Visual Studio :: How To Avoid Transaction Number Duplicated
Feb 16, 2010
I am New to VB.NET, Iam having a problem such as transaction numberDuplicatiion, Because so many users using a application, Some times transaction trnumber has been duplicatedIn my code i open LOCATION TABLE AND FETCH JOURNAL NUMBERAND INCREASE JOURNAL NUMBER WITH 1 AND THEN UPDATED.SOME TIMES JOURNAL NUMBER HAS BEEN DUPLICATED IN TRANSACTION FILE
Recently, I am working on the website where I am generating random number and storing it in database as the primary key. So, this key would be foreign key for many table, now how would I generate the random number and check if random number does not have duplication? Is there any function to check if number is not duplicate?
We all know that we should only be publishing our ASP.NET Web Applications with release build type, so why do I not get a warning when I trigger the "Publish" command in Visual Studio 2008, for a project configured to build in debug mode? Sure, there might be cases where I need to publish a debug build to a development or test environment, but answering yes in a confirmation dialog would be acceptable in these cases. Is there an option that I have overlooked, forcing Visual Studio to warn me every time I try to publish a debug build? Yes, we could just ban using the "Publish" command and use a more solid build management tool, but this involves a change of process and right not be an option in this particular case.
This is strange behavior that I've noticed with Visual Studio. I'm correcting some namespace and scope issues with in a project. When I start to address the issues with one of the files I start off with 12 errors. Then I open the file and the number of errors increase to 36. But then when the file is open and I build the project it says that there are only 12 errors. Why would it show that there are 36 errors initially when there are really only 12 when the solution is built?
What I (think I) understand is that the connection to the ASP.NET session database is sometimes enlisted in my business transaction, and I get this error when my business transaction is completing first.
There is a couple of problem with that:
I don't think the transaction for the session state should be the same as my business one. These are 2 separate concerns. It makes the transaction automatically escalate to a distributed (MSDTC) one, which impacts my performance.
How do I decouple my business transaction from the ASP.NET session one?
When writing up a codebehind in Visual Studio for ASP.NET web forms applications, I often use the dropdowns at the top of the window to autogenerate page event handlers (e.g. Page_Load, Page_PreRender). I've noticed that sometimes Visual Studio likes to add numbers to these function names like "Page_Load1" or "Page_PreRender2".
T is type YYYY is year MM is month DD is day N is sequencial number X is check digit
The problem is, how do I generate the sequencial number? since my primary key is not an auto increment integer value, if it was i would use that, but its not.
EDIT can I have the sequencial number resets itself after 1 day (24hours).

I just installed Visual studio 2010 ultimate RC on my windows 7 server. It doe snot show line number. So I went to Tool->Option->Editor, however, there is no where I cna find line number choice.
I used to have Visual Studio 2010 professional beta, it has the same problem, no line number to show up. However, it has a check box: line number. Even if I check the box, still no line number to show up.
How do I specify a port number for a Data Connection in the Server Explorer of Visual Studio 2008. It would use 1433 as a default but the administrators changed it for security purposes.
I have a stored procedure which is part of the aspnetdb but i am using my own database and therefore these stored procedures are added on my sql server locally. So i uploaded the databases to my hosting company 1and1 and created the stored procedures and tables as those in aspnetdb but i get the error as in the title. this is a standard stored procedure which lives in the aspnetdb database but not sure why this is happeningthe code is below which is for aspnet membership createuser a standard stored procedure
I want to use a source control in VS2010, I know my best bet is TFS, but at the moment TFS(can't afford ). As i understand TFS is the new VSS_2005(can afford)Can VSS 2005 be use as a source control for VS 2010 solutions/projects?
I just recently upgrade my asp.net web project from visual studio 2005 to visual studio 2010. The upgrade was successful with no problems however im missing some features with this project. The One Click Publish feature(which is greyed out) in the header area of Visual Studio 2010 and the Add Config Transforms feature which is no where to be seen when you right click on web.config. When i create a new web project straight from visual studio 2010, these options work fine.
Visual Studio 2010 Beta 2 locked up, and when I tried to restart it, it wouldn't load, so I did a devenv.exe /resetuserdata to get it going again. It reset everyhing in my options of the web app/ etc, and now some AJAX conrols don't work such as dragpanel. I assume that it is because something got reset that I haven't enabled again, but can't figure it out.
Im working on a website project with Visual Studio 2010 from 2 different computers (home & work). In Dreamweaver Im used to FTP to upload/download files to/from a webserver to syncronice my files on the current computer Im working on.What is best option in Visual Studio 2010 to sync project files between home & work computers? I have seen there is a built in FTP, but seems only it can upload files, limited functionality?
