I have looked through post build commands and afterbuild targeting but I have not been successful so far. I would like to do this straight through VS2008 if possible without needing to install anything extra, put if thats not possible then any solution would do!

Visual Studio :: One Project In Solution Opens As Website Not Web App?
Feb 24, 2010this seems to be a problem only on my new PC, not my prior PC or my coworkers PCs. But, as far as I know, I have installed VS2005 the same way, including the VS80-KB915364-X86-ENU.exe and WebApplicationProjectSetup.msi additions.
I have a VS2005 Solution called 'Intranet' made up of several web projects. One of those web projects is also called 'Intranet'. All of the projects should load as Web Application Projects, which they did on my prior PC.
Now, the 'Intranet' project seems to be opening as a Web Site project. The name of the project in the solution now shows as "C:...Intranet" instead of just "Intranet" and is not recognized as being part of the SourceSafe project(no lock icon shows). If I right-click this project, "Build Web Site" is one option.

Sep 13, 2010I have three folders , which original is build by vistual 2003 , recent ly I install vistuall 2005 on Win 7 and succesful covert one folder from vistual 2003 t0 2005 ( I forget how , I am new on win 7) , when I deat with my second folder I always get Test2( unviable) under the Solution Exporer ( vistual 2005) But I can access this folder by brows( when I try http://localhost/test2/) I get all the files under this folder , why I can see them on my vistual studio 2005???

Mar 23, 2011I have first installed VS2005 and then installed VS2008. After installing, whenever i create a solution in VS2008, i am able to create it properly. if i double-click the solution file, i am able to open the project. Recently i had a problem in my IIS 5.1 and i uninstalled it and the installed it again. After doing that whenever i try to open a VS2008 solution file, i am getting the following error The selected file is a solution file, but was created by a newer version of this application and cannot be opened.". I even tried creating a blank solution using
File->New->Project->Other Project Types-> Visual Studio Solutions-> Blank Solution.
I then added a new project to this solution. I closed the solution and again when i double-click on the newly created solution file i am getting the same error as previous one. I found some solution in the net, tried that and didn't work at all.

C# - Migrating From Website Project To Web Application Project In Visual Studio 2010 Causing All Controls To Throw Error?
Mar 29, 2011I recently updated my VS2010 website project from .NET 3.5 to 4.0. Everything was working fine in the website project. Today I decided to migrate the website to a web application project as I have learned this is the best way to work in .NET. I split out all my class files into a separate class library and copied all my other content into my new project. Then I updated all the references and web.config.
When I build the class library, everything works great. The problem is happening when I try to build/debug the web application project. It is acting like all the controls are missing and it is also throwing a bunch of compile errors about the public properties I have in my master pages.
Control errors: "The name 'INSERT CONTROL NAME HERE' does not exist in the current context"
Master page errors:'System.Web.UI.MasterPage' does not contain a definition....
It is giving these errors for every single control and master page property in my entire solution.I notice when I add a new web.form to this project, it also adds a filename.aspx.designer.cs file in addition to the .aspx and .aspx.cs file. My existing files do not have these extra files since they were created in a different .NET version.
UPDATE: It seems I was missing the step where I need to right click on the new application folder and select "Convert to web application". I just did that and it seems to be a little bit better...
Now it is choking on Literals that are inside single quotes:
<div class='<asp:Literal ID="CssClassLiteral" runat="server"></asp:Literal>'>
It doesn't see this literal when it does the conversion... Is the above valid code or should I implement that functionality another way?
Visual Studio :: Trying To Add A Class Library To A Solution In Vs2008 But Solution Icon Disappears?
Mar 20, 2010I'm trying to create a .NET solution and add class libraries to it. First - in VS2008 I go to File > New > Project > Other Project Types > Visual Studio Solutions > Blank Solution. Then - after VS2008 creates the blank solution I right click on the solution and select Add > New Project > Visual C# > Class Library. However, when I add the Class Library to the solution, the solution icon disappears from Solution Explorer (although the solution name is still in the VS2008 title bar). Why does the solution icon disappear
from the Solution Explorer when I attempt to do this?

Sep 10, 2010I am stumped by a serious issue in Vs 2008.
I created a Blank solution called HelloWorld.Then I added a new Class Library project by the name of HelloWorldService.After creation of the
Class Library project the Solution name disappeared from Solution Explorer.
As a result of which I can now only add new items into the Class Library project but cannot add new item to the solution.
This appears to be a pretty old problem as I found it in another link on the internet.

To make use of IntelliSense and the debugger, I have to manually launch Visual Web Developer 2010 Express.

At first I had trouble with thew relay-ost.secureserver.net, but now when the submitt button is clicke on my websiteI get an error message that says that there is an error in my "ContactUs.aspx.vb" file on the line containing "mailClient.send(message)" . Should I change that line or the code in the line that it referes to. I have ran "Debug" and fixed all errors in the page, but it just will no work on the website.

Upgraded Project To Visual Studio 2010, But Now Get MVC Error
Nov 9, 2010I have an asp.net mvc 1.0 project. I upgraded the project and solution to Visual Studio 2010. However, I do not want to use asp.net mvc 2.0. My app compiles under mvc 1.0. All my references are to 1.0. I have copy local true and i am referencing mvc 1.0 from a lib folder, not the GAC.However I keep getting this error:

Its like it wants to keep using asp.net mvc 2.0, because its complaining about that GetControllerInstance method. This project works fine in vs 2008.

Jan 24, 2010I created an asp.net application, and it worked on my local PC. I was using Visual Web Developer 2010 beta.
Then I uploaded almost every file (not the sln and suo files) to my shared-host unix website. This Unix website is supposed to support asp.net.
But I got this error:
Server error in application. Could not load file or assembly 'dave' or one of its dependencies.This assembly is built by a runtime newer than the currently loaded runtime and cannot be loaded Does this mean my version of the net.framework is too advanced? Or maybe the version of Visual Web Developer? Or some other reason?

Jan 28, 2011I started an app in VS2008. I did it as a web site. I installed VS 2010 (yay) today. I wanted to start over as a web project. I made a Master Page. I made content pages. One of my content pages has a form on it. Super simple text boxes and submit.
I added a folder called App_Code and placed my class files there by doing Add New Item and pasting the code into the new class. I have person and persons. The persons collection class references person. In the same folder, the persons class finds the person class. Up one level in a page's code behind, I am gettingthe error
The type or namespace name 'person' could not be found (are you missing a using directive or an assembly reference?)
For giggle, I move person.cs up a folder. Still cannot find the person. Persons collection class still CAN find person. My code behind cannot find it.
A little reading tells me I have to set that folder as an app folder in IIS. I am running Windows 7 ersonal... I cannot find IIS. If not there, I ask myself what they heck is my app running under?
for being such a noob. Anyone know what is going on here?
