Set the executable project as the startup project."Trying to debug the code in windows applications. It throws the above error.Googled, most of them say to download the exe file. But when I've right click the Project ->add reference-> browse -> bin-> debug -> .dll downloaded, still throws the same error. Unable to locate the executable file.
View 1 RepliesI've got Visual Stuido 2008 Team Suite + Team Foundation Server + TFS Power Tools running on a Windows XP laptop. Everything uses Windows Authentication.A few weeks ago I changed my Windows password per company security policy. As soon as that happened, I started getting a problem working within TFS. I would be trying to check in or check out a file, or view the history of a file, and I would get the following error: "You are not authorized to access tfs.servername.com". Whenever I get that error, my Windows account has become locked and I need to call the helpdesk to get unlocked.
This issue happens intermittantly...I could be working fine in Visual Studio for several hours and then it'll happen. Sometimes it happens several times in a row - I'll get the account unlocked, and then the next time I try to do something in Visual Studio it locks again.I realize there are a host of ways an account can become locked - believe me, I've run them all out - I don't have any services running on my machine that are tied to my WIndows account, I wasn't logged in to another computer under my old password, I don't have any mapped drives that use my old password. I'm fairly sure there's something in VS or TFS that is causing it - I can work for days without getting into Visual Studio and I don't get the issue. I use SQL Sever 2005 Express, which also uses Windows Auth, and I have no problems. The lockouts only start when I'm doing something in VS.
When I am working on projects I like to take my files back and forth between two machines. The machine at my office is running Windows XP Pro 32-bit.My home pc is brand new and running Windows 7 64-bit.I have not yet installed Visual Studio 2008 on the new home pc.My projects usually consist of a web site in ASP.net and C# often with a SQL Server 2008 Express Edition database backend.I am using Visual Studio 2008 Standard Edition (yes, I know I need to upgrade soon).
Before I received the new computer I was simply copying what I did at one machine onto a USB drive, taking it the other machine and overwriting the files that were previously there. Is it feasible to continue moving project files back and forth between computers now that one machine is running a 32-bit OS and one is running a 64-bit OS?
can Visual Studio 2008 be All-In-One tool to integrate source code continuously from team members, build, unit test?
Having used Visual Studio Team Edition 2005, unit testing each method within VS itself. I strongly believe that it is feasible to add-on tools. Example ankhsvn tool to use SVN from Visual studio [URL]
In my investigating i have come across number of tools(shown below) to use with Visual Studio 2008 professional
Development tool:- Visual Studio 2008 professional using Subversion as source control tool. Continuous Integration:- Hudson or Cruise control Build tool:- NAnt Testing:- NUnit, Selinium As Visual Studio 2008 can be used for unit testing I think NUnit is out of consideration.
In the same way i would like to have any other tools/add-ons to Visual studio to implement continuous integration, building and unit testing. This process should be automated such a way source code between team members is continuously integrated, built and unit testing is done as configured.
Objective is to use few number of tools as add-on to Visual Studio or achieve most from Visual studio itself (example unit testing). Visual Studio should be all in one tool.
I am aware that Team Foundation Server best suits my requirement, but it is out of scope due to its cost.

View 7 RepliesI'm about to start a new module in my existing web application project (already completed 3 modules), due to more data entry and volume of data handling my PM informed me to go this module on windows application (vb.net), but i'm requesting him to go with web application since i'm much familiar in web applcation and all my completed module on web.
But he is thinking on performance part too, if i get some idea / suggestion on the same so that i can clear and i will go with either option.
The module is Service Billing with LPO Control, Billing, Proforma, eBilling, eApproval, online billing etc.

View 2 RepliesI'd like to tryout ASP.NET MVC2, im using VWD2010 on Windows 7. I can't seem to be able to get the unit test dialog to pop up. I googled it and all I find is nUnit templates for VWD2008.
Anyone running into this issue with same setup as mine?
I installed Windows 7 a few days ago and everything seemed to install fine. I opened up a rather large project I've been working on and opened up my dataset file. I created a new table in SQL Server 2005 and so in turn I created a new tableadapter. It went through the steps to create the tableadapter fine but when I tried to finish it, it took FOREVER to finally refresh. The table is small, about 6 fields with no data, and I waited 20 minutes at least for Visual Studio to finally respond again. Now I've tried to save my work and it's hung up again. I've been waiting another 20 minutes at least just for VS to save the file. Is there some known issue with datasets and Windows 7? This didn't happen in XP and I simply can't be waiting for an hour to simply add a table adapter and save the file.

Was any service packs installed?
I installed Microsoft Windows Sever Enterprise Edition (rus) SP1, downloaded (manually) and installed Windows Server 2003 SP2.Installed VSTS (Visual Studio Team System) 2008 (with MS SQL 2005 Express with it, MS Office 2003, MSSQL2008 Developer Preview), IE7.And my Windows Update does not detect/autoupdates any updates/service packs for VSTS2008 and MSSQLServers...like Windows XP, only updates for operating system Windows Server 2003, .NET, IE7, MS Office, etc.
Is it something wrong with my setup?Should Windows Server 2003 autoupdate detect and install VSTS2008 and MS SQL Servers updates, or should not?
I am trying to install vs 2008 on a 64 bit windows 7.
when it completes about 10% of the installation it gives me a list of error messages telling that setup has failed.I searched in microsoft communities and on the net,
I'm using Visual Studio 2008 SP1 on my Windows XP Workstation.I'm simply trying to create a new website from Visual Studio via the "create website" on our Windows Server 2008 with IIS 7.0When I do this from Visual Studio, I get the error,"Unable to create website, It appears the web server doesn't have FrontPage Server Extensions Installed"OK....So I downloaded FrontPage Server Extensions and Installed it on the Windows Server 2008 that has IIS 7.0 Installed, I rebooted the server and I still get the same error when I try and create a website from Visual Studio from my XP Workstation

View 1 RepliesI recently purchased a new laptop running Windows 7 Home Premium (64-bit). I installed Visual Web Developer 2008 Express using the Microsoft Web Platform Installer. When I open a .aspx file within one of my websites VWD immediately freezes. The program will not respond and I have to use the task manager to force it to shut. This happens every time.
I have already tried uninstalling and re-installing VWD but the problem still occurs. However if I open another type of file in a website, say a .css or .xml file the problem does not occur. It seems to happen only when I open a .aspx file. Has anyone else come across this?
I'm running Visual Studio 2008 on Windows 7. When I try to attach to a process, VS tells me to restart under different credentials (with elevated permissions).
So I have to restart VS and run it as Administrator. Is there a way to set it up so VS always starts with Admin privileges?
