Using VS2010 Pro, I started up an web site and got the message "WebDev.WebServer20.exe has stopped working" - a very similar problem was reported at
[URL]
I checked C:WINDOWSassembly and found that System 2.0.0.0 was missing (again!), reinstalled it but still got
""
System.ArgumentOutOfRangeException was unhandled
Came into work this morning and discovered that my local asp.net developmentn server has stopped working. Im getting the following page :
[Code]....
Im running visual studio of my personal PC withing my company's network.
I had the strangest bug yesterday while trying to debug in vs.net 2005....
I had an '05 web application. I clicked the "Run" button to start debugging, and the webpage popped up fine. I could run through the pages fine. Everything seemed fine....UNTIL!
Until I tried to start inserting breakpoints into my code. The application ignored them. In addition, I noticed my little green visual studio "Start Debugging" arrow (which is normally greyed out while in debug mode) was green. It was as if visual studio completely detached itself from my website I was trying to debug.
After playing around with it for a while, I realized I also had a vs.net 2008 solution open as well. My '08 solution wasn't in debug mode or anything, it was just sitting there open. I just happened to close it, not thinking anything of it, and presto! My 2005 debugger started working again!
So basically, I can't debug an '05 solution (or at least a web solution, as that's all I tried) while I also have an '08 solution open.
I recently ran into some strange problems. Changes to files that are not code-behind (and not gets compiled to a DLL) should not require you to recompile the whole website, and this has never been I problem for me. These should actually get compiled dynamically when you first access the resource, e.g. the first time when browsing an updated aspx-page in the browser.
But yesterday, during development of a website, I noticed that even the smallest changes in html, javascript or anything in the .aspx-files doesn't get reflected when I save and reload the page in my browser. Rebuilding doesn't help either, actually I'll have to do a "Rebuild All" (in Visual Studio 2008) in order to see the changes. This applies to all aspx-files in my project.
I tried with minor changes on files in another web application project on the same server, and there it works as it should. Something must has happened to this particular application, but I cannot figure out what. Do you have any ideas on how to solve this?

I upgraded from VS2008 to VS2010. If I modify an aspx page that I created in VS2008, I am not able to close the page. Visual Studio 2010 becomes not respond. I am using Windows 7 and Telerik tools. Do you know why this is?
View 2 RepliesI just recently upgrade my asp.net web project from visual studio 2005 to visual studio 2010. The upgrade was successful with no problems however im missing some features with this project. The One Click Publish feature(which is greyed out) in the header area of Visual Studio 2010 and the Add Config Transforms feature which is no where to be seen when you right click on web.config. When i create a new web project straight from visual studio 2010, these options work fine.
View 1 RepliesI tried to install Visual Studio Prof 2010 trail version in my system, but i got an error saying 'Please remove/uninstall Visual Studio 2010 load test controller' to proceed installation. i uninstalled my previous VS2008 software from system and i could not find anything like 'Remove/Uninstall Visual Studio 2010 load test controller' software in my Add/Remove Programs.
View 1 RepliesI am not very experienced with VB.NET but I have to build an application using it in order to communicate with some software. Basically, I need to be able to call this exe and have it run to perform some tasks, then close itself down.I have the tasks running on page load but since I don't want the application to actually open, I use a Me.Close() to close it once it's finished the tasks. So, the whole thing works great (the tasks are even performed) except the Me.Close() causes a message to come up saying the application "has stopped working." Is it because I'm trying to close it while it's loading itself?Any suggestions on how to achieve this in a different way?I am forced to perform these tasks in VB, so please don't just say I should not be using VB.NET for this. I know I shouldn't be but I have to.
View 2 RepliesAs I wanted to try out the new VS, I started and began working on a C# web project that I had previously started in VS2008. So far, so good. But then I noticed that Intellisense is not working at all. I have done some searching, but all I could find were some problems with the release candidate version crashing.Does anyone have any insight as to what might be causing this and how to resolve it?

I have VS2010 ultimate on my win7 64bit system installed. I can't get any of the ajax extensions or toolkit controls rendering on my designer in VS2010. When i try to drag a toolkit control onto the designer surface it just creates <p> xml nodes. This is a similar problem that this person had: [URL]
View 2 RepliesRecently I've upgraded from Visual Studio 2008 to Visual Studio 2010, however I'm having various problems when uploading my compiled web site to the live area. I'm doing exactly the same as I would have done with Visual Studio 2008, however, now I receive errors such as:
{filename}.aspx is not a pre-compiled file
masterpage.master does not exist
All these errors don't make sense. Has anyone encountered these problems before, and was a solution ever found?
I created a local copy of my website, so I could work on it in Visual Studio 2010. I am using a SQL membership provider that is running on discountAsp.net's SQL Server 2008 R2. The website works fine online, but when I run the website from Visual Studio, I can't log in. It's strange because if I open up my website in Visual Studio I can still use my admin pages to add and delete users, view users info, change passwords, etc., but I just can't get authenticated. This just makes it hard to test my pages that are restricted to certain users and roles.
View 3 RepliesI'm thinking about installing vwd 2010 or vs 2010 express but want to know if either offer integrated jquery support.
View 4 RepliesI have a website written in html and jquery that is working fine in safari or chrome, but its iframe not working in ie8. I debug it in visual studio 2010 express, and get "Microsoft JScript runtime error: Object doesn't support this property or method" in ui.tabs.js.
View 5 RepliesHas anyone deployed a website using the login database in the visual studio 2010 asp website template? I was wondering if I could look at someone's example to see how the integrated this into their website.

how I can enable .asp files in a simple VS2010 Website project? For example: Start VS2010 Click "File/New Web Site..." Accept defaults Add an html file called "Test.asp" Attempt to open Test.asp (debug project with that file active) and you get the following error: "This type of page is not served. ... is not server because it has been explicitly forbidden. The extension '.asp' may be incorrect " SO, HOW DO I EXPLICITLY ALLOW IT? VS2010 is using the ASP.NET Development Server....
View 2 RepliesI have a website which created first by Visual Studio 2005, then I convert in to Visual Studio 2008 and currently using Visual Studio 2008. After Visual Studio 2010 Service Pack 1, HTML 5 and CSS 3 seem to be available. I want to convert my website to a VS 2010 website which uses HTML5.
How can this be done?
Is it possible to convert it to an ASP.NET Web Application while I'm porting it from VS2008 to Visual Studio 2010 ?
I know how to convert a website to web application in Visual Studio 2008 but I haven't used Visual Studio 2010 and have no idea about the differences.
Where is AJAx Website template in VS 2010 Ultimate?
View 4 Replies would like to ask about how can I insert a menu bar in a Web site that is created in visual studio 2010.
