VS 2010 - Limiting Viewing Time Of Videos On Vimeo (Cutting The Video Short)
May 24, 2012
A customer has a site written in ASP.NET and C# (.NET4 VS2010). I have been asked to link videos into some pages. The videos are hosted on vimeo and are flagged as private so general public can not view them (on vimeo.com). The user has stipulated that if an unregistered user (unregistered on the customers site) views a video they should only see the first 5 minutes. After those 5 minutes they should be prompted to register or log in. I'm fine with forms authentication in ASP.NET.
At this stage I do not know what type of account the customer has on vimeo, I am waiting for that information. I do not have any code examples to add.
Ideally I need to prevent users from downloading (either directly or by some other way) videos maybe by obfusticating the actual urls in some way.
What I was wondering is if controlling the length of a video being viewed from vimeo, especially in the registered/unregistered user context on an ASP.NET site.
I want to shore youtube url in to database then want to show video in datalist or gridview by using the url. in datalist there will be video player show.
Let's say we are building some public service that grabs the setup of a user (what server, user and pwd he wants to perform the call), logs in into that server and do some processing...
the process takes about 15 seconds to complete each user has a different setup (server/user/pwd), so the process needs to run against each one
if 1000 users tells the system to run the method at 1:00PM
How can I insure that the method is processed in the next 15 minutes?
What should be the correct approach to this little problem?
I'm thinking that I need to do something Asynchronously, and parallel processing could speed up things, maybe throttling the processes, maybe execute 100 calls per each 30 seconds?
I never did something like this and would love to get your feedback on ideas and future problems just to spend 100 hours of work and realize that I took a wrong road
My web site seems to be running quick. I have not deployed my web site yet, so I am the only one using it right now. The problem I have is if I am testing out the site and then I stop using it for a short period of time, when I come back the web site takes about 8-10 seconds to startup again. I did not rebuild the site I just simply stopped using it for a short period of time. It seems like after a short period of time I have to 'wake it up' again. Is this normal? How can I prevent this?
Because of some situation , I had to save users password in session state for short period of time .it unsafe holding some important data in session state?
My requirment is to display all videos by clicking that videos it want to play how to do this .how to add mediaplayer into list view and play the videos.i want to display in this format http://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=sports&aq=f
I recently upgraded from VWD 2008 Express to VWD 2010 Express. A problem has developed in that the website's graphics no longer appear in Design mode, there are "Error Creating Control" error messages that did not exist before, and also debugging errors that did not exist before. (Note: these problems did not exist when I first used VWD 2010; they may have originated with recent automatic Windows updates (I use Vista Home Premium SP2 with IIS 7)). The problem exists if I open the website either as a project file or as a website directory.
Our customer has several security cameras at their site. These cameras transmit rtmpe streams that can be accessed by using the proper url. The video itself is flv. What the customer want is the ability to view these cameras on a website, both from internet explorer, and windows mobile 6.5. How can we do this, is there some kind of component we can use that we simply can parse the rtmpe url to, and it will go fullscreen and show the video? We need to handle input as well, both from mouse and a remote control, and we planned to use javascript for that. But for now, our biggest concern is how to play the stream.
I have an ASP.NET website that worked fine using and debugging in VS2008. I went through the upgrade process opening the solution in VS2010. I can run the site, but as I make changes in the app_code folder classes, they don't seem to commpile and warn me of compile-time errors. As soon as I get to a point that calls the class, the errors show up. Sounds JIT I guess, but this isn't how it was working in 08. Is there an option that was changed in the upgrade process? This is a large project, I really don't want to break something and not find out until some obscure page is opened.
I'm MCPD developed DOTNETNUKE CMS for 2 years ago in many websites and applications for government, organizations and business companies ,It's very good CMS but its using the old ASP.net fashion with low performance. Now I'm looking for a new cutting edge open source CMS which having the following features :
- High Security - High Performance - Using the latest technologies - Stable and up to date - Free for commercial use After a small research I've found Umbraco and MojoPortal ,
I want to find whether an uploaded mov file is a video or not through asp.net(c#) code. This is to prevent uploads after changing the extension to .mov.
I have two mp4 video files on webserver, i wanted to play them in flash player(flv player) on my asp.net page, but i couldn't be able to play them, i also tried to play them in quick time player the same prob occured. but i waz giving the accurate path, there were no spaces in mp4 file names etc.
Does it need to have mp4 player(or codec etc) installed on webserver?
I have also some wmv files on that server , and i am playing perfectly using silver light player, and media player object on my website.
Now i'm currently trying to code a basic website as a project and i've run into problems regarding a search video function. having searched through the forum i still could not find a solution. What i intend to do is to have a video search web service in my website, perhaps something like this:http://www.google.com/uds/solutions/...rch/index.html. however from my limited understanding the codes provided is unable to work with VS2005? Is there a basic template that i could follow and implement for a video search function for youtubes video?
I have to break a HTML content string in to multiple lines. And each line should have some fixed characters, 50 or 60 Also I don't want to break the word..or html tags...
ex : <p>Email: <a href="mailto:someone@gmail.com">someone@gmail.com</a></p> <p><em>"Text goes <font color=red>Hello world</font> Text goes here and Text goes here Text goes here 1976."</em> </p>
I am wondering how I could implement a timeout feature in my website when after a period of non-inveracity from the user for example 20 minutes then this will redirect back to a timed out page? I'm using VB 2010
I'm building an ASP.NET MVC site where I want to limit how often authenticated users can use some functions of the site.
Although I understand how rate-limiting works fundamentally, I can't visualize how to implement it programatically without creating a major code smell.
If it matters, all of these functions are currently expressed as Actions that only accept HTTP POST. I may eventually want to implement rate-limiting for HTTP GET functions as well, so I'm looking for a solution that works for all such circumstances.
I am reading an rss feed and I am binding it to a repeater. I would like to select the 3 most recent posts. in my XPathExpression I use AddSort The data are sorted just fine but when I bind to the repeater the sort is lost.
That is my first issue. I am using xpath expression [position()<=3] to limit to 3 items. This, however, occurs prior to the sort. So, I would not be getting the 3 most recent records but rather the first three from the feed which are then sorted (if I get the sorting working properly with the repeater). Here is a code snippet.
Dim xpn As XPathNavigator = New XPathDocument(RssURL).CreateNavigator _xmlnsm = XmlHelper.GetXmlNameSpaceManager(xpn) Dim expr As XPathExpression expr = xpn.Compile(String.Format("/rss/channel/item[position()<={0}]", numRecords)) expr.AddSort("title", XmlSortOrder.Descending, XmlCaseOrder.None, "", XmlDataType.Text) Dim iterator As XPathNodeIterator = xpn.Select(expr.Expression, _xmlnsm) rptNews.DataSource = iterator rptNews.DataBind()
