View 8 RepliesI am having an issue in VS 2010 trying to get even the default ASP.NET Web Application to run in Debug mode. I get the error:
"Unable to start program 'http://localhost:1443/Default.aspx'.
The system cannot find the file specified."
I am stumped here and cannot find anything out there with this error.
Is there any opportunity to change it in Visual Studio - not in IIS?
View 2 RepliesUsing Visual Web Developer 2010 Express. I was used to creating a web app anytime and I would get a default page for starters and be happy. But today I find that when I pick either the ASP.NET Web Site or ASP.NET Web Application templates I get site.master and a bunch of site admin files that I don't want. Alternately when I select the empty versions of those templates, I get almost nothing at all. An almost empty web.config page and no Default.aspx page. There is nothing magical about having a default.aspx page in place, but it is an indicator of a change when I can only get a virtually completely empty website or a website with a bunch of bells and whistles I don't want.
Also, for some reason, when I create a new app or website as just noted, in the Solution Explorer I get aspx.designer.cs files showing as well as web.config files for both debug and release. Somehow some settings and templates must have changed, or am I missing something here? How can I get my settings/templates to go back to the way they were?
I'm using VS2010 and I'm trying to follow along with these videos:
[URL] and the guy in the video is using Visual Web Developer Express and when he creates a new website it's all nice and simple with a bare bones Default webpage and that's cool. Well, me in my Visual Studio 2010 when I create a new project I get this elaborate "My ASP.NET Application" page with an About page and a Login page and CSS and Jquery and it's just too, too much. Now, of course I could just create an empty ASP.NET application, but that goes too far the other way; I have to start from scratch and add the default page myself and try to reproduce exactly what the code in the video looks like and I can't really see the screen that well. Is there any way I could change my default template to what the gentleman in the video uses?
How can I ensure that web application converted from 2003 visual studio to 2008 visual studio
to have two files as it is when create a web file in visual studio 2008.The web application is in Chsarp. I have converted these filesfrom 2003 to 2008 but they still have three files each.
I have Firefox set as my default browser, but I want to debug the ASP.NET Web Application with IE. Searching SO only shows replies to "Browse with ..." However, this doesn't start the debugger. How would I do this? I remember in an old Visual Studio setting the browser to start with the debugger, but I don't remember how - and where it is in VS 2008.
View 1 RepliesI'm trying to publish my ASP.NET web application in Visual Studio 2010. I'm then trying to install it as a website on a server using IIS. I've gotten my application to publish (to a .zip file) but it points to the physical directory on my hard drive. This obviously will not work on the server.

View 3 RepliesI'm learning web design at the moment (by myself) and using Visual Web Developer Express, and I don't know if this is my fault or not but the preview in the split mode does not match the preview in the browsers (Firefox, Chrome and IE). I'm hoping that an experienced designer/developer would be able to confirm for me that as long as it's displaying correctly in the browsers, all will be ok. If not, how am I to fix this?

View 3 RepliesI have made my 1st asp.net web app in vs2010. I run the app and Firefox opens, showing the page. When I close Firefox, the app continues to be (Running) inside VS2010. I think the app should stop running when I close the browser. Is this right? If so, how can I make VS2010 get out of run mode and back to design mode by itself?
