So for example the home page is 'default.aspx'.The issue is that if I click on a link like the home page from the secure page, the url becomes https://secure.example.com/default.aspx instead of http://www.example.com/default.aspx.What's a good way to handle this? View 1 RepliesI have a situation where my session variables seem to get corrupted. I Page_Load I am calling 2 subs. Each of them fills a GridView with data from a table. I am saving the content of each Data.DataTable into Session Variables:

After I call the 1st sub and I debug the session variable "mySqlDataTable1" contains all the data from the table. After I call the 2nd sub and I debug the session variable "mySqlDataTable1" has been changed and contains a mix of data from the 2 tables.
as we do in desktop app, can we use global variables in a web app. it must be client side.
i hv created a class to handle global variables, but the issue is with it. if other user login on another pc at d same time, the variable got re-initialized. i want they must be client/ user specific.
The following is an example of using session state, which i can handle with a single variable. But this example uses. well you can see it. Where I am stuck is splitting the string into the three variables. Also, I am not too sure about the ; vs. a comma delimiter that usually see. I think it is a pretty old example. View 3 RepliesSome databases that my application has to access have their name according to the current year because the ERP we work with creates a new database every year, so, now it's working with the 2010db database. There are two options (as far as I know) for the ConnectionString property of a SqlDataSource: 1) hard-code it or 2) pick it up from the web.config file.
I don't want to change manually the connection string every year, so, how can I solve this? I would need to take the value of Now.Year either in the hard-coded ConnectionString or for the Web.Config ConnectionString, but I don't know how to do that.
I have never passed along variables to a function before. I have a function here that should return true or false.
My question is, how I do this in a realtime example. How do you pass along the 4 string variables to the function and see if cbValid is true or false ?

Usually using Visual Studio's debugger is a breeze. Scanning through Locals quickly shows the values of variables, etc. However, I'm at a loss how to find out the values contained in session state variables? Can anyone give me a hand?Lets say I put a breakpoint right after:

I've got some ASP pages where the session variable values get blown away BEFORE the session times out. I can't understand it. For example: if a user logs into my ASP app using his password which is stored in a session variable, it will be fully accessible for a few minutes and then all of a sudden.....Wham session variable with password value is gone. And the session timeout is far from expired. The session variable is not being touched in any way after it gets initialized with a value.
View 3 RepliesI have several pages linked together that I want to maintain drop down selections for. I've seen a number of ways to do this with session values, etc, but I want to set the default value while still having the option of selecting other values.
Effectively, users will make selections on page 1 and then on page 2 they will use those same selections, but also potentially want to change their selections. My thought was that I could load the selections into a table in SQL in page 1 and then in page 2 call that table and set the values as variables. My question, then, is how I would set the default dropdown value to be a variable as opposed to a set value.

I have a simple gridview control. It has edit and cancel buttons for each row. User's can click on edit column and edit a row and click on save to save the record.
When the user clicks on save we get the error: ORA-01008: not all variables bound
User is allowed to edit only 3 fields and rest of the fields are only readonly. For those editable three fields, I am using EditItemTemplate. ASP.net doesn't throw any errors for the first two edititemtemplates. The problem comes only with the third field which is "BSIS Type". I tried to figure out almost 5 hours and don't know what to do.

View 4 RepliesI have a detailsview with template fields. when i go into edit mode i am trying to set the selectedvalue of a dropdownlist to be the value of the corresponding label from the item template in code behind as once i go into edit mode i loose the initial value from the detailsview and the dropdownlist defaults to the first listitem. what i am doing is onDataBinding of the detailsview i access the cell value of the label , i then assign that to a public variable but once i've exited the routine the public variable looses the value of the detailsview cell i've just assigned to it. this is the value i'm hoping to assign to the selectedvalue of the dropdownlist when i go into editmode. The reason i'm doing it this way is although i can use bind in the html to mantain the dropdownlist selected value between detailsview states once i come to update the detailview i get the following error

We are working in a web application using Session variables to store the clients ID to operate with them in all app (making orders, reports, etc....) but randomly users get the client ID of another user in any moment using the application.

It used to work when my ASP.NET site was only hosted on a single server. However once we got the load balancer installed and migrated our apps to a web farm, the code above returns the IP of the Load Balancer device and not of the client anymore.
I am working with the networking folks to determine what can be configured differently with the load balancer, but in the meantime I was wondering if there was another way I could get the client's IP other than using that IIS Server Variable?
