the only database which appear are the ones which are in the system databases folder "in sql server manage...."
why doesnot vs08 pick up the db which has been created in databases folder using "sql serv man...."
After I installed Visual Studio 2008 Standard edition, then I upgrade "SQL Server Express 2005" to "SQL Server Express 2008 SP2". Process upgrading SQL Server Express 2008 was going succesfully (none of the process was fail).
But when I create a New Website I could not add a new item "SQL Server Database" into my website file. Because Visual Studio always rejected any new "SQL Server Database" by giving message below (underline):
This server version is not supported. Only servers up to Microsoft SQL Server 2005 are supported.
I recently purchased a new computer running Windows 7 Home, and after installing Visual Studio 2005 and SQL Server 2005 Express, I am unable to connect to the database using the "Connect To Database" wizard. I get the following error:
"This server version is not supported. You must have Microsoft SQL Server 2005 Beta 2 or later."
The version of SQL Server 2005 Express I've downloaded is directly from the Microsoft site and I also downloaded the SP3 to be used with Windows 7, x64 (which I presumed was a later version of the database). I am able to connect to the database programatically, but I would like to get the wizard functionality working as well (as I am unable to add a database to my projects, using the "Add New Item" wizard either).
I've used the WebPI to install SQL Server Express 2008 and VWD2008 SP1. I made sure to install SQL Server first then install VWD. Whenever i use VWD now though and try to add a new SQL Server Database to my website i get the error message "Connections to SQL Server Files (*.mdf) require SQL Server Express 2005 to function properly."
I'm a little stuck as to where to proceed with this error. I've un-installed everything web development related and re-installed and still get the same error. I was under the impression that VWD2008 SP1 required SQL Server Express 2008 and wouldn't work with SQL Server Express 2005 so can't understand why it now wants it to be installed.
I have installed VS Team System 2008 from a dvd on my computer,the setup has installed every thing but failled the installation of SQL Server 2005 Express Edition.The setup terminates my this error"An error has occured during the installation,Could not install SQL Server 2005 Express Edition".
Then I have tried to install sql server 2005 through SQLEXPR.exe. But this .exe file has failed the installation of SQL Server Database Services and MSXML6.
Do anybody have any idea why sql server 2005 is not installing on my machine?
P.S I haven't installed any other version of VS except this VS 2008.
Im having a strange problem which i never experienced before, the problem is my visual web developer 2005 express edition is not getting attached to the debugger, i mean when im running my web application it is not debugging the program if im putting any breakpoint, more over i uninstall and again installed visual web developer it worked fine for first time but again it is not working. i only difference is i have Internet explorer 8.I dont exactly know the problem. does any one faced similar problem
View 1 Repliesher laptop has been reformated to windows xp and she install a fresh cope of VWDE 2005 express editionwhen she tried to run her project the problem occured.after clicking the button 'start debugging' it does run the form and opened open IE explorer.but right after it open the IE, the IE suddenly close.and that is what happen every time she tried to start debuging or run the program.i also cant figure out what is the problem with its VWDE 2005 express edition or in her laptop.

using SQL Server Management Studio Express 2005. Saved it by name SQLQuery1.sql on the desktop. Now I would like to call this query from C# code when an ASP.NET button is clicked and display the results in a gridview. How do I call the query? Can I tell Visual Studio 2008 to please execute the query stored in 'sqlquery1.sql' ? Where do I store the results so that I can bind them the display controls like a gridview, or traverse the data? I just recently upgrade my asp.net web project from visual studio 2005 to visual studio 2010. The upgrade was successful with no problems however im missing some features with this project. The One Click Publish feature(which is greyed out) in the header area of Visual Studio 2010 and the Add Config Transforms feature which is no where to be seen when you right click on web.config. When i create a new web project straight from visual studio 2010, these options work fine.

I assume I have to download this module. But the only things I see when I search is the entire SQL Server 2005 Express. I do not want to do this and wipeout my present databases. I m using SQL Server 2005 Express edition.The error when i am trying to connect sql server with windows authentication is

I have an ASP.NET 3.5 app with a SQL 2005 Express .mdf database file in its App_Data folder. Lets call that Foo.mdf. On its own the ASP.NET app can connect to the database with no problems. So far so good. Then, if I install Sql Server Management Studio Express on the server and start it, it finds the local SQLEXPRESS instance and connects to it, but doesn't show Foo.mdf in the list of databases.
So I try and Attach Foo.mdf by right-clicking on databases and selecting Attach.. and finding the .MDF. This fails with a vague error:
CREATE FILE encountered operating system error 32(error not found)
while attempting to open or create the physical file
'C:inetpubwwwrootFooAppApp_DataFoo.mdf'. (Microsoft SQL Server, Error: 5123)
If I stop my ASP.NET site in IIS, then the attach does work, but then when I restart my ASP.NET app, it can't connect to Foo.mdf. So it looks like SQL Express 2005 will only let either my app or Management Studio connect. This seems really crap - surely Sql Express should allow more than one connection? I was expecting it to behave like regular Sql Server.
