VS 2008 Do A Postback Without SQLDatasource Binding
Mar 22, 2010
I have a datasource that is connected to a stored procedure and I need to do a postback on the web page but do not want the sqldatasource to do a databind. What I am doing is when I change a dropdown box to fill in some textboxes with specific dates, I do this on a postback so the textboxes are filled in with the dates. But the SQLDatasource control data binds again and shows new results in my gridview.
Is there any way to prevent this so I can just postback to fill in the textboxes?
I have a DropDownList which binds its SelectedValue to a field from an SqlDataSource. However, I need it to ignore the case when data binding, as if it's not in the correct case I recieve a lot of errors. Is this easily achievable?
how can i access the my sqldatasource selected datasource for modification and adding for example new datacolumns before binding??where is the best place to perform these modifications ?i guess SqlDataSource1_Selected is the right place, but i don't know how ?
I want to create a generic page which contains a gridview and sqldatasource. I want to put these two controls on .aspx (C#) page but bind them at runtime. It should have selectcommand, updatecommand, deletecommand and insertcommand. Stored procedures are created for that. Help is needed to make it. .
after I pass querystring parameter to page,page works as expected,but after that when I change my control parameter(dropdownlist selected value how can I set querystring to null or empty...
Two ddl inside gridview. on selecting first ddl1 fill next ddl2 by passing selected value as parameter by executing the sqldatasource select command in codebehind.code:
GridViewRow gr = (GridViewRow)((DataControlFieldCell)((DropDownList)sender).Parent).Parent; //find the control in that DropDownList d1 = (DropDownList)gr.FindControl(ddl1); DropDownList d2 = (DropDownList)gr.FindControl(ddl2); SqliaDataSource.SelectParameters.Add("@name", d1.SelectedItem.Text.ToString()); dataView dv=(dataview) SqliaDataSource.select(DataSourceSelectArguments .Empty); Error: There is no source code available for the current location. and Returns null value
I have a list of numbers I need to submit one at a time to a stored procedure to add to a table. I don't know any other way around this. The database for this is an AS400 so it's not like using mssql server. I have a connection string and use the SQLDatasource controls to select data because I can select a stored procedure with it to call. Now I need to do an update and if it was just one time of submitting information I would do it the same way. But I need to submit each number till I do them all. How can I do this? Do I still use a sqldatasource control and set the value to be pulled from like a session var and just loop through setting the session and then sqlds.databind over and over? I added a DBML but can't do that with the as400 stored procedures as far as adding them like I do mssql.
using System; using System.Collections.Generic; using System.Linq; using System.Web; using System.Web.UI; using System.Web.UI.WebControls;
[code]....
my data in gridview4 disappears when i click add to cart it shows no data again i have to pass a query from gridview 3 and then gridview 4 appears and then again if i click on add to cart in gridview 4 it shows no data.
I typically don't use the sqldatasource control but trying it out and can't seem to get the delete function working. It doesn't seem to be passing a parameter to my stored procedure. The error I get is: Procedure or function 'sp_DeleteCraigsListEntry' expects parameter '@craigslist_search_id', which was not supplied. Any thoughts?
On my web pages I display the data as mm/dd/yyyy and that is how the user will enter the dates as well. But when I pass the textbox control that has the date in it as a parameter to the SQLDataSource control, I need it to be sent in the YYYY-MM-DD format for the AS400. Is there a way it can be changed in between?
When the data is retrieved through a stored procedure using the SQLDatasource control that is binded to a gridview control, I want to change some data that is in some of the columns. Can i do this in one of the events either in the gridview or data control? I know you can do some formatting on the aspx page side such as dates, etc. but was wondering if I can do it on the vb code side?
I have a sqldatasource control that I want to get the field values from as it is selecting. Is there any way to do this in the dsControl_Selecting event for each record without binding it to any control or formview? I would like to call dsControl.DataBind and retrieve the field values.
I use the sqldatasource control a lot with stored procedures. But this time I'm using some code I found online where I am defining the new sqldatasource in the code and using it. You can see this below. I am getting a NullReferenceException on the first SelectParameters line and not sure why. Do I need to add the parameters different?
Code: Dim SqlDataSource As New System.Web.UI.WebControls.SqlDataSource() SqlDataSource.ConnectionString = ConnectionString SqlDataSource.SelectCommand = "MySprocName" SqlDataSource.SelectCommandType = SqlDataSourceCommandType.StoredProcedure SqlDataSource.SelectParameters("Distance").DefaultValue = 25 SqlDataSource.SelectParameters("ZipCode").DefaultValue = "31410" Dim arg As New DataSourceSelectArguments() Dim dv As System.Data.DataView = DirectCast(SqlDataSource.[Select](arg), System.Data.DataView)
I have a ListView that does quite a heavy query. I don't want the user to have to wait half a second to a second for the page to load. I would much rather have the page load, display the theme and then have ajax make a call to the server to run the query and bind the listview while a loading icon is displayed.
The only thing i can think of is to use the sys.application.init handler to add some javascript that calls dopostback and passes a command name. I dunno... any thoughts? Anyone do this with aspnet/ajax with update panel? I guess im trying to bind an update panel without requiring a user clicking a button.
i want bind the data from database in grid view when each text enterd in text box.any possible to do that without post back?For example i bind the customer details from customer table in grid view when i enter the customer name in textbox to search particular customer the grid view show only the particular customer details without postback
I have a Formview that is bound to an SQL database, and in its item template I have added an image button.
That image button on selection needs to postback a primary key Value (VoucherID) to be used in a second control on the same page. In VWD I can get it to post back but I can't get it to post back with the VoucherID parameter.
I can easily get it to send a querystring parameter, but I don't want to do it this way.
I need to show a gridview in a modal popup on my page but I do not see how I can bind the data to it without a postback. Even if I did do a postback, the popup would not be there. How does everyone show binded data like this in a popup? On the main page I have some filter selections that the user sets. Then based on that I use those parameters for an SQLDatasource control which is set tot he gridview. But no place to call it. I must be missing something!
Below is a line I have in my ItemTemplate of a FormView. The value in the table is null rather than true/false. Is there any way I can set the default for this to be false if it is null? Or can I do this in my stored procedure in the Select statement to return false if null?
I am trying to set come columns to invisible after all of the rows are binded but I'm having trouble. I'm hiding columns that have empty data which I save in a session variable. This works fine. Then I tried changing the columns visible property using the ColumnByName routine in the DataBound but that must be the wrong event because I do not think the columns exist yet.
The columns are autogenerated btw.
Where can I set the columns properties after it has binded? Can i do this before the columns are autogenerated the the screen itself?
I don't think there's an easy way but thought I would ask. I'm currently retrieving a table from my db and binding it to a datagrid with the AutoGenerateColumns on. One of the columns is a date and it's displaying time although it's always 12:00:00. I'd like to display the short date format in the datagrid. Is there an easy way or do I have to manipulate each row or bind the columns individually?
Okay after some further investigation it seems that this does work as expected when i run it in a standalone page, however we are using this script, and it appears that it is causing a conflict..
That script moves any href='javascript:... into the click handler, im guessing that the order the handlers are assigned may have something to do with it...
Is there a way where I can actually view the name of a post back element? Below code goves me an alert but all it says is "object HTMLSelectElement". In my case it should be DropDownList3 based upon a "selectedindexchanged" event with autoppostback=true.
Code: var pbControl = null; pbControl = args.get_postBackElement(); alert(pbControl); var ExecutingControl = "DropDownList3" if (ExecutingControl == pbControl) { alert("DropDownList3 - is the post back element");
