drag custom control onto a page inherits from checkboxlist control add to "items collection" statically in the properties window override the render method render method doesn't render the items collection directly -rather items assigned to different checkboxlist items collection that is added to an html table called htmltable with other stuff and controls added to it. I use htmltable.rendercontrol() as the only line of code within my render override
I have several divs on an asp page. All of my divs are runat="server". On the initial load of my page I set all the divs visible property to false because I dont want them to appear on the first show. Then, I have a drop down list raising postback events.
On the selected index changed event I am setting the visible property of my divs to true to make them appear on the page. However this does not work.
I discovered that, on the initial load non of my divs are added to the page's html content. So, on a postback event non existing divs can not be made to appear. If all the divs would set to visible = true on the initial load, postback event would work just expected.
Could any one tell me a way to hide divs on the initial load and make them appear on a postback event?
I'm working with asp.net 3.5 c#
I've seen a good few questions like this around but havnt actually come across any articles with the answer (maybe just been unlucky with my research!).
Basically I'm looking to have say 3 links (or buttons) on a page, which in turn will dynamically load a specific user control into an update panel with AJAX.
Then I would like the usercontrol loaded to be capable of handling postback within the update panel (basically no page refreshes) to do its processing and return output.
Does anyone have any pointers to articles/blogs covering this?
I've seen many but non covered handling postbacks from the user control or handling the postbacks within the update panel.
when i make control (visible=false) onpage load event, this mean this control is created and Make Load on Server? becasuse i have ajax html editor when i make it hidden onpageload event, all My Controls rendered fast, but when i make it visible its slow down page , althouh ajax html editor is not in any updatepanel.
last question :when any DataControl ( for example DataList)Contain Datasource (assume ArrayList) and This ArrayList is null , this datalist created ? and Make Load on Sever? and the speed of page is the same as there is no datalist?
In my base page, I have a dropdownlist control which loads different usercontrols on selectedindexchanged event.
While loading these usercontrols, my page postbacks all the page. I used updatepanel but again same problem.
Is there any way to load controls without postback?
Here is my code:

I have a control I need to hide when loading page. Not sure how to do that in a good way. This is what I have, it very briefly shows the control when page is being loaded then hides it.
Code:
<script type="text/javascript">
window.onload = function() {
document.getElementById("<%=UpdateProgress1.ClientID %>").style.display = 'none';
am adding control dynamically in button click event in asp .net i have one more button when i clicked the added control is disappeared .
I'm having some trouble with jQuery UI. I've created a dialog with jQuery UI: so far, so good. I set up a form inside the jQuery UI dialog and then it's another story. I've written a very simple page to illustrate:
<%@ Page Language="C#" AutoEventWireup="true" CodeBehind="testpage.aspx.cs" Inherits="RiverCascade.testpage" %>
<head runat="server"> [code]....
In the code above, see that I've just imported the jQuery, jQuery UI, and stylesheets and set up a page with a dialog box. There is an asp control button1 outside the dialog box and an asp control button2 inside the dialog box.
When I click on button1, the event handler gets called and all is well. However, when on click on button2, the button inside the jQuery dialog, nothing happens.Why is my web page behaving this way?
I have a simple .aspx page. I am using VS 2008. I have a microsoft chart control on the page. In the page_load event, I would like to to populate the chart control. I wrote the following code. I can see the data in the dataset. But for some reason, the data is not seen in the chart control.
Code:
protected void Page_Load(object sender, EventArgs e)
{
DataSet adataset;
string Sql = "select count " + '|'+'|' + "unit as Tenor, value from qrm.advancecurve order by days asc";
Database db = DatabaseFactory.CreateDatabase("ConnectionString_OracleQRM");

I want a browser to go full screen as soon as my page loads. Is it possible in javascript. I know the shortcut key for this F11 but requirement is on page load only.
After reading the solution provided below. I achieved full screen but here i got a trap. I was using timer to make my page postback to get fresh data after every 5 second. And here I found after every 5 sec new window opens up but I want full screen to go only once and next time content gets refreshed there itself.
I wonder if I have any other method but a hidden field to post a JSON object to the server on full postback.
Imagine you have a form (with textboxes, checkboxes, etc) and you need to post a json string when the user post the form. This means, I would post all the form values + the json string but I can't come up with any solution but a hidden field.
I have a set of links that exist in the master page. I have a css class i would like to assign to a particular one of them depending on if that is the page you are at during page load. ex: Home will have the current_page_item class if you are at the index page
This is what I have:
Code:
Protected Sub Page_Load(ByVal sender As Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles Me.Load
DirectCast(Me.Master.FindControl("ctl00_homeLi"), HtmlGenericControl).Attributes.Add("class", "'current_page_item'")
End Sub
I have a user control is shown through a SimpleModal popup (JQuery), this user control gets some data from database and displays them (the details of a record).
The problem is that this user control makes a round-trip to gets the data every PostBack for the parent page even it's hidden.
I wonder if I could make it gets its data only if the popup is appeared.
I tried to put it inside a Panel with false for Visible property and change it to true when I open the popup, but it stil call Page_Load which gets the data from database!
I want to make spider charts like this one: [URL] I want to know can I prepare it using reporting service 2008? I am using sql server 2008 as the database and working with Visual studio 2008.
View 4 RepliesHere is my requirement -
1. I need to load a user control on link click event of a link button during postback of aspx page.
2. On button click event of a save button on that aspx page, I need to read the selected values from that user control on further postback.
If I write the loadcontrol code in link_click event, the control is not recognized at all in the button_click event. When I shift it to page_init and execute only during not postback, the user control loads with default values.
i had a gridview, inside that i had a download imagebutton, on clicking this button i need to download the file.
and this gridview is inside update panel. i think trigger to be used but i used both postbacktrigger and asynchronus postback trigger. but it is not triggering the button instead it is giving error.
I want to load the data from an EXCEL 2007 file to SQL Server 2008 database. I am geting following error.
The Microsoft Office Access database engine could not find the object 'Sheet1$'. Make sure the object exists and that you spell its name and the path name correctly.
Following is the complete source code. Kindly any senior member guide me what is the problem in the following code.
[Code]....
$('#div1').load(url, {
id1=ident1,
id2=ident2
}, function() {
// Foo
})
is doing a post instead of what I thought should be a get. Is there a way to make it a get?
