I have a DetailsView control in a VS2010 project. There are 20 fields, most of which have been converted to template fields. However, when I right click the control and choose Edit Template, I only see the first 15. I cannot choose to edit any of the template fields beyond that. The fields work when I run the project, but I cannot edit them via the designer. Is this by design or is something corrupted?

I have a template field in a Details View which is a dropdown selection of values.While I can get the value of the textfields in the DetailsView by using: DetailsView1.Rows(i).Cells(1).Text.ToStringI don't know how do extract a value from a dropdownlist2 contained in the DetailsView.
View 4 RepliesI have a Details view where I want to have a multi-select value, with the choices driven from another table.I need to iterate through the check-boxes in the list, and I do that by using a DetailsView1.FindControl("MyCheckBoxList") to find the check box list.The challenge I'm having now is that if I name the CheckBoxList differently in each of the templates (Item, Edit, Insert), then they each need a separate handler to find the control and iterate through the checkboxes. I can't find a method to fire a handler

I've been struggling with trying to figure out how to do this for about 2 weeks now. I have a DetailsView with several template fields in it. The first field (Unit_Code) is a dropdownlist item where the user would select a Unit based off the Unit_Code's Unit Name. Further down I have a field named (System), system needs to get it's value from the selectedvalue or selectedindex that the user selected in the (Unit_Code) dropdownlist. I have another dropdownlist item (Component) that will need to get the selected value from System to sort on, so once I have the first Unit_Code to System figured out I should be able to figure out the System to Component part seeing as it will basically be doing the same thing.

I'm trying to add an DropDownList to a DetailsView by code, because i'm writing a solution that let's the user select an table and view your records and edit them, some of theese tables, have a foreign key column and the user must have to select some item in the list.

the code above is working correctly, when the user click in the buttons New or Edit , the DetailsView opens correctly, showing the DropDownlist, but when the user click in the buttons update or insert , an error occurs, the viewState cannot be loaded:

i tried with any other pc i got that timer control on it on trhe other hand that timer_tick is not fired in that .

Also I'm not able to open an already created MVC 2 project also. I'm also having MVC 2 installed with VS 2008 Sp1 in the same machine and is working fine. For some reason that I haven't been able to figure out, when I try to add a new item, there is no template for the ADO.NET Entity Framework. The resut is always some "Chinese character garbage", and the generated extension is always .cs (whatever the given outputextension may be)Generating text files works fine in class libraries, MVC websites and other "projects".Just not in plain websites. Is this a known issue, am I forgetting some swith or doing something wrong, can or can I not fix this?UPDATE: It seems to be a problem with the Tangible T4 Editor, after uninstalling this tool, it seems to work fine. However, I've lost syntax highlighting and intellisense then.Since this is an external tool, I don't think this forum covers that scope.

View 4 Replies i havent uninstalled Visual studio 2010 .... for some requirements i had to repair my visual studio 2010 installation... now after repairing or reinstalling (not uninstalling and then installing, i reinstalled from the visual studio installation options) the visual studio 2010 i noticed that the asp.net Mvc template has vanished ... i tried to repair/ reinstall again but somehow it doesnt come up ... the template is not reflected into the visual studio new projects menu... as a result i am not able to load any of the mvc projects either ....
is there any possible way apart from uninstalling /repairing or reinstalling the visual studio i can get back my template again ? into my visual studio.... like wise somewhat kinda manual customization or like that ?
