, Your invoice for this quarter is: ${1}", sqlEval[0], sqlEval[1]);

How to open word document 2007 and save formate as .xps at server side.
I want the user to open word docx at server side user will click the button to open document which will be execute at server side. I want to show to my client a xps formate of docx which will be converted at server side(from .docx to .xps).
My code is running on local correctly. but at iis5.1 it's not working & giving an exception :-

My customer has a sharepoint 2007 server installation where they show a simple GUI. They want me to develop a webpart for displaying the top 10 most critical service arrends and add this to their "start" sharepoint webpage. The data is available through a stored procedure, and the gui could be as simple as a repeater. BUT, how do I make this as a webpart in sharepoint. This means I want to drag and ppsition it anywhere I want on the sharepoint GUI. I have worked with asp.net for 5 years, but never touched sharepoint.
I did some googling on the topic but what i found was very cumbersome, they said I needed to have sharepoint installed locally. Thats just not possible in the current environment. Surely its not that difficult. Can't I just develop a standard webpart and import it somehow into sharepoint?

I've used the Import/Export wizard to get data into SQL from Excel and it works great. When I want to reverse the process, however, I can't. I've gone through the wizard multiple times and I've done what I think is everything to try to get the data out. What am I doing wrong?
