just installed VS2010 from MS site.it comes with some of the membership stuff like login/register etchowever, i want to know where the database is. here is what the webconfig shows:
I have a list of paramaters eg A,P,C,K,L each paramater represent a value in the database when past in via request.querystring it returns the value from the database. the problem i am having lets say we http://localhost/default.aspx?string=P when you look at the view source of the page its changing the parameter "P" to another parameter from the list. i have approxmately 6000 clients connecting to this default page with different paramater based on their location.
Can i retrict the windows dialog to select only files from the selected folder and avoid to navigate from another folders?i am selecting from server side.
Why is there no default 'create/open' access to 'WebSites' from the VS2010 start page?
Background:I've succesfully been developing ASP.NET web applications (via WebSite method ((((Not WebProjects)))), using VisualWebDeveloper) for roughly 3 years. Personally, I prefer the WebSite method or strategy due to the decrease in both size and complexity (the web applications I build are generally for around 50-100 simultaneous users logging in and out and constantly manipulating data). I will continue bulding my sites via the 'Website' method provided VS2010 doesn't begin it's deprecation.The root of this question (which boiled into this post) came from perusing this article and this video tutorial. It's a shame to see functionality that brings with it an overall ease of use and increase in production capacity by decreasing both size and complexity of web application development... downplayed.
If the Visual Studio 2010 Development Team left this functionality out for a reason, I would very much like to know. So that I know what is going to be "sponsored by Microsoft" in a couple of years and I don't waste another second considering using the 'WebSite method' as a viable solution (as I know that I can't stick with vs2008 while rest the development community gets to evolve with the innovations implemented within vs2010)... WebSite method or the WebProjects method.
I've made two small/test Silverlight apps with VS2010 (I am new to it), having same problem with both... When I run/debug it from within VS2010, the app runs and it connects to the database fine. But when I publish it to the IIS (on the same machine VS2010 is on), the app will run, but it will not connect to the database.I'm using SQL Server authentication.The machine Windows 7 Premium (i also have the same problem on a Windows 7 Pro machine) using IIS 7.5.7600.16385
On a website such as Amazon, they usually have a prodcut description which is normally 2 - 3 paragraphs of description. Would these information be stored on a database, or would they use include files for those sections, would it be stored in an XML file? I have a website which stores everything in a database and for most of it the website works. EG, in my database, I have a table with Column Names such as ISBN Number, Book Name, Publisher Name and all of which don't go above 50 characters! In some cases, the descriptions go on and on over several paragraphs. Where should this be stored? In the table or in another location which the database references?
this might seem REALLY simple but i'm not a genius...anyway, i know i saw this somewhere: here's what i want to do: link the web.config file to my membership database...which i am going to put on a separate server on the network.
URL....This link shows a demo that let user to put origin and destination then get direction. I want to know how to add a option which is let user to use their current location as origin location (Location from).
I have a table in my database, in which a certain field holds the locations of text or doc files (the files are of a transcript for a chat session).
In the Gridview right now i able to show the link locations. But i want to have Hyperlink or Button in the links location in the Transcript Location fields.And on the click of which the txt or doc file opens up in notepad or microsoft word.
Following is my code when user enters hospital name and city, he will be navigated to this page to show location on map. Now I want to get user current location and draw the route between current location and destination. Is there any way to integrate to geocoding and geolocation?
you could create your own custom Profile provider that operates against existing database tables .i want u to help me out if u have an idea where i can get steps by steps to carry out the above operation.i know there are various options in creating profile , particularlly the use of web. configuration, the default ASPNETDB, and XML files, BUT i wish to use an existing database which i prefer.
This is code for searching latitude and longitude . so how to save into database.
function GetLocation() { var geocoder = new google.maps.Geocoder(); var address = document.getElementById("txtAddress").value; geocoder.geocode({ 'address': address }, function (results, status) { if (status == google.maps.GeocoderStatus.OK) { var latitude = results[0].geometry.location.lat();
I am building an MVC application with C# as my language which is hosted on Widows 7 IIS. A call to Add a new member to the database works, but when attempting to save the change I get the following error:
Cannot open user default database. Login failed. Login failed for user 'IIS APPPOOLmyApplication'
The SQL table was added just by adding it within VS.
When a user is registered in an MVC application using the default Register action of the Account controller, where is the user info stored? Can I specify that this user table be stored in the database of the MVC application?
I am reading about writing a custom membership provider. I want to have some linkage between application specific user info ( current orders, items the user has ordered ) and the login database. I want to hook the "register a new user" process so that a new customer is added to the customer master.
I use a dropdown to select a record and set another dropdown to a preselected value as mentioned in the record. But when I initiate the record reading, it gives me the following error which I can't resolve. dd.. has a SelectedValue which is invalid because it does not exist in the list of items. Parameter name: value
[Code]....
The vb code related to the selection dropdown is: [Code]....
I just built web based application using "Login control" from Visual Studio 2005 and having a problem for existing user to sign in from outside of my domain.Here is the error message:Cannot open user default database. Login failed.Login failed for user 'NT AUTHORITYNETWORK SERVICE'
I am in the initial stage of implementing a new webstie, which will use only twitter and facebook to login and use. So my approach is not use any Default memberhip database, just simple store the user data in my created "membership" database. I will set cookies and use sessions to restrict and grant access to various parts of the sites. So for example, the user creates an account and I set a cookie allowing him or her to traverse the site. And on each page request from the client browser check to see if my website cookie is there in the browser and if it has expired or not.
Protected Sub LoadViewer() ddl_viewer.DataSource = SQL_Viewer() ddl_viewer.DataTextField = ("view_group") ddl_viewer.DataValueField = ("view_ID") ddl_viewer.DataBind() ddl_viewer.Items.Insert(0, New ListItem("-- Choose --", "-1"))
[Code]......
this is my class

[Code]......
and this is my stored procedure
ALTER PROCEDURE [dbo].[Insert_News] -- Add the parameters for the stored procedure here @News_Title VARCHAR (500), @News_Viewer VARCHAR (500), @News_Message VARCHAR (300), @News_Author VARCHAR (100),
