DateTime Adding To SQL Server In Different Format?

May 24, 2010

I am struggling to find out the problem with something. Basically on this page:

[URL]

If you look at the nursery diary tab, will see an article, the first article is named "Test article for archives 1". Now the date should be 01 April 2010, but instead its showing as 04 Jan 2010.

I don't understand why. I have been looking at my insert statement and when i insert in the admin section i have a AJax date extender. And it populates the text box like so '01/04/2010'

But then when i check in my database i notice it has been added as '04/01/2010'.

What does this mean?

My insert statement is like this:

<snip>

The insert works perfectly, but the date format is inserted wrong.

DataSource Controls :: Adding A DateTime Field To A DataTable?

May 20, 2010

I'm looping through an ArrayList and creating a column in a DataTable from each field. One of my fields is a DateTime field, and I've noticed that when I create the columns, it's being changed to a String, but I need it to still be a DateTime field for sorting. I'm trying to do this, but it's not quite working.

VS 2008 - MSChart Using DateTime On X Axis?

Mar 29, 2010

I have installed the asp.net MSChart control for VS2008 and set up a chart on my webform. I am using DataBindTable in code to bind data from a LINQ query. The data for the x axis looks something like this:

Date/Time
15/03/2010 08:00:00
15/03/2010 14:00:00
15/03/2010 20:00:00
16/03/2010 08:00:00
16/03/2010 14:00:00
etc

When the chart displays the X axis only displays multiple dates, and not times, no matter what properties I try to change.

VS 2008 How To Handle Null Datetime Values Properly

Oct 25, 2010

I have a class with properties for stuff like FileNumber, OpenedDate, ClosedDate etc. When I Initialise the class I set the datetime variables to Date.MinValue.Then when I populate my textboxes I check if the value of the date variables are Date.Minvalue and I set the textbox text to an empty string.

Code:
If(File.OpenedDate = Date.MinValue, String.Empty, File.OpenedDate.ToString("yyyy/MM/dd"))
However whe I try to save the data to my sql server db I get a datetime out of range error. What is the correct way to handle these null values in my date columns?

Date Javascript Object From IE Can't Be Automatically Bound To Datetime MVC

Jan 14, 2011

I have a site that uses a jquery calendar to display events. I have noticed than when using the system from within IE (all versions) ASP.NET MVC will fail to bind the datetime to the action that send back the correct events. The sequence of events goes as follows. Calendar posts to server to get events Server ActionMethod accepts start and end date, automatically bound to datetime objects

In every browser other than IE the start and end date come through as:
Mon, 10 Jan 2011 00:00:00 GMT

When IE posts the date, it comes through as
Mon, 10 Jan 2011 00:00:00 UTC

ASP.NET MVC 2 will then fail to automatically bind this to the action method parameter. Is there a reason why this is happening?
The code that posts to the server is as follows:

data: function (start, end, callback) {
$.post('/tracker/GetTrackerEvents', { start: start.toUTCString(), end: end.toUTCString() }, function (result) { callback(result); });
},

VS 2008 Adding A Control To Page

Jan 19, 2010

I have an existing page. I drag a text box control from the tool box onto the page. When I execute the application I get error (this happens to other additional controls as well):

<asp:TextBox ID="TextBox2" runat="server"></asp:TextBox>
At this point I do not have any errors.

Now when I reference the control in the code behind, it gives me error when I execute the application.

If TextBox2.Text = "" Then
mySqlCommand.Parameters.Add(New Data.SqlClient.SqlParameter("@GroupName", Data.SqlDbType.VarChar, 50)).Value = DBNull.Value
Else
mySqlCommand.Parameters.Add(New Data.SqlClient.SqlParameter("@GroupName", Data.SqlDbType.VarChar, 50)).Value = TextBox2.Text
End If
Error2Name 'TextBox2' is not declared.
Error3Name 'TextBox2' is not declared.

VS 2008 Adding Columns To A Gridview Dynamically

Jul 13, 2010

I have seen code for adding columns at runtime but here is another scenario for you. I am using a SQLDatasource control for my gridview. And the data returned can have different columns based on the filter meaning one time I may have a column A1, A2, A3 and another time I may have A2, A3, A4. Is there any way I can look at the columns when it is binded at the beginning and add the columns first?

I really need to use the SQLDatasource though because I am connecting to an AS400 and it is using a connection already made in the webconfig and do not know any other way. I do if it was MSSQL server but not this.

Web Forms :: Adding Text Box Dynamically On C# 2008?

Feb 25, 2010

I am working on an application, where a user will enter their primary information (Name, Address, Email, Phone etc), then enter their automobile information (usually a fleet of automobiles).

My web page currently has one row of text boxes (Car Make, Year, Model, VIN, Mileage, License Plate)

Below this is a button called "Add More Cars"

What I am trying to do here is allow the user to add more cars if they have more than one that needs to be registered.

My problem is how do I do this dynamically?

2nd problem, how do I collect the data entered by the user (for all cars), to be able to write them to the database?

VS 2008 Datakey - Adding Row Dynamically To Gridview

Jul 27, 2011

I have a situation where I needed to add a row to my gridview. So say I have rows 3, 4 and 5.

My Datakeys are defined as "ID, CostingID". I did that so I can reference the two ID values I need when saving records.

here is the code in my RowDataBound event.

Basically if it is a datarow, I'm adding the value dataitems so I can get a sub total in the footer row.

Then, I have a boolean field called isDisbursement. So I sort my data by that field. So all records with the disbursement flag as true will display first.

Then as soon as the disbursement flag hits false I add a row to display the Total of the disbursement records value field.

All this works. My problem is, because I added a row at index 4 it inherits the datakey of the row that was at index 4 before. So when I'm looping through the grid rows to save the values I'm having a problem. I've attached an image so you will understand better what I'm trying to achieve. The "Total Disbursements" is the row I added. But it gets the following rows datakey because it is now at index 4.

when I do this, as soon as I reach row 4, although it doesn't have a CostingID it gets the CostingID of row 5 that used to be row 4:

Code:
Dim CostingID As Long = Convert.ToInt64(Me.grvCostings.DataKeys(row.RowIndex).Values("CostingID").ToString)
Dim strValue As String = CType(row.FindControl("txtValue"), TextBox).Text

Code:
If e.Row.RowType = DataControlRowType.DataRow Then
If Not IsDBNull(DataBinder.Eval(e.Row.DataItem, "value")) Then
_SubTotal += Convert.ToDecimal(DataBinder.Eval(e.Row.DataItem, _
"value"))
End If
