Have anybody experienced problems in running Visual Studio 2008 in Windows 7 (64 bit)? Please post your feedbacks o0n using the Visual Studio on Windows 7(64 bit).
Was any service packs installed?
I am looking at developing using Visual Studio 2010/2008 and SQL Server 2008 on Windows 7. Should I be able to do this on Windows 7 Professional, or do you need Windows 7 Ultimate?
View 2 RepliesI'm using Visual Studio 2008 SP1 on my Windows XP Workstation.I'm simply trying to create a new website from Visual Studio via the "create website" on our Windows Server 2008 with IIS 7.0When I do this from Visual Studio, I get the error,"Unable to create website, It appears the web server doesn't have FrontPage Server Extensions Installed"OK....So I downloaded FrontPage Server Extensions and Installed it on the Windows Server 2008 that has IIS 7.0 Installed, I rebooted the server and I still get the same error when I try and create a website from Visual Studio from my XP Workstation
View 2 RepliesWhen I edit in a asp file, the intellisense does not work for any ADODB objects with vs2008(sp1) in Windows 7.For example:Set conn = Server.CreateObject("ADODB.connection")
.. And next line I keyin "conn". Then keyin ".", but it does not popup the intellisense menu for ADODB.connection.But, the native objects for asp, such as Request, Response, Session, Server.. etc., them popup the intellisense menu correctly.Or some other objects, such as "CDO.Message", them work fine !
Is there anything special to do with Windows 2008 R2 Server and Visual Studio 2010 to get Oracle quereis to work? I have the same DB Connnection.string I have used before and it works. I am at a loss here.
View 6 RepliesI recently bought a new computer, so I want to copy the projects into current system which has visual studio. I have a project developed in VWD 2008. I copied the folder into a flash drive and copied it back into the new system.
Knowing the location, how I do import the project into new system?

We are trying to install VWD 2010 on a windows 2008 server. We already have installed the 2008 version as well as SQL 2005, 2008 and 2008 R2. The Web Platform installer is not installing VWD 2010 however.At first it notified us that the OS does not allow it, after running tons of updates on the OS (some of which failed) it is still not doing it, not even donwloading it. The latest message simply asked us to post the error on the forum

I already created the project on VS2008 (windows application), now I want to make it as Installation software, whcih can bring and install at another computer;
- My project are connected to SQL Server, does it accur problem or not, when I take it to install at another PC, where have no SQL server
I have looked at all the posts I can find on this problem and tried everything I can think of, but still the problem persists. I am getting really sick of it.was working fine for the last year until an update to MS Office 2007 caused a lot of problems (automatic update). After checking posts here, I removed it completely. No change. I then tried all the things I could find on other posts, also no change. Today, I removed VS and the Web Authoring Component and re-installed. Still no go.
Does anyone have a fix for this problem. It seems that it has been around a long time, but is still giving problems. I even saw one suggestion to reformat the drive! You've got to be joking!
I started working on an Asp.net MVC website using Visual Web Developer Express 2008 a while ago. Just recently, I managed to get my hands on a copy of Visual Studio 2008 Professional (through DreamSpark ). I installed the Service Pack, and also the MVC2 files for Visual Studio.
However, now I can't open my project anymore. When I try to open the solution in Visual Studio, it tells me that the project type is not supported. Does this mean that I have to resort to using VWD Express again? Is there perhaps some way that I can edit the project file so that it will load and compile correctly?
Note: I installed MVC2 through the Web Platform Installer, and it says that it installed successfully. However, I notice that MVC references in my unit-test project don't seem to be resolved either - is this perhaps because MVC2 isn't actually installed properly?

In the folder SQL 2005 express edition there is a folder called configuration tools with has 3 applications, is this normal?
There is no other folder under SQL 2005. I tried to re-install it and the same thing happened

When I did the uninstall, am getting a wierd error message "A problem has been encountered while loading the set up components .Cancelling set up". I googled this and found some posts asking me to uninstall all the hot fixes associated with VS 2008 TS .I did that but still am getting the same message.

View 3 RepliesI'm trying to build a windows application running in Windows 7 that access the TFS work items and I'm getting an error messenge that says:
Could not load file or assembly 'Microsoft.TeamFoundation.Client, Version=9.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=b03f5f7f11d50a3a' or one of its dependencies.
I dig up a little bit to find out what is happening and I found out that the assembly must have a strong name which I'm still trying to understand how to give one to it but before that I tried to run the same code but as aweb application and it's running just fine. Running the same windows application in
windows Vista also works. Debuging the windows application in windows 7 code the error throws when a rotine that has an object been stantiated to the class TeamFoundationServer is called. This class is into the Microsoft.TeamFoundation.Client.dll which is the dll that I should give the strong name, and may be solve the problem. What I would like to know is if it already have happened with you to some reference doesn't work to a specifc kind of application and if giving a strong name solved your problem or from your experience what might be occurring?

I'm about to start a new module in my existing web application project (already completed 3 modules), due to more data entry and volume of data handling my PM informed me to go this module on windows application (vb.net), but i'm requesting him to go with web application since i'm much familiar in web applcation and all my completed module on web.
But he is thinking on performance part too, if i get some idea / suggestion on the same so that i can clear and i will go with either option.
The module is Service Billing with LPO Control, Billing, Proforma, eBilling, eApproval, online billing etc.
I am having a problem with my Visual Studio 2008 debugger on Windows 7. When I press F5, my Visual Studio web server freezes, and the Visual Studio status changes to "Not Responding".
