Visual Studio :: Getting Error Cannot Find File For Assembly System.data.sql.sstring
Apr 8, 2010
I recently installed developer express and sql server 2008 express. I am trying to connect to the sql database but get this error. When I try to add a reference to system.data.sql, it doesn't exist. Did install sql server 2008 service pack 1 wrong or visual studio express service pack 1 wrong?
I'm getting ' Could not load file or assembly 'System.Web.Extensions, Version=1.0.61025.0, Culture=neutral,PublicKeyToken=31bf3856ad364e35' or one of its dependencies. The system cannot find the file specified.' when dragging AJAX Extention to any page.I've been uninstalling and reinstalling VS2005 whole day. Meanwhile there are no AJAX Control Toolkit in Toolbox and AJAX enabled templetes are missing.
I have created an application which runs fine in VS2010.Now i am trying to host that application using inetmgr. When i try to browse the page from inetmgr content view then i get the "Parser Error Message: Could not load file or assembly 'System.Web, Version=4.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=b03f5f7f11d50a3a' or one of its dependencies. The system cannot find the file specified".If i browse the page from VS i am able to do it.I am not able to host the app. may be the reason is the above stated error.

I created an asp.net application, and it worked on my local PC. I was using Visual Web Developer 2010 beta.
Then I uploaded almost every file (not the sln and suo files) to my shared-host unix website. This Unix website is supposed to support asp.net.
But I got this error:
Server error in application. Could not load file or assembly 'dave' or one of its dependencies. This assembly is built by a runtime newer than the currently loaded runtime and cannot be loaded Does this mean my version of the net.framework is too advanced? Or maybe the version of Visual Web Developer? Or some other reason?
I published my site with Visual Studio on Windows web Server 2008 R2......but I have this error:
Could not load file or assembly 'App_Web_xxxxxxxx, Version=0.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=null' or one of its dependencies. The system cannot find the file specified.I tried to delete in the temporary ASP.NET files the hash files but nothing, the error is the same!I installed the framework 3.5 and Visual Studio for try the compilation and with the temporary server of VS it run but with the iis (7) not!
I am getting this message on my Page element. However my project references C:Program FilesMicrosoft ASP.NETASP.NET MVC 2AssembliesSystem.Web.Mvc.dllwhich is Version 2.0.0.0Furthermore my Web.config contains
i was wondering if visual studio 2010 can be used as an assembly editor too????if yes where do i have to go to create a first blank page for an assembly project?
From Windows Server 2003 Std Ed SP, 32 bit VMWare Virtual Server
.Net Framework v1.1.4322
When attempting to run a hello world aspx page it fails to load returning the message "Server Application Unavailable". The application even viewer logged the following:
Event Type: Error Event Source: ASP.NET 1.1.4322.0 Event Category: None Event ID: 1088 Description: Failed to execute request because the App-Domain could not be created. Error: 0x80070002 The system cannot find the file specified.
I tried to run aspnet_regiis.exe -i, rebooted but this did not work.
I tried to uninstall, reboot, reinstall .net from the Windows component section of Add/Remove Programs.
I've been using a particular version of a PDF library (PdfSharp), with the dll file in the bin directory (bin/PdfSharp.dll). I use this to prepare, combine, split, and otherwise manipulate PDF files, both those that come from outside my app and those I generate using ReportViewer.
Today I saw there was a new version of the library and naively dropped the new .dll into the bin folder, replacing the old one (I rarely have need to mess with the 2 or 3 dlls in my bin folder and it's been 2 years since I set them up so I wasn't really sure how to proceed and didn't take the time to think too much about it). The PDF generation no longer worked, so I deleted the newer .dll and replaced it with the older one (I have copies in backups, the production server, etc).
Now, although I've confirmed that the dll in the bin folder is the older version (file Properties show correct older version number, file size is older file size, etc), and although the application works correctly, including those parts that call on the library, I can no longer access the data sources for my RDLC files -- when I open an RDLC file in the editor and choose Report->Data Sources, I get this error:
Could not load file or assembly 'PdfSharp, Version=1.2.1269.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=f94615aa0424f9eb' or one of its dependencies. The system cannot find the file specified.
I am mystified: I don't understand the connection between a report's data source and this library; I know that the correct version (1.2.1269.0) is in binPdfSharp.dll; and I can find no references to any version of PdfSharp in any file in my application, other than the code that actually calls it (ie, there are no references to it in web.config or the .rdlc files or the dataset .xsd files). I've also been through the registry and find no references to the new version. I've tried deleting the dll and re-adding it using "Add Reference...", and I've tried "Update Reference", all to no avail.
My web site used ASP.NET 3.5 SP1, MVC 2, and EF. Last night I tried to upgrade to ASP.NET 4 (& EF4) under VS2010.
If my views are compiled (MvcBuildViews property is true), then the build fails with this error message: Error 5 Could not load type 'System.Data.Entity.Design.AspNet.EntityDesignerBuildProvider'. C:WindowsMicrosoft.NETFrameworkv4.0.30319Configweb.config 129
It's actually complaining about my system web.config file.
If MvcBuildViews is false, then it will run (and compile the views normally just fine).
OS: Server 2008 R2, all updates applied at time of writing.
I am looking to add a browse button to a visual studio app something simular to the the dialog box in the 'fileupload' tool. I am looking to be able to graphically select any file from my computer or a computer across a network.
i have installed ajaxtoolkit 3.5 but when i debug i am getting this error Could not load type 'System.Web.UI.ScriptReferenceBase' from assembly 'System.Web.Extensions, Version=3.5.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=31bf3856ad364e35' even i have changed my tags to
System.NullReferenceException: Object reference not set to an instance of an object at ASP.document_down_upload_aspx.__Render__bctrl_23 (System.Web.UI.HtmlTextWriter __output, System.Web.UI.Control parameterContainer) [0x0008a] in /home/rajiv/Documents/8erp_final (2)/erp/Document_Down_Upload.aspx:24
I am developping the ERP Web Application. My solution structure is as given below. Main Web Application - Having reference to All Module Web Application. Common Web Application - Has Master Page, User Control, Login page, Defualt Error and etc Module Web Application - Having Module wise Aspx and code behind. It refer Common Web Application to reduce redundacy. In this Context we are facing the following problem.
1) while running web application in the debug mode it gives error as 'the target assembly contains no service types. You may need to adjust the Code Access Security policy of this assembly'
2) Could not Debug both Module and Common Web Application.
3) In Design Time both Master or user control not renders in refered Aspx Page.
4) While I debug in visual studio 2010, it gets restart after some time.
I've researched the System.Security.SecurityException: Request for the permission of type 'System.Data.SqlClient.SqlClientPermission, System.Data, Version=2.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=b77a5c561934e089' failed. error.
So far all the suggestions indicate either a custom assembly that needs a permission change (I don't have any custom assemblies) or requires a setting change on the server (I'm not the admin). This is for a ReportViewer app using RDLC files. So my questions are: Are there any other things to try troubleshooting?
I'm a complete newb at attempting to understand (I don't) what I've read on this subject regarding the server admin part. What do I need to tell the server admin to check out and/or change? I've looked at the commonly referenced post on wss_mediumtrust.config (I have no idea what that is). Post link. But with no clue on what the post is talking about I don't know what to ask the admin for.
I am developing a web application in which I am suddenly facing an issue. I have a webpage which contains many controls, one of the control is JQuery color picker. Now, I am upgrading my system with telerik controls. As part of this process, I replaced textbox(txtcolor) with radcolorpicker with a different id(colorPicker). Suddenly, my code behind file is not throwing any errors like 'unable to find txtColor'. It is running successfully without build errors. But, when I open the page, system is throwing runtime exception(txtColor not found) which is correct.
I tried to change other controls with asp.net controls, still the problem persists. So, I dont think it is anything to do with telerik.
I have a website on visual studio 2008 on my local machine. When I run through the debugger I get the following error, however when I browse the same website through the IIS manager (running IIS7.5), I can browse it. What do I need to fix to run it through debugger? The website is set as an application.

I tried to install Visual Studio Prof 2010 trail version in my system, but i got an error saying 'Please remove/uninstall Visual Studio 2010 load test controller' to proceed installation. i uninstalled my previous VS2008 software from system and i could not find anything like 'Remove/Uninstall Visual Studio 2010 load test controller' software in my Add/Remove Programs.
I have a little asp.net, c# web app created in visual studio. It runs fine on my local machine out of IIS and, of course, it runs fine on the server provided with visual studio.
I copied the files over to a couple of hosting servers I use and it wouldn't run on either of them: the web page could not be seen at all.
Eventually one the hosting providers has come back with an answer and this is it:
ASP.net was not activated for your account, so that's why nothing asp.net would run. We've activated it now but there are still some configuration issues with your /home/www/brassrazoo.org/visstudwebapp/Web.config - line 38: The section <authentication> can't be defined in this configuration file (the allowed definition context is 'MachineToApplication').
Apparently they've now 'activated asp for my account' but it has made no difference whatever to what happens. I just get an error:
I need to make a windows application and the requirements is like this: Data is to be entered through one form and those values are to be displayed in a form in different computer.should i use in order to get this done. My main concern is to efficiently transfer the data.
I have added an assembly into GAC in VS 2005, and VS 2008 as well.
Today I have tried the same approach, but I am not getting.
I am not understanding what is the problem, but I am ending up with the following two warnings!
Warning 1 Option 'keyfile' overrides attribute 'System.Reflection.AssemblyKeyFileAttribute' given in a source file or added moduleWarning 2 Use command line option '/keyfile' or appropriate project settings instead of 'AssemblyKeyFile'
