DataSource Controls :: Count The Number Of Holidays Between Two Dates?

Jul 22, 2010

I want to calculate the number of HOLIDAYS between two given dates. For example, to count the number of 'Fridays' and 'Saturdays' and any other holiday (can get from another table) in between two given dates.

For example,

Start Date: 16/07/2010
End Date: 22/07/2010
Holiday: 19/07/2010

OUTPUT: 3 Holidays (Since there are only two Fridays and Saturdays and one Holiday)

do also note that it must include count if the starting day or ending day is a holiday.

DataSource Controls :: Count The Number Of Rows Returned From The Database?

Jan 17, 2010

I have executed my query in VB with:

[Code]....

I now want to count the number of returned rows so that I can say:IF rows_returned = 1 then login else deny
I think you get the idea.P.S. I know this is not the most secure method of login but I do not want to use the ASP.NET configuration manager as I like to understand what is happening. I am starting off very simple and I shall work up from there.

Right now I have it in the btn_click event, but in order to get it to count the rows you have to hit the button twice since the query is not returned yet. Here is my code.

ADO.NET :: Records Count Not Matching Between Linq And SQL Statements

Mar 17, 2011

I am facing an intresting problem now with entity framework. if i did a count of the some table with linq statement its give some count and it is not matching with my normal sql query count. my sql query returning count of all the records in that table where as linq query returns some count which is less than sql count. is this a problem with my edmx or table navigation properties..i do have some 5 to 6 child tables inside this table with foreignkey relation. will it do a join on each child table and returns only those records. I am very much confused and don't know how to slove this.

C# - How To Generate A Transaction Number

Dec 9, 2010

I was thinking of formatting it like this

TYYYYMMDDNNNNNNNNNNX
(1 character + 19 digits)

Where

T is type
YYYY is year
MM is month
DD is day
N is sequencial number
X is check digit

The problem is, how do I generate the sequencial number? since my primary key is not an auto increment integer value, if it was i would use that, but its not.

EDIT can I have the sequencial number resets itself after 1 day (24hours).

P201012080000000001X <-- first
transaction of 2010/12/08
P2010120810000000002X <--- second
transaction of 2010/12/08
P201012090000000001X <--- First
transaction of 2010/12/09
(X is the check digit)

DataSource Controls :: Using IF Statements In LINQ Insert Query?

Jun 7, 2010

I tried to find a LINQ section on this forum, but couldn't, so I'll post this here since is deals with LINQ, C#, MVC, SQL Server, and well...just about everything.

Here's the details....My Application is an ASP .Net MVC 1.0 app, using C# 3.5, SQL Server 2005 Std, and LINQ to Entity.

In my View, I have numerous Html.CheckBox controls, they get passed to my Controller as a string collection via a JQuery Ajax call. The values of each checkbox are seperated by a comma(,). I then Split the string, to get the individual values. The overall purpose to to allow users to build a custom report with only the data elements they have checked the boxes for. Here is my controller:

[Code]....

The part that I am having a problem with is that I only want to Insert the data elements into my DB table for the ones that the user has selected the checkbox for. So, for example, I'd like to do something like this:

[Code]....

I don't know if there is a LINQ switch statement in which I can access outside variables and the columns of the table, or any thing like that.

Custom Server Controls :: Composite Control - Mismatching The Result?

Nov 3, 2010

I am creating a composite control. On the selection of item in the dropdownlist, the result should be shown. But its mismatching the result. Here is the code for the control:

[Code]....

If I have a breakpoint on the selection index changed event of the dropdownlist, then on every selection it should go to the event. Problem is when I select an item which makes the "singlelineText" textbox to appear and after it I select any other item, it doesn't stop at the dropdown event instead it goes to the "CreateChildControls" method of the composite control which results in wrong data.

DataSource Controls :: Transaction Is Not Getting Rollback?

Mar 15, 2010

I have written several queries under one single transaction. When any of the query throws an error then the whole transaction should rollback. However, in some rare cases say 2% cases even after the error the next transaction is getting comitted.

note that all transaction processes (opening, committing and rollback) is done through .net.

I am using 64bit windows 2003 for data and application server. And website is configured for runapp32on64.
