Nov 2, 2010I just installed Visual Studio 2010 on my Windows 7 laptop in order to start learning the Entity Framework. For some reason that I haven't been able to figure out, when I try to add a new item, there is no template for the ADO.NET Entity Framework. Why the template doesn't exist and what I need to do in order to get the template? I came across a post that stated that in order restore the template that I needed to do the following:
devenv /installvstemplates

Jun 10, 2010I've been using VS2010 to look at the new ASP.NET and specifically MVC 2. I have gone through the 0.8 release of the MvcMusicStore sample on CodeProject (good job so far).
Now, I'm working on a project to explore MVC more deeply and after creating a table in a local SQL table, I went to create an ADO.NET entity data model to work with the table data. When I get to the list of templates, the total list of templates are:
SQL Server Database Text File XML File XML Schema That's everything (meaning when C# is selected at the top of the dialog's installed templates).
I've re-installed VS2010 (gone through the control panel and the maintenance option for VS2010). There's no Linq, Data Set, Database Unit Test, nothing....
It was there before, it's not now.
UPDATE : I did find this article: [URL] I did run devenv /installvstemplates. It ran without errors, however, the error still persists.
The article said if the "solution" was not a real solution, to re-install VS2010 (Really???). So I went to do so. The ADO.NET entity object framework is installed.
Why would VS2010 "forget" something so intrinsic?

Jul 30, 2010Today in one of the computer i installed visual studio 2010 professional edition, and successfully installed. But in my new project template "Asp.net MVC 2 website" is missing. Also I'm not able to open an already created MVC 2 project also. I'm also having MVC 2 installed with VS 2008 Sp1 in the same machine and is working fine. I uninstalled and installed again, the same is happening.

Jul 29, 2010I have a Silverlight site hosted in an asp page, it has been developed using vs2010 using .net 3.5 framework and silverlight 4. It all works on my dev box. However when I publish the site and get it deployed I get the error:
Could not load file or assembly 'Moe.Tactical.Ttas.Web' or one of its dependencies. This assembly is built by a runtime newer than the currently loaded runtime and cannot be loaded.
Description: An unhandled exception occurred during the execution of the current web request. review the stack trace for more information about the error and where it originated in the code.
Exception Details: System.BadImageFormatException: Could not load file or assembly 'Moe.Tactical.Ttas.Web' or one of its dependencies. This assembly is built by a runtime newer than the currently loaded runtime and cannot be loaded.
I have checked that the ISS asp setting are using 2.0.50727, and that all my references are using that runtime also.
I am not sure what to do to work out what the missing dependencies are at this point (I don't have access to the deployment box, I will have to go and sit with a system admin).

Useful info:
Windows 7 64-bit
Visual Studio 2010 Ultimate
Firebird 2.5.0
Firebird .Net Data Provider 2.6
DDEX 2.0.5
I've done:
Installed Firebird server (and it works and I can connect to a database) Downloaded DDEX (I've run the registry files) used the gacutil on the FirebirdSql.Data.FirebirdClient.dll and checked that it indeed was installed and it was Modyfied the machine.config for both 2.0 and 4.0 in 32-bit and 64 bit folders to include the provider in the element When I try to add a connection in the server explorer I choose "Firebird Data Source" and the Firebird data provider and press continue. I the "Add Connection" dialog window I fill in the info "data source, database, user, password.." and press ok and then I get the following error:
Failed to find or load the registered .Net Framework Data Provider Also when I try to add a new Entity Data Model I cannot see the Firebird option.. I can only see SQL options. I really need help on this one as I've spent many hours on this and I cannot get it to work.. I've also read other related questions on SO,

Oct 2, 2010I am using Visual Studio 2008 Professional Edition. I googled for the same, it says u might not have selected crystal reports feature while installation of vs. I am sure that i had selected installtion type = Full/Complete.
So has it anything to do with vs service pack etc. I dont have VS 2008 SP1, but VS 2008. Or wud be better if we can add crystal report component explicitly. (kinda standalone installer for crystal reports and then it will automatically merge with VS.)

Apr 18, 2010Opening an existing asp.net 3.5 project using VWD Express 2010, the database diagram file under Database Diagrams folder went missing in Database Explorer tab. Everything is in there when I first created the diagram using VWD Express 2008. However, when I look at the .dbml file, the associated relationship between dozens of tables exist and my project runs successfully. I'm planning to create another table with relationships from existing tables but seems like I have to painfully recreate them back from scratch. How can I recover those diagrams?

Oct 23, 2010When I tried to deploy the project using DotNet 2.0 using VS2010, it failed and no error message. I make sure all the Framework checkboxes have 2.0 checked. In the prerequisies window, I only checked the installer 3.1. In the Detected Dependencies, The Microsoft .NET Framework is 2.0. The development and target PCs are both XP - SP3. When I unpack the .msi file in the target PC and run the application, it crashed.The only way to make that work is to use VS2005 to perform the setup. Of course, copying the files over to the target PC directory works. So, the VS2010 setup is unpacking something at the target that makes it crash. VS2010 fixed the code-behind fatal bugs and I cannot go back to VS2005 or VS2008. I also noticed that you need to install 3.5 before you can use 2.0 in VS2010... Anybody knows what is going on ?
