VS 2008 Redirect To A Certain Page At All Times?

Feb 14, 2011

I have a website I created for people in our database to update their information. So an email is sent with a link to each person. Once they click the link their profile is loaded.

Now I need to stop them accessing the site because the update period has expired. How can I redirect to a page that says "Update Period has expired" at all times.

VS 2008 - How To Redirect To Different Page When User Reach Unauthorized Page

Jul 13, 2011

This is a small intranet site.

I am using Windown Authentication.

Using Role based (Active directory groups) authorization, I am able to control the access to various web pages. If an unauthorized user reaches a web page, a small popup comes up (as shown in the attached bit map) asking for credentials. If the user clicks on "Cancel" button on the popup, it shows "Access denied" error.

Instead of showing the standard "Access denied" error, I want to redirect to another .aspx page with a more meaningful message.

VS 2008 - Redirect To A Page If File Not Found In Project

Apr 9, 2012

I'm using VS 2008, .NET 3.5. I need to redirect to a specific page if a requested file for a certain directory is not found.

Here's the example:

http://mysite/myproject/

is the directory. I want it where if you try to navigate to a page that doesn't exist in that directory, it goes to a specific page, ie:

http://mysite/myproject/badpage.aspx

this page doesn't exist, I want it to automatically redirect to:

http://mysite/myproject/myNotFoundpage.aspx

VS 2008 Want To Give A Warning On BACK Button And REDIRECT To HOME PAGE?

Jan 22, 2010

I've got a HomePage.aspx page - user clicks "NEW PROJECT" and they get brought to the NewProject.aspx page.

While on this page they click CONTINUE buttons on the page that move you through 3 stages of CASE creation.

If they click BACK - the BROWSER BACK button - I want to pop up a warning.

Quote:

Going back will return you to the client homepage, and all data entered for this project will be lost. Do you wish to proceed?

If they click NO they return to where they just were - as if they did not click BACK.

Is this possible?

If not - can I make BACK just return to the HomePage.aspx - as if all the NewProject.aspx postbacks were not new page entries in the BROWSER history.

Flickr does something like that. When you click on the "in the last minute" link and see recent photos - then click reload several times - each of those reloads does not go into BROWSER BACK history. If you click BACK you are back onto the initial [URL] home page.

Server 2008: Redirect Via IIS7 Or ASP.NET?

Jan 20, 2011

I have a domain with several sub-domains. When I attempt to redirect the root (www.somesite.com and somesite.com) it works fine, however it also forwards the sub-domains. Each sub-domain, including the root site are setup as individual sites. I don't want to forward the sub-domains only the root site.

Is this possible in IIS7 or should I just code redirect in the Index page(S)?

C# - What Happens When A Page Render Times Out

Feb 19, 2010

I have a question that I can't quite find the answer to...

If you have an ASP.Net page that takes longer than the request time-out to render what happens to that process? Does the web service abort it?

Lets say I'm writing XML to the response stream in an ASP.Net page and it times-out calling my GenerateXML method. What happens to my method call? Does it complete but the web server reports the time out? or is it aborted?

I could probably write a test to see my own results but I figure there might be more to it.

VS 2008 - Update Data But Don't Want To Use Response Redirect

Jul 5, 2011

I am just beginner to ASP.Net, want to update data showed in gridview. While clicking on Edit in gridview, data should go to controls set above the grid view like textbox,dropdownlist, fileuploader control.

I am using OnRowCommand="gvContent_RowCommand" while updating.

But generally i pass row id to pass values from grid view to controls.

For that i use : Response.Redirect("IJPUpload.aspx?id=" + id);

then on page load I used : if (string.IsNullOrEmpty(Request.QueryString["id"]) == false)

Code:
{
Id = int.Parse(Request.QueryString["id"]);
this.PutDataInControls();
btnSubmit.Text = "Update";
}
else
Id = 0;

But Now I dont want to use : Response.Redirect("IJPUpload.aspx?id=" + id);

How To Test Page And Function Load Times

Feb 14, 2010

I created a search page with a lot of different functions. The page takes about 6 seconds to load so I'd like to work on making it faster. I first want to see what functions are taking the most time. I originally tried adding Response.Write(Date.Now()) throughout the code but didn't yield accurate results. I'm guessing it that's because .NET doesn't compile things linearly?

C# - ScriptManager Adding Script Multiple Times To Page (duplicates)?

Dec 3, 2010

This is the exact same question as this unanswered one from May.

(edit) Note: this unanswered post exactly describes the behavior - extra scripts being added in the
by ScriptManager.RegisterClientScriptBlock in a usercontrol, in an UpdatePanel, is causing duplicates. C# .NET 4.0. The page is structured like this:

MasterPage
Page
UserControl1 (ascx) - loaded in code by Page
UpdatePanel
UserControl2 (ascx) - loaded in code by UserControl1

The first time the script is added as expected, in the body. The code, simply, in the UserControl2 OnInit:

ScriptManager.RegisterClientScriptBlock(Page, Page.GetType(), "myscript", script, true);

I've also tried referencing "this" instead of page, which doesn't really make sense since I don't want the same script keys duplicated on the page if the usercontrol is loaded multiple times on a page, but it didn't work anyway.

After a partial postback, the script is added again - but curiously in the
of the page, not the body, and interestingly, lacking the normal //...// wrapper that asp.net usually adds.

Another script which is added by UserControl1 is duplicated exactly the same way after a partial postback.

Web Forms :: Using A Custom Control A Variable Number Of Times On A Page?

Feb 2, 2011

I'm a newbie here. I have created a custom control that requests a set of data from a user. However, I want to be able to have a variable number (dictated by the user) of these data sets entered on each page. How can I create and refer to a variable number of instances of a user control on a single page? It's hard to explain in words, but I'm basically looking for some way to do what amounts to the following:

[code].....

Is there a straightforward way of doing this? I haven't been able to find a clear answer via Google, which brought me to this group.

AJAX :: ScriptResource.axd Is Being Invoked Several Times Per Each Aspx Page Request

I use ASP.NET Ajax in my web site and I am monitoring the HTTP requests per each page. I am surprised by the excessive call of ScriptResource.axd with different query string variables. I am pasting a sample of HTTP trace below. The call for ScriptResource.axd take lots time percentage out of total response time. Is this by design or there is something wrong with my AJAX configuration in web.config?

Actually it is degrading the performance of the application. And the user experience becoming very poor in case of lower bandwidth.
