Visual Studio :: 2005 - Automatically Attach The Process?
Apr 29, 2010
am using Visual Studi 2005 and asp.net 2.0. when i run the project then IE is running and i can see the output on browser, but i cant debug it because by default it is not attaching wed dev. so every time i have to go Debug menu and select Attach Process, instead of this how can we set VS will automatically attach the process.
when i attach to process results an error..plz help mewebdev.webserver.exe has stopped working.Stopped workingProblem signature:Problem Event Name: CLR20r3Problem Signature 01: webdev.webserver.exeroblem Signature 02: 9.0.0.0ignature 07: 2c9 cid=0x0409
I have just the Express version of VS2010 so no option to attach to process. I am developing a custom DotNetNuke module which runs fine by itself, but has problems when running once installed as a module in DNN. Hence I need to attach to the DNN process and see what is going on. I don't have DbgCLR.exe as it looks like they stopped including that in .NET 3.5 Framework...and I don't want to risk installing .NET 2.0 framework and mess up my dev environment.
I have loaded Web Site from HDD. Now trying attach it to process WebDev.WebServer.EXE. But in Visual Studio 2010 Web Developer Express edition of VS not exist tool Attach To Process. Is it normal? if yes,
came up with the following error when i tried to run my asp.net application. The error is : Unable to Attach. The Binding Handle is invalid.Do you wish to continue? If i click Yes, application is running but could not able to debug. Then I referred to microsoft blogs and tried the following solution control Panel-->Administrative tools-->Services-->Terminal ServicesI changed startup type to "Manual" ,restarted my machine. But it's not working for me.Even i tried by also reinstalling .net2.0, then also it's not working..It will be difficult to go thro' the code if debug fails..
So I am a beginner with .NET, Visual Studio, C#, etc. But I am wondering something about the code behind a form and a difference I am seeing in 2008 versus 2005. So lets say I have a simple Windows Form app, C#, and I throw a couple controls on it. Then I add some MessageBox.Show event handlers for the default events....in 2005 there is that little section within the code that is hidden that basically contains the code that 'registers' the controls with the system....I think. That may be a bad definition?? Basically I think that automatic code generated here just basically associates the event to the event handling code....anyway.
I can see this is 2005 (once I click the like gray box), but it does not appear anywhere in 2008. So this has to exist somewhere, and I just wanted to ask to be familiar with what is going on since I am new to this. I still have to figure out how to turn on the code line numbering in 2008, but I can google it.
suddenly, with my Visual Studio 2008 I can no longer debugging my web applications (ASP.NET 3.5). I obtain this error: Unable to start debugging on the web server. Click Help for more information. Auto-attach to process [8360] w3wp.exe' on machine 'DELL' failed. The weird thing is that I haven't done special changes to my IIS.
I've been manually adding the following line every time I create a new user control / web form in one of my ASP.NET web forms projects: Option Strict On. I can't just set it in web.config because it's a legacy project that has user controls / web forms that would bomb out if we turned on option strict for the entire site, so the current solution is to apply it to all new user controls / web forms and slowly update the older pages. Is there some sort of Visual Studio setting / template I can change so that "Option Strict On" is applied automatically when Visual Studio creates the codebehind files?
I just recently upgrade my asp.net web project from visual studio 2005 to visual studio 2010. The upgrade was successful with no problems however im missing some features with this project. The One Click Publish feature(which is greyed out) in the header area of Visual Studio 2010 and the Add Config Transforms feature which is no where to be seen when you right click on web.config. When i create a new web project straight from visual studio 2010, these options work fine.
I want to use a source control in VS2010, I know my best bet is TFS, but at the moment TFS(can't afford ). As i understand TFS is the new VSS_2005(can afford)Can VSS 2005 be use as a source control for VS 2010 solutions/projects?
I am building master page in visual studio 2005 and I have placed contentplaceholder into between <head> and </head> tag of master page, but in source view of visual studio 2005, I am getting error that says "unrecognized tag prefix or device filter" how do i get rid of this error or is this bug in visual studio 2005
Suppose I have a class library cl1 and a unit test for it that is called clt1. I can use Visual Studio's Attach to Process feature to attach to NUnit runner. This lets me debug cl1, for example set break points. It's a very helpful feature for debugging.I'm in a need of this technique in Visual Studio and IE/FF. Suppose I have a web application that utilizes cl1. This application is running via ASP.NET Web Development Server or IIS. I want to debug (set break points) in cl1. How can I do this? Please notice that it's not possible through Visual Studio itself. Because something in markup is calling cl1 classes and I can't set a break point in ASP.NET markup. I'm running Visual Studio 2010 Ultimate.
I run the start debugging option...it runs successfully. but still is shows start debugging option is shown in the Visual studio 2005 IDE. And one more problem is ::I applied break points in one page and run the application. but those break points are not detected....
I know both these software are old and that I can update to newer version. But I need to do it with those software in particular.I have Visual Studio 2005 and Visual SourceSafe 6 installed on my computer. When I try to open Visual SourceSafe 6 database using Visual SourceSafe 6 directly, I have no problem at all. Then I try to open a project solution I took from SourceSafe using Visual Studio 2005. Right away I receive this messageThe solution appears to be under source control, but its binding information cannot be found. It is possible that the MSSCCPRJ.SCC file or another item that holds the source control settings for the solution, has been deleted. Because it is not possible to recover this missing information automatically, the projects whose bindings are missing will be treated as not under source control.
Then an invite to chose a SourceSafe Database open. I click on BROWSE. First thing I noticed : The SourceSafe available databases list is empty (while I remind, it's not in SourceSafe 6. I can see there the COMMON database and the VSS database which is located on a different server on our network. Before that, I went in TOOLS->OPTIONS->SOURCE CONTROL, and make sure Visual Source Safe was selected as the Plug-in to use for a Source Control). So I click again on Browse, and locate my srcsafe.ini file. Everything is OK. It evens confirm me that my database path is \dev2k3programmationVSS and that my database name is indeed VSS. So it found it. I then click on OK.
But when I do, the Database is not added to my available list, at all. The result, I can never select a source control, ever, which end in me not being able to work connected to the main source control of our network. Everything is working fine on every other computer in our company. Only this one have problem.Did I give enough description to my problem? I really need help on this one, because working disconnected from Source Safe can give a lot of pain to our team. Can anyone give me an hand? If you need any more info, just ask.
I have installed visual studio 2008 in my system. But my website is in Framework 2.0 and have a reports in it. i have opened my website in visual studio 2008 with the Framework built in 2.0. but many times when i debug it will give a version conflict error for reports as mentioned below.
