WCF / ASMX :: The Formatter Threw An Exception While Trying To Deserialize The Message
Sep 9, 2010
I have
[ServiceContract]
public interface IBusiness
{
[OperationContract][code]....
Add client: [Code]....
But......... the result
Error:The server encountered an error processing the request. The exception message is 'The formatter threw an exception while trying to deserialize the message: Error in deserializing body of request message for operation 'UpdateLanguage'. The token '"' was expected
but found '''.'. See server logs for more details. The exception stack trace is:
at System.ServiceModel.Dispatcher.OperationFormatter.DeserializeRequest(Message message, Object[] parameters) at System.ServiceModel.Dispatcher.DemultiplexingDispatchMessageFormatter.DeserializeRequest(Message message, Object[] parameters) at System.ServiceModel.Dispatcher.UriTemplateDispatchFormatter.DeserializeRequest
I have a web service which tries to connect to the SQL server.It uses Integrated security = true.I get the Conn.ServerVersion threw an exception of type System.InvalidOperationException as soon as the connection object is instatiated.
I have simple 3 tier web application and have mostly CRUDE functionalities. Recently I required to add new console application to the existing solution in which I call data layer methods for retrieving data from DB but I get an exception "The type initializer for threw an exception."When I debugged I found that the exception is thrown at datalayer on first line of class where I get connectionstring from
web.config, the code is public static readonly string CONNECT_STRING =
Now if I hardcode the connection string value like public static readonly string CONNECT_STRING = "Data Source=XYZ;uid=sa;password=XXX;initial catalog=ABC;"
it works fine.I don't understand what is the issue here as web application works fine with this datalayer.
I' m using a web custom control to upload images and mark them as primary. all the flow is working fine but it fails to mark images as primary in a diffrent category(there are four categories in which we can load a image-,catalog,primary,misc).It works in - category but not in others when I debug it is failing at a condition in grey . If it is not an element of the Datalist item it would not even enter the loop. I' m lost and unable to find the reason.
All of a sudden I started getting this nasty exception all over the place:
The type initializer for 'System.Drawing.ToolboxBitmapAttribute' threw an exception.
Some relevant observations: * The error started occuring a few hours after the last deployment to the live server, not immediately after. So it basically started occuring of its own accord.
* We have recently moved to a new host (a VPS). The error only occurs on that server, not our local server nor at the old host's (which was a shared environment).
* The problem is basically the same as this: [URL]
* I tried reinstalling Ajax extensions, then our website in IIS, then finally the .Net 2 framework. But the error still occurs after all this.
* The error occurs on line 1, which is just the page directive: <%@ Page Language="C#" AutoEventWireup="true" CodeBehind="WebForm1.aspx.cs" Inherits="Test.WebForm1" %>
I'm finding it difficult to get a decent trace, but here is one that our CMS provided:
The type initializer for 'System.Drawing.ToolboxBitmapAttribute' threw an exception. at System.Web.UI.TemplateParser.ProcessException(Exception ex) at System.Web.UI.TemplateParser.ParseStringInternal(String text, Encoding fileEncoding) at System.Web.UI.TemplateParser.ParseString(String text, VirtualPath virtualPath, Encoding fileEncoding) at System.Web.UI.TemplateParser.ParseFile(String physicalPath, VirtualPath virtualPath) at System.Web.UI.TemplateParser.ParseInternal() at System.Web.UI.TemplateParser.Parse() at System.Web.Compilation.BaseTemplateBuildProvider.get_CodeCompilerType() at System.Web.Compilation.BuildProvider.GetCompilerTypeFromBuildProvider(BuildProvider buildProvider) at System.Web.Compilation.BuildProvidersCompiler.ProcessBuildProviders() at System.Web.Compilation.BuildProvidersCompiler.PerformBuild() at System.Web.Compilation.BuildManager.CompileWebFile(VirtualPath virtualPath) at System.Web.Compilation.BuildManager.GetVPathBuildResultInternal(VirtualPath virtualPath, Boolean noBuild, Boolean allowCrossApp, Boolean allowBuildInPrecompile) at System.Web.Compilation.BuildManager.GetVPathBuildResultWithNoAssert(HttpContext context, VirtualPath virtualPath, Boolean noBuild, Boolean allowCrossApp, Boolean allowBuildInPrecompile) at System.Web.UI.TemplateControl.LoadControl(VirtualPath virtualPath) at System.Web.UI.TemplateControl.LoadControl(String virtualPath) at umbraco.macro.loadUserControl(String fileName, Hashtable attributes, page umbPage)
My own code doesn't use the ToolboxBitmapAttribute, but third party products like Peter Blum's and Telerik's do.
Peter Blum replied with some useful hints:
* The "type initializer" concept probably needs some research, but I'm guessing that is an important clue. A quick web search of "type initializer" finds many situations it occurs for a variety of classes.
* The stack trace suggests that this is happening as ASP.NET is compiling your web form. The error is happening as the ASP.NET parser runs. Again this is external from my code (even creating or "type initializing" the attribute is not something my code does).
i hve CRRedist2005_x86 installed in my ststem but still it give the below error
{"The type initializer for 'CrystalDecisions.CrystalReports.Engine.ReportDocument' threw an exception."} {"An error has occurred while attempting to load the Crystal Reports runtime.
Either the Crystal Reports registry key permissions are insufficient or the Crystal Reports runtime is not installed correctly.
how can we create our own exception message ? for example i want to disply the message "Database Is not Connected" on the intrupption of database connectivity.
I have an asp.net application with separate classes for business logic and database interaction and then of course the UI. I am building a form to add a widget to a widget list table in the database. My UI collects the information and submits it to the business class. I'm going to write the business class to first double check that the widget has a name (I know I should do this in UI with validation, and I will, but this is just in case validation is forgotten) and if it does, go ahead and send the information to the database class. The database class will then attempt to write the info to the correct table using a try catch finally block. Any errors caught here are logged and then rethrown so I can inform the user. So, knowing that my database class may rethrow an error, my business class code will also be written in a try catch finally block.
So at this point I have a number of possible outcomes that I want to inform the user via the UI:
1) Everything was fine and the widget was added.
2) Something happened with the database write and the user should try again later.
3) The user forgot to name the widget.
My question is: should I write my UI in a try catch block and then throw a custom Exception with an Exception.Message in the business layer if anything goes wrong, or just have my business logic return a string that is the message? I'll want to know if the process was successful or not, because I'll want to format the actual message differently, so I'd have to use if...elseif to determine if the message was bad or not.
It seems like throwing a custom Exception in the business layer may be a good way to tell the UI something bad happened. If the UI doesn't catch anything then of course the operation was successful. Then again throwing an exception for missing data seems a bit hefty.
I'm teaching myself ASP.NET MVC, and am trying to figure out where best to put a function which takes in an Models.Address instance and returns an IHtmlString instance which reads something like:
Line 1<br /> Line 2<br /> City, State
The string could be used in many places throughout my project, so I don't want to write it in one view and have to keep copy-pasting it or attaching that view: By the same logic attaching it to ViewData seems like a bad idea. However, the HtmlEncode method requires an instance of server, which means I can't add the function to the model class either.
Is there a right place to put this - some sort of shared view? (does this belong in the master?) Or am I going about this all wrong?
My current best idea is to create a ViewModel with the method public IHtmlString FormatAddress(Address address, HttpServerUtility server), but I don't know if that's the ASP.NET MVC way to do it.
I catch an exception, how can I use the exception message in another page? How can I pass this exception message into a label on another page? In order so I can have the exception message displayed with my own material. Catch ex As Exception ex.Message 'pass this message of the exception so it can be used in a different page.
Here's my problem I have some code and I'm using it to send an e-mail with the last error details but all I want is the (Inner)Exception Message to be displayed in the email with the URL
I'm writing messages to a Message Queue in C# as follows:
ObjectMsg objMsg = new ObjMsg(1,"ascii",20090807); Message m = new Message(); m.Formatter = new BinaryMessageFormatter(); m.body = objMsg; queue.Send(m);
and I'm trying to read the messages as follows:
Message m = new Message() m.Formatter = new BinaryMessageFormatter(); MessageQueue mq = new MessageQueue("./pqueue"); m = mq.Recieve(); ObjMsg msg = (ObjMsg )m.Body;
However I'm getting an error message which says: "Cannot find a formatter capable of reading this message."
I have a page here with a few list views on it that are all bound to Linq data sources and they seem to be working just fine.I want to add validation such that when a checkbox (IsVoid on the object) is checked, comments must be entered (VoidedComments on the object).
Here's the bound object's OnValidate method:
partial void OnValidate(ChangeAction action) { if (action == ChangeAction.Update) [code]....
Despite there being a dynamic validator on the page referencing the same ValidationGroup as the dynamic control, when the exception fires, it's caught in JavaScript and the debugger wants to break in. The message is never delivered to the UI as expected.
I am trying to passing Exception info tpa custom error page that I have created, and I'm looking for the best way to do so.I ended up creating a session object on my Global.asax page, and I pass the error data to the session object during the Application_Error event, but it throws it's own exception prior to working.
[Code]....
I have also updated my web.config with my error page that I would like to pass session object data to:
I am going to be receiving data in a web service. After I receive this data I will be mapping it to a data transfer object. I want to be able to catch exceptions if the data from the service is missing any of the required values, times out or any data is malformed.
What can I do to generally catch these exceptions?
Using vb.net/asp.net 2005 and SQL Server 2005:I have a unique constraint setup to prevent users from entering duplicate email addresses in my online system.When a user tries to edit an existing email to one that already exists (add a duplicate) it shows the following<ERROR>Cannot insert duplicate key row in ojbect "dbo.someTableName" with unique index.....The statement has been terminated This prevents the user from adding duplicates which is good but I would like to provide a more user friendly exception message and I do not want to show the table and field names to the user.
I have an Asp.net web service that I created using Visual Studio 2005. I can acess the web service in my test environment, call methods and return data as expected. If this web service is published to the outside world (Outside of the company firewall), it will return a null why this might be happening? The same code is being used,against the same database. The only difference is that the published website is giving back the null reference exception. If I type in the URL for the web service "https://secure.theSiteGeist.com/wsIndigo.asmx" a list of methods for the web service is displayed in my browser. Yet if I try and call any methods on the web service I get back the null reference exception. Note that the URL I posted above is not the real name of my web service, but is just used for reference sake.
I am getting this exception whenever i tried to delete the WCF Service reference in project.I cannot even update it.Our WCF Service is bit huge and looks like this is causing the issue.I Start/Stopped IIS web server but still i cant get rid of it.
I have been able to import an excel file sql bulkcopy locally. But when I publish the code to the server I get the following error messages:
Exception Message: 'C:MyTest.xls' is not a valid path. Make sure that the path name is spelled correctly and that you are connected to the server on which the file resides.
