When writing up a codebehind in Visual Studio for ASP.NET web forms applications, I often use the dropdowns at the top of the window to autogenerate page event handlers (e.g. Page_Load, Page_PreRender). I've noticed that sometimes Visual Studio likes to add numbers to these function names like "Page_Load1" or "Page_PreRender2".

Just as the subject says, my VS'05 installation hangs when trying to create a new website. I even installed a fresh version of VS08 along side '05 and '08 is doing the same.

Why is there no default 'create/open' access to 'WebSites' from the VS2010 start page?
Background:I've succesfully been developing ASP.NET web applications (via WebSite method ((((Not WebProjects)))), using VisualWebDeveloper) for roughly 3 years. Personally, I prefer the WebSite method or strategy due to the decrease in both size and complexity (the web applications I build are generally for around 50-100 simultaneous users logging in and out and constantly manipulating data). I will continue bulding my sites via the 'Website' method provided VS2010 doesn't begin it's deprecation.The root of this question (which boiled into this post) came from perusing this article and this video tutorial. It's a shame to see functionality that brings with it an overall ease of use and increase in production capacity by decreasing both size and complexity of web application development... downplayed.
If the Visual Studio 2010 Development Team left this functionality out for a reason, I would very much like to know. So that I know what is going to be "sponsored by Microsoft" in a couple of years and I don't waste another second considering using the 'WebSite method' as a viable solution (as I know that I can't stick with vs2008 while rest the development community gets to evolve with the innovations implemented within vs2010)... WebSite method or the WebProjects method.

I downloaded a trial version of Visual Studio 2010, created a new c# Solution and then wanted to add an ASP.NET Web Site. I am Folllowing an example in a book: ASP.NET 3.5 Enterprise Application Development with Visual Studio 2008.In the book they write that a template for createing an c# ASP.NET Web Site would be found, but whereever I search for o template in VisualStudio I cant find that for c#, I could find it for VisualBasic but that is not wath I want!

I wonder if it is possible to have a clickevent for the SlideShow control. In this case I am now showing 2 images.
Is it possible in any way have a clickevent or to handle a click on the images that is showing to open up a browser with a URL like www.google.com ?
I beleive the Click event then should be in the Image Control in somehow ?

I'm using the slideshow extender, however the images are not a standard size. The images are user supplied, and they are often displayed full size, so I can't standardize them. I need a way to resize them on the fly, and have them look good.
I've been working on this slide show off and on for some time. I've had many false starts, finding out after putting in quite a bit of time and work that there is just one thing or another that I cant't get to work. I'm hoping this ajax extender will be the answer. It won't be if I can't rezise the images.
what the extender can use as image sources? I know it can use an image on the hard drive, which is where my images are, but then I have the size problem. I tried using a webpage that uses a third party control to resizde the image, but that didn't work. I'm looking at this site: [URL] for resizing the images, can the output be used by the extender?

on another post i mentioned the problem but simplified it here! I am using ajax slideshow extender and getting images from my database
Datbase table file path example
/ ImageURL
/Members/matt//jeanette4.jpg
Code Behind
//here i open sql connection to database and retrieve images based on GUID of UserId which i add as sql parameter.//
// set the initial image
if (tblData.Rows.Count > 0)
{
imgShowImage.ImageUrl =tblData.Rows[0]["ImageUrl"].ToString();
imageLabel1.Text = tblData.Rows[0]["FirstName"].ToString();
}
}
}
[System.Web.Services.WebMethod]
[System.Web.Script.Services.ScriptMethod]
public static AjaxControlToolkit.Slide[] GetSlides()
{
AjaxControlToolkit.Slide[] slides = new AjaxControlToolkit.Slide[tblData.Rows.Count];
for (int i = 0; i < tblData.Rows.Count; i++)
{
DataRow dr = tblData.Rows[i];
slides[i] = new AjaxControlToolkit.Slide(
dr["ImageUrl"].ToString(),
dr["FirstName"].ToString(),
dr["LastName"].ToString());
}
return slides;
}
ASPX
Page shows the image
<asp:Image ID="imgShowImage" runat="server"
Height="300px" ImageAlign="Middle" />
This all works fine/ but when i set up the web config with Intelligencia.UrlRewriter code the slideshow images do not appear but the page gets divirted correctly
<rewriter>
<rewrite url="~/Matt" to="~/MembersClub/PublicProfile.aspx?Id=a8742959-aa5e-4830-9fc1-94f1b3d0bc41"/>
</rewriter>
The images are stored in a file directory named "Members".

I am working on my first ASP.NET Website using VWD and C#. I did some inital design with Expression Web 4 such as created a master page with 2 content place holders, 2 style sheets 1 for the layout and 1 for the nav menu, and some images in a folder. I started with an empty ASP.net site opened my masterpage and saved it to the VWD directory. Now my Solution Explorer contains a MasterPage and a webconfig .cs file. I would like to import the style sheets and images I mentioned earlier but I am not sure how to accomplish this. do I have to open and save as all these items or can I impot them? Do I use the ADD NEW Item command?

Newer to ASP (not VB). Running VS 2010 Ult. Basically I just need pointed in the right direction for what I am trying to accomplish. I am trying to setup a site where a user can create an account, log in and have access to only their "home page". On that home page I want them to be able to have access to their data and their data only. I have created the web site and the login, create user, change password, ect. pages using the built in controls, problem is that about the extent of my ASP'ing.
I would just like pointed in the right direction to be able to code this. Not asking for someone else to do it for me, I want to learn this on my own. I just need pointed somewhere to get me started with member pages and what not.PS - This is what I am looking to doCreate account -> Automatically create user folder and home page within -> Restrict access to only the new user and the admin

i have encountered a problem on how to load the database images to be display in the Image content in the web pages. I am currently using an Access database with a table "Images" and there are 4 columns in it. "ImageID", "ImageDescription","ImageofPicture","Description". Below is my code: Words highlighted in bold is where the problem occurs. No image is display in the Image box but theres a red cross at the top left. Image description is displaying fine in the textboxes
int MaxRows = 0;
int inc = 0;
int inc1 = 1;
int inc2 = 2;
int inc3 = 3;
System.Data.OleDb.OleDbConnection cs;
System.Data.OleDb.OleDbDataAdapter dta;
DataSet ds1;
byte[] photo_array;
protected void Page_Load(object sender, EventArgs e)
{
cs = new System.Data.OleDb.OleDbConnection();
//tell the program where the database is located
cs.ConnectionString = "Provider=Microsoft.Jet.OleDb.4.0;Data Source=C:\Users\Admin\Desktop\Website1\App_Data\Database.mdb";
ds1 = new DataSet();
string sql = "SELECT * From Images ORDER BY ImageDescription ASC";
dta = new System.Data.OleDb.OleDbDataAdapter(sql, cs);
cs.Open();
dta.Fill(ds1, "Images");
Navigation();
//MaxRows equals to the total amount of records from the database
MaxRows = ds1.Tables["Images"].Rows.Count;
}
private void Navigation()
{
//get the first records from the database
DataRow dtaRow = ds1.Tables["Images"].Rows[inc];
//get column values in the row
TextBox3.Text = dtaRow.ItemArray.GetValue(1).ToString();
TextBox7.Text = dtaRow.ItemArray.GetValue(3).ToString();
DataRow dtaRow1 = ds1.Tables["Images"].Rows[inc1];
TextBox4.Text = dtaRow1.ItemArray.GetValue(1).ToString();
TextBox2.Text = dtaRow1.ItemArray.GetValue(3).ToString();
DataRow dtaRow2 = ds1.Tables["Images"].Rows[inc2];
TextBox5.Text = dtaRow2.ItemArray.GetValue(1).ToString();
TextBox8.Text = dtaRow2.ItemArray.GetValue(3).ToString();
DataRow dtaRow3 = ds1.Tables["Images"].Rows[inc3];
TextBox6.Text = dtaRow3.ItemArray.GetValue(1).ToString();
TextBox9.Text = dtaRow3.ItemArray.GetValue(3).ToString();
//if 3rd column value is not null
if (ds1.Tables[0].Rows[inc][2] != System.DBNull.Value)
{

}

}
if (ds1.Tables[0].Rows[inc3][2] != System.DBNull.Value)
{
Image5.ImageUrl = "ImageHandler.ashx?ImageDescription=" + TextBox6.Text;
}
}
}
Code for ImageHandler.ashx:

I recently upgraded from VWD 2008 Express to VWD 2010 Express. A problem has developed in that the website's graphics no longer appear in Design mode, there are "Error Creating Control" error messages that did not exist before, and also debugging errors that did not exist before. (Note: these problems did not exist when I first used VWD 2010; they may have originated with recent automatic Windows updates (I use Vista Home Premium SP2 with IIS 7)). The problem exists if I open the website either as a project file or as a website directory.

I have a folder with a web site I'm developing which is connected to a database.Every time I move the folder to a different computer it's a pain when I have to move the database and change the connection string.
I've thought to use for the first time a database in the app_data folder and move all the database inside it.
Nevertheless, when I try to recreate all the tables in the new database for the first time with the query "create table ..." I get and error saying that "SQL CREATE TABLE" is not supported. Is there a way to manage this situation?
