Visual Studio :: View In Browser Goes To Different Ports?

Jun 29, 2010

I have a solution CPortal created in Visual Studio 2010. It has two Projects (CPporal and Login). If I right click the Login project folder and select 'View in Browser' It opens in IE as http://localhost:4558/Login/. If I rightclick the CPortal folder and select 'View in Browser it opens as http://localhost:1807/CPortal/. Please note the change in port number.

I am facing problem because, after I get myself authorized on the Login, it is is supposed to redirect me to CPortal, which it does, but uses the same port number that Login opened with. i.e. It redirects me to http://localhost:4558/CPortal/ and gives 404 file not found error. How do I make Visual Studio 2010 to use the same port number for both (all) projects so that this problem does not occur.

I searched online for solution. Only one solution was found at [URL]. But when I followed its steps, I found in my hosts file, it is already like this: 127.0.0.1 localhost

I cannot continue to work without testing finished form pages.

View .aspx Page In Separate Design And Source Tabs In Visual Studio?

Jan 31, 2010

We have three options to view any .aspx page in a tab

Design
Source
Split

How can we view Design and Source in separate tabs for a any aspx page ?

Or if this is impossible!! can we use split option by Vertically splitting the Design and Source ? if later one is possible, I could stretch the view onto two monitors like here as suggested by Nick Craver.

Visual Studio :: Saving Aspx File In Source View Mode Takes Too Long?

Jun 30, 2010

saving my aspx file takes too long, it has some nested tables, but it is nothing huge, it has like 50+ overall controls on the form. When I hit the save button, it takes a few minutes and drives cpu crazy, so I am guessing it is doing something in the background.

So, what is the reason, any clues how to speed this up?

I am using Vs.Net 2010 Ultimate

Visual Studio :: Web Site / Web Application Templates Seem Changed - Default.aspx Only With Site.master

Oct 21, 2010

Using Visual Web Developer 2010 Express. I was used to creating a web app anytime and I would get a default page for starters and be happy. But today I find that when I pick either the ASP.NET Web Site or ASP.NET Web Application templates I get site.master and a bunch of site admin files that I don't want. Alternately when I select the empty versions of those templates, I get almost nothing at all. An almost empty web.config page and no Default.aspx page. There is nothing magical about having a default.aspx page in place, but it is an indicator of a change when I can only get a virtually completely empty website or a website with a bunch of bells and whistles I don't want.

Also, for some reason, when I create a new app or website as just noted, in the Solution Explorer I get aspx.designer.cs files showing as well as web.config files for both debug and release. Somehow some settings and templates must have changed, or am I missing something here? How can I get my settings/templates to go back to the way they were?

Visual Studio :: Selecting "View Designer" Default To Source Mode?

Mar 1, 2010

This is in VS 2008. If I right-click in my code-behind page, I get a very useful "View Designer" option, which is great because it saves having to find the .aspx page in the row of document tabs:Problem is, it always opens in Design Mode, not Source Mode, even though in my options, under HTML Designer, I have "Start pages in" set to "Source View" (though I know that usually applies to double-clicking the file in the project explorer):So is there a way of getting the context menu "View Designer" to always open in Source View?Second question: Is there an option/plug-in/hack to change the way VS manages tabs? Specifically, my gripe is it opens2 tabs for the same page (one for aspx and one for aspx.cs), adding to the mess of tabs, which is crazy. Instead of, say, using the buttons at the bottom... is this possible (a mockup):That would be handy. But View Design context menu opening in Source view would be better, if possible.

Security :: Only Allow Logged In Users To View Default.aspx, And About.aspx?

Nov 28, 2010

First of all, thank you for the attention.

I am having some trouble, I am very new to asp.net, and the last problem I had, I spent about 59 hours trying to solve, Now I have a new one !

:D well, I guess this is part of the learning process...

Well, in Visual Studio 2010, I clicked New Website. @ C# language, ... The template it gives is pretty nice, it creates a database MDF file, and a login/register setup ready to go !...

You guys can see it live AT CLICK HERE ...

Everything is working, well at least here at the local machine...

There are 2 pages in there, Default.aspX, and About.aspx ... I want to allow ONLY logged in users to view those 2 pages... I tryed a few things, added my account to a role called ADMIN,

In the web.cong I changed Allow"*" to allow"ADMIN" ... still didn't work.. Also, I was trying to avoid using roles for now, and I was trying to find a way to do this for individual pages in the same directory as well... If possible with out touching the web.config file...

Visual Studio :: When Open An Aspx Page In Design View The Layout Is "scrunched" Up?

Jul 2, 2010

We have two installs of VS 2008. One on a machine that previously had 2005 installed and one on a new [clean] machine with no previous Visual Studio install. The clean machine install went fine, however when we open an aspx page in design view the layout is "scrunched" up. In source view the text matches the text in source view [of a copy of the same aspx page].In design view on the 2005/2008 VS installed machine, the layout is fine.Layout on the page is done in a "Table", with various text boxes, buttons, gridviews.

And just to reiterate, the aspx file in design view [using VS 2008 SP1] on the machine that has VS 2005/2008 installedlooks fine, no problem. The same page loaded in design view on the clean machine with VS 2008 SP1 installed is "scrunched" up.For example the gridview that should be at the top right of the page is in left-center of the page and the gridview that should be at the bottom-center of the page is also at the left-center, directly on top of the gridview that should be at the top right sideof the page.Have compared the config of VS 2008 on both machines and can't find a problem!

Create A Brand New Default.aspx / Changes Doesnt Reflect Changes In The Browser?

Apr 27, 2010

when i started a brand new asp web site in "Microsoft Visual Web Developer 2010 Express".. i get the main page called "Default.aspx" which has the following code...

So if i Ctrl+f5, and load it into a browser, everything is perfect, if i change it, (From "Welcome to ASP.NET" -> "Yaahhooo ASP.NET" and then Run it again (Ctrl+F5) then it compiles just fine and still shows the original page, yes i've considered browser cache and opened it up in a new browser (first time ff then ie) but still, once i compile it the first time, i can't change it unless i create a brand new Default.aspx

Sorry for the long explanation, i have no idea what im doing, looks like im getting off on the wrong foot.

EDIT!!-> if i make a change and save it and doesnt reflect changes in the browser, if i just quit MVWD 2010, and open it back up then it will reflect the changes right away..

Visual Studio :: Adding A Server Control On Aspx Page Does Not Add Events In Aspx.designer.vb File?

Oct 5, 2010

I work in VS 2008. Whenver I add a server control(Label) and set it properties in aspx.vb and build the solution, I get the error "Label1 not declared". While analyzing this issue I noticed that the event handler statements for the Label1 where not added in the designer.asp.vb file. These statement would actually be added automatically when I drag and drop a control to my webpage.

I would also like to inform the scenario after which this problem came to me. I was working in VS 2008 , VS 2005 and VS 2003 in the same machine.Could this have caused the issue ?

Now each and everytime when I add a control, I am adding the "With Events" code in the designer page to make my build succesfull which makes me to spend more efforts.
