Visual Studio :: Getting Website Working On New Computer?
Apr 8, 2010
I'm developing a website using Visual Studio 2010 Beta on computer 1. The site is working...I can debug, the pages render in a browser and I even have Member accounts working. Life is good.
I'm trying to move the application to the new computer (computer 2). I've downloaded Visual Studio Beta 2010 (slightly different look and feel) and copied the project over.
When I try to run the project in the new computer I'm getting the error:
Parser Error Message: Unrecognized attribute 'targetFramework'. Note that attribute names are case-sensitive.
Not sure where to go with this. The web.config file is identical on both computers. The project is set to run with .Net 4 on both computers. Not sure why the targetFramework attribute would be allowed on computer 1 but not on computer 2.Maybe the earlier version of VS 2010 on computer 1 is allowing something that shouldn't be allowed?
I installed Visual Studio 2008 in my machine. Both c# and vb.net are working properly, but my problem is asp.net is not working. If we are taking a new website project there is no design mode in default.aspx means at the bottom there is no design, source, split. If we go to View->Design then one error message is popup that there is no editor available for this Default.aspx. Again in Tools->Options->Html Designer will shows that an error occurred loading this property page. My OS is Windows Xp Professional 2002, IIS is also checked on .I don't know what to do.....
On Visual Studio's web server: dd/MM/yyyy en-US On IIS: M/d/yyyy en-US
Does "Regional and Language Options" in "Control Panel" play any role in this ? If I change the date format there in "Regional and Language Options", I see no effect in my application.
I am using Visual Studio 2008. Last few days I am getting an error while trying to add or update web reference.
"The components required to enumerate web references are not installed on this computer. re-install Visual Studio."
I tried some commands like "C:Program FilesMicrosoft Visual Studio 8Common7IDE>devenv /resetskippkgs" in VS Command prompt, still I am getting the same problem.
I also found in one post to uninstall "Microsoft Source Analysis Tool For C#" from the machine. But in my machine the tool is not installed.
I just recently upgrade my asp.net web project from visual studio 2005 to visual studio 2010. The upgrade was successful with no problems however im missing some features with this project. The One Click Publish feature(which is greyed out) in the header area of Visual Studio 2010 and the Add Config Transforms feature which is no where to be seen when you right click on web.config. When i create a new web project straight from visual studio 2010, these options work fine.
Just as the subject says, my VS'05 installation hangs when trying to create a new website. I even installed a fresh version of VS08 along side '05 and '08 is doing the same.
My client gave me this web solution, in it various projects, and the problematic project (for me) is the Web Site.
I've copied the code to test web server (2008) and installed VS 2008 so I could step through the code on the server due to some weirdness.
Anyhow, when I open the solution locally on my personal computer, it runs on Cassini [URL] because I'm not on a server OS. However, when I run the app on the web server, when I hit F5, it runs oh [URL].
When I'm running the code on the server, how do I point the web site to use Cassini?
I setup my server and Iam able to use VWD "copy website" function to move files from my local computer to my server. But is the "copy website" function not secure? When I setup my connection "by selecting FTP site" I have to enter my FTP username and password, VWD states that the password is sent unencypted in plain text and it can be intercepted. So is it bad form to use the "copy website" function?
i was trying to build a basic web form using labels and textboxes but in my tool box i couldnt find any tools can some one help me how to configure those tools in the tool box,and also in APP_DATA i couldnt find the option like ADDNEW ITEM i am currently using visual studio 2008 trail versio
I'm having problem in using breakpoint. I'm creating a website in VS2005 in ASP.Net/C# language. but the problem is i can't seem to use the breakpoint. After putting the toggle breakpoint, and i clicked start debugging. it won't hit the breakpoint. but it will start running.however at the breakpoint (it should be a big red dot), it changed to something like this.then the program will continue to run but not hitting the breakpoint. i tried my program using my friend vs2005, the breakpoint can be hit...does anyone able to help me to solve the problem? i tried to search the solution in google and here. but seems like the solution doesn't work.
I'm working on a Web Application in Visual Studio 2008. For some reason the CSS only works properly inside visual studio. I can see the CSS inside the design view of the page. When I view the page on localhost the CSS is not being applied. This is just a very simple sample that I am working with. Only 2 pages, a master page, and a default page.
I have seen ASP.NET MVC Without Visual Studio, which asks, Is it possible to produce a website based on ASP.NET MVC, without using Visual Studio?
Here's an analogy. If I want to create an ASP.NET Webforms page, I load up my favorite text editor, create a file named Something.aspx. Then I insert into that file, some boilerplate:
[code]....
And that is a working ASPNET page, created in a text editor. Drop it into an IIS virtual directory, and it's working.
What do I have to do, to make a basic,World ASPNET MVC app, in a text editor? (without Visual Studio)
Suppose I want a basic MVC app with a controller, one view, and a simple model. What files would I need to create, and what would go into them?
I'm trying to compile (using Visual Studio) an ASP.Net website with the Chilkat library. The compilation fails due to this error: Could not load file or ssembly 'ChilkatDotNet2, Version=9.0.8.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=eb5fc1fc52ef09bd' or one of its dependencies. An attempt was made to load a program with an incorrect format.
I've been told that this error occurs because of platform noncompliance. The weird thing is that although the compilation fails, the site works once accessed from a browser. My theory is that the IIS compilation uses csc.exe compiler from the Framework64 (64 bit) folder while the Visual Studio uses csc.exe compiler from the Framework (32 bit) folder. If this is acually it, how can I configure my Visual studio to run with the 64 bit compiler for ASP.Net sites? This is my current development configuration: Windows 7 (x64). Visual Studio 2008 Pro (x86 of course...). Chilkat library (x64) IIS/Asp.net (x64).
Am new to ASP.Net. There are two options (Web application and Websites) available while developing projects in web. I have the confusion of which one is better in web.
I started working on a website using 2010 Express. However, the hosting company that I am using hasn't fully implemented .NET 4.0. I'm wondering if there is a way that I can save my website for compatability with 2008 express. Then I can finish and publis using 2008 Express.
I got a problem regarding CSS in my pages. I managed to apply styles to my page using css and everything looks fine in the Design view. I ran it on IE8 and everything is working fine. Now after I returned to Visual Studio, added some rules to my CSS, and noticing that everything is working fine in the Design view, I ran it again in IE8 and nothing has changed. The rules I added was ignored and it looks the same. I ran it on Firefox and Google Chrome and it's working fine.
But if I ran my project in IE8 through IIS7.5, everything is working fine so it means, the problem is within visual studio 2010.
