Aug 3, 2010I have two mp4 video files on webserver, i wanted to play them in flash player(flv player) on my asp.net page, but i couldn't be able to play them, i also tried to play them in quick time player the same prob occured. but i waz giving the accurate path, there were no spaces in mp4 file names etc.
Does it need to have mp4 player(or codec etc) installed on webserver?
I have also some wmv files on that server , and i am playing perfectly using silver light player, and media player object on my website.

Oct 18, 2010I've tried using directshowlib-2005 by installing k-lite mega codec pack. It can't find the duration of an mp4 file or f4v file (avi, wmv and flv has no problem). I use ImediaSeeking interface of directshowlib-2005 to find duration. But in case of mp4 and f4v the GetDuration method returns zero.
I know it is a codec problem, but I do not know which codec is to be installed to get duration of mp4 as well as f4v files.

May 24, 2012A customer has a site written in ASP.NET and C# (.NET4 VS2010). I have been asked to link videos into some pages. The videos are hosted on vimeo and are flagged as private so general public can not view them (on vimeo.com). The user has stipulated that if an unregistered user (unregistered on the customers site) views a video they should only see the first 5 minutes. After those 5 minutes they should be prompted to register or log in. I'm fine with forms authentication in ASP.NET.
At this stage I do not know what type of account the customer has on vimeo, I am waiting for that information. I do not have any code examples to add.
Ideally I need to prevent users from downloading (either directly or by some other way) videos maybe by obfusticating the actual urls in some way.
What I was wondering is if controlling the length of a video being viewed from vimeo, especially in the registered/unregistered user context on an ASP.NET site.

When I right click on the xsd file that I need to generate a strongly typed dataset for I can't find the 'Advanced' properties as described in the below article (almost half way down)[URL]As I do not see the Advanced properties option I can't find the 'Custom Tool' property/option to set its value to 'MSDatasetGenerator'. Do I have to install some kind of patch on my VS 2005?

Feb 23, 2011I have a form that will accept and save a MP4 video file. I need to be able to get the dimensions of the video as well. This will be running on a server running ASP.NET 2.0 so any external libs must be able to be placed in the Bin folder as they can not be installed on the server.
how to get the information? If the same lib would let me transcode the video to flv that would be a huge bonus.
Update: The server is XP Service Pack 2 with .NET Framework (2,0,50727,0)
