Adding AJAX Dll To 2008 Website?
Jan 13, 2010
I have many different websites under the same directory on my server. I want to know if there is a way I can register a dll for many websites once. That way, I won't have to go to each website and do reference -> add reference , etc.

I keep recieving this error when trying to add the toolkit to my application: "There was an error loading types from assembly v:my intranet etProjectinAjaxControlToolkit.dll Request for the permission of type System.Web.AspNetHostingPermission, System, Version=2.0.0.0,culture=neutral,PublicKeyToken=b77a5c561934e089 failed"
This has only recently started happening.. There are already AJAX controls on the page which still work but I want to add new ones with the new toolkit but for some reason cannot add the toolkit anymore. If I copy the toolkit to the local C: drive of my PC and add them I can , but when I then copy my page back to the server, none of the controls are working.

I am going to start and develop a e-commerce website for someone, i just wanted to now if i were to create som AJAX Controls for the site how much should i charge?
The kind of AJAX Control would be where a user clicks on a product and pops open a div element in the center of the screen with the product item and information and an add to basket button. The add to basket button will use an AJAX call and will perform the steps to add the item to the basket.
There will be other AJAX Controls i want to talk to him about but if i can have a general idea of how much this type of control would cost, then i can decide on how much other AJAX Controls can be priced.

I've read different posts on both of these issues and maybe I'm just not understanding what needs to be done. Here is my dilimma. I am running Windows Vista with IIS 6 and coding in VS 2010 using .NET 4 for the ASP.NET site. I installed the AjaxControlToolkit.NET4 in VS 2010 with no issues. I even used the TabContainer and had no problems on my machine, at least when debugging. When I publish it out and install on my remote Webserver 2008 with IIS6, I get the following errors:
Webpage error details
Message: ASP.NET Ajax client-side framework failed to load.
[code]....
I can't see the tab container...Likewise My reports (using reportviewer) on local machine are displaying perfectly but on my webserver they are not showing...

My client gave me this web solution, in it various projects, and the problematic project (for me) is the Web Site.
I've copied the code to test web server (2008) and installed VS 2008 so I could step through the code on the server due to some weirdness.
Anyhow, when I open the solution locally on my personal computer, it runs on Cassini [URL] because I'm not on a server OS. However, when I run the app on the web server, when I hit F5, it runs oh [URL].
When I'm running the code on the server, how do I point the web site to use Cassini?

I have a website which is hosted externally the primary domain is [URL]however I have since bought a new domain name [URL] which points at the same directory and default page.
I now have two problems firstly I want all traffic to come to my new domain and not the old one both users and search engines.
Secondly i have noticed in my google stats it records visits to my site as [URL] rather than the full name, again for reporting purposes it would be best if these also were reported as the full name.
I am thinking the code below added to each page on my site is the answer but wanted to check if there are any pitfalls.
If it wasnt my site wasnt hosted under the original name then I would disgard the speak-weather domain altogether.
Code:

I have an existing page. I drag a text box control from the tool box onto the page. When I execute the application I get error (this happens to other additional controls as well):
<asp:TextBox ID="TextBox2" runat="server"></asp:TextBox>
At this point I do not have any errors.
Now when I reference the control in the code behind, it gives me error when I execute the application.
If TextBox2.Text = "" Then
mySqlCommand.Parameters.Add(New Data.SqlClient.SqlParameter("@GroupName", Data.SqlDbType.VarChar, 50)).Value = DBNull.Value
Else
mySqlCommand.Parameters.Add(New Data.SqlClient.SqlParameter("@GroupName", Data.SqlDbType.VarChar, 50)).Value = TextBox2.Text
End If
Error2Name 'TextBox2' is not declared.
Error3Name 'TextBox2' is not declared.

I have seen code for adding columns at runtime but here is another scenario for you. I am using a SQLDatasource control for my gridview. And the data returned can have different columns based on the filter meaning one time I may have a column A1, A2, A3 and another time I may have A2, A3, A4. Is there any way I can look at the columns when it is binded at the beginning and add the columns first?
I really need to use the SQLDatasource though because I am connecting to an AS400 and it is using a connection already made in the webconfig and do not know any other way. I do if it was MSSQL server but not this.

I am working on an application, where a user will enter their primary information (Name, Address, Email, Phone etc), then enter their automobile information (usually a fleet of automobiles).
My web page currently has one row of text boxes (Car Make, Year, Model, VIN, Mileage, License Plate)
Below this is a button called "Add More Cars"
What I am trying to do here is allow the user to add more cars if they have more than one that needs to be registered.
My problem is how do I do this dynamically?
2nd problem, how do I collect the data entered by the user (for all cars), to be able to write them to the database?

I have a situation where I needed to add a row to my gridview. So say I have rows 3, 4 and 5.
My Datakeys are defined as "ID, CostingID". I did that so I can reference the two ID values I need when saving records.
here is the code in my RowDataBound event.
Basically if it is a datarow, I'm adding the value dataitems so I can get a sub total in the footer row.
Then, I have a boolean field called isDisbursement. So I sort my data by that field. So all records with the disbursement flag as true will display first.
Then as soon as the disbursement flag hits false I add a row to display the Total of the disbursement records value field.
All this works. My problem is, because I added a row at index 4 it inherits the datakey of the row that was at index 4 before. So when I'm looping through the grid rows to save the values I'm having a problem. I've attached an image so you will understand better what I'm trying to achieve. The "Total Disbursements" is the row I added. But it gets the following rows datakey because it is now at index 4.
when I do this, as soon as I reach row 4, although it doesn't have a CostingID it gets the CostingID of row 5 that used to be row 4:
Code:
Dim CostingID As Long = Convert.ToInt64(Me.grvCostings.DataKeys(row.RowIndex).Values("CostingID").ToString)
Dim strValue As String = CType(row.FindControl("txtValue"), TextBox).Text
Code:
If e.Row.RowType = DataControlRowType.DataRow Then
If Not IsDBNull(DataBinder.Eval(e.Row.DataItem, "value")) Then
_SubTotal += Convert.ToDecimal(DataBinder.Eval(e.Row.DataItem, _
"value"))
End If
[Code] ....

I started working on a website using 2010 Express. However, the hosting company that I am using hasn't fully implemented .NET 4.0. I'm wondering if there is a way that I can save my website for compatability with 2008 express. Then I can finish and publis using 2008 Express.

I created a web application using visual studio 2010 (.NET framework 4.0). I am trying to add this website in IIS on a remote server. The remote server only has .NET Framework 2.0. I am getting an error:
Could not load file or assembly 'projectname' or one of its dependencies. This assembly is built by a runtime newer than the currently loaded runtime and cannot be loaded.
Is there any workaround for this, without added .net framework 4.0?

I have a custom gridview control which is a class library project.I want to be able to specify the css class for the gridview which I can do.But I also want to set a default css stylesheet to the gridview. So if I don't override it using the cssclass property it must get it's cssclass from the default stylesheet I have in my project.
How can I specify the default stylesheet. I have a stylesheet in a folder called "Styles" in my project.

My C# web app requires the user to enter automobile information. The user can add information for one auto, or more (max 20).
My page has these text fields: Car Number, Car Make, Car Year, Mileage, VIN I have a button that allows the user to "Add More Cars" is to allow the user to add more than one car.
When the user clicks "Add More Cars", how can I dynamically display the text boxes, and keep track of how many cars the user has added (in order to load them to an array and write to database)

I use the sqldatasource control a lot with stored procedures. But this time I'm using some code I found online where I am defining the new sqldatasource in the code and using it. You can see this below. I am getting a NullReferenceException on the first SelectParameters line and not sure why. Do I need to add the parameters different?
Code:
Dim SqlDataSource As New System.Web.UI.WebControls.SqlDataSource()
SqlDataSource.ConnectionString = ConnectionString
SqlDataSource.SelectCommand = "MySprocName"
SqlDataSource.SelectCommandType = SqlDataSourceCommandType.StoredProcedure
SqlDataSource.SelectParameters("Distance").DefaultValue = 25
SqlDataSource.SelectParameters("ZipCode").DefaultValue = "31410"
Dim arg As New DataSourceSelectArguments()
Dim dv As System.Data.DataView = DirectCast(SqlDataSource.[Select](arg), System.Data.DataView)

We have a web site that sits on a DotNetNuke platform and all of our coded modules are written in VB.Net for consistency. However, we have been sent a web page that works as a link and it is written in C# and references a cs file in its App_Code folder. If we try and load this into our website we get an error saying that it is not written in VB we then tried converting the homepage to VB but the reference folder is very complex and written in C#. Can we load the reference file even though it is C# and reference it using VB code. The current all is OurRemService RemService = New OurRemService(); where OurRemService is a file in the App_Code folder in the web page folder. The only other way around this is for us to set it up in IIS as a virtual directory and reference it directly but we would prefer to integrate it into our website.

When I add a second website to my solution, it is putting it on a different port. My first website is running on port 50483, and my new website is running on port 55760. I was a little surprised, because I don't see the need to run them on different ports since they are seperate virtual directories.
It makes using response.redirect difficult.
