WCF / ASMX :: Access Database Using Asp.net And Flash?
Nov 10, 2010
I need to update a online class that is using Asp.net as it's base. I have to use flash because the test will use video as the teaching tool. I want to be able to communicate with a database to update scores through choices made in the flash programmed test. I am woundering if there is a easy way to do or not. I am a begginer in asp, but well versed in flash.
I created a Class library for WCS service (MyWCFServiceLibrary) to access data form my database. The database connection strings have been defined in Properties->Settings.settings. The endpoints are defined in the app.config. Tracing and logging is set to write to files on local server. This service is hosted by a .net web service. This webservice refrences the WCF service using MyWCFServiceLibrary.dll and MyWCFServiceLibrary.pdb. The web service is hosted in IIS. All this setup is working fine on the development environment. Now I want to deploy this in the QA environment. Since I am a newbie with WCF, I would appreciate some help on what needs to be done for deploying this on the QA server.1. Do I need to recompile the MyWCFServiceLibrary.dll after changing the connectionstring to point to QA database and tracing and loggint paths to the new server?2. Is there anything that needs to be done with end points or anything else?
I'm trying to play with live web cam using asp.net with C#.I want to access/stream web cam content using flash then send the captured streams using Real-time Transport Protocol. How is possiable to do that?do you know any simple asp.net application related to this?
We have a swf file that we want to secure and make available only to authorized users.
I embedded the file in an aspx page and that works fine, since ASP.NET handles the aspx page, I can use ASP.NET authorization features and in the web.config restrict the access to roles="AllowedUsers" for example.
However smart users could still get to the file by accessing directly for example www.mysite/flash.swf. We want to make that kind of access secure.
I'm looking for a direct way for server-side code to access a flash shared object. Obviously you can write some javascript that can read flash shared objects via ExternalInterface. But doing that requires a client code execution, and then a push of the shared object data back to the server-side code. This seems rather complicated.
So is there a way for asp.net, php, or any other server-side script to request the data in a flash shared object?

I have a question about security. If I put the ip address and full path for my swf file which is embedded within my asp.net application I can access it. I do want anyone to access that file. The file should only be viewed upon logging in to the asp.net webportal which displays it as an embedded flash animation.
I am a student and i want to make online gaming website as a part of my academic project.
Now the problem that i am facing is that as it is an academic project i have to use downloaded swf games into my project . now i want to fetch the highest score for an individual for a particular game and i want to store that data into my database so that i can populate the list of high scorers for any particular game on my webpage.
I am trying to add flash videos to my intranet site. Instead of maintaining folders on our network with the videos in them and taking up space I am placing the videos into a SQL database that my application uses.On my video page I am using a flash control from http://www.flash-control.net/default.htmPS. I have tried the embed method with no luck. The work flow is as follows. The user logs into our site and is sent to a FAQ page. This page contains a gridview that check the DB and pulls out any entries. The user can then click on the entry in the gridview that they wish to view. If the item is a .swf video then the following happens.
I'm trying to add Embeded flash in aspx page running on iis 7.5 windows server 2008. When i'm adding the Embeded code src=/mylocation/test.swf it works fine. But when I'm adding fileserver location src="file:\c: est.swf the page doesn't load.
The code works fine in normal html file on my desktop.
I have done an multiple upload with uplodify jquery, but when i check it in a system with no flash player installed a blank area is present in the region of the uplodify flash button, how can i show the user some missing plug-in like in other sites to install latest flash player plug-in... or suggest some option to make upload possible in a button click (single/multiple) even when user don't have flash installed.
on the basis of above interact with database i also want some animated output to appear such as "smile should increase if student secure above 90 marks"or if not then "smile should decrease" hough i know it all need a huge knowledge of actionscript and asp.net along with c#...
I want upload flash file Like image into database so I used Fileupload Control to save flashfiles .SWF into host and save it into database(save name of flash file into table) like image.. but I don't know how I can bind flash files from database I put flash file with below code in my page.
Is there anything missing in IIS 6.0 that prevents me from (Insert into table) using MS-Access?
Explain: The application works fine under Visual Studio 2008 IDE the insert into table works fine with no error, Also I tested with hosting provider and works fine with no problem. but now I have published the same exact app in a dedicated server windows 2003 with IIS 6.0 .NET framework 2.0 with latest service pack I gave IIS_WPG write/modify access to the folder where MS-Access database is located and database but at the time of insert an error pop-up. I need to install in the Server or settings in the IIS to recognize my MS-Access db is it some office runtime that I am missing. (BTW I am using OLEDB connection string in my C# )
Using System.Data.OleDb;
I can retrieve data off of it with no problem but when I try to insert is when it fails I thought the problem was Access Rights but I do not think is the case.
I am working on an ASP.NET Web application and I want it to have audio playback functionality. I can do is using directories. For example, using the ASP.NET Audio control like :- , is pretty easy and straight-forward and works accordingly. But, the trouble comes when I'm using a database and the control. I am totally new to data binding in ASP.NET. I don't like using JavaScript, but i am comfortable using it, but I would prefer C# solution (I know beggars can't be choosers).
I have a database containing only one table called tblAudio. This table has two fields only for the title of the audio file (type NVARCHAR(MAX)) and the field for the actual audio (type VAR BINARY(MAX)). I'm using Visual Studio 2010 Professional with SQL Server Express Edition. The table has a single record with the relevant data in their fields.
I'm getting a strange data download from an Access database.Using Visual Web Developer 2010 Express, I created a web service that places records from an Access database in server cache and then reads the records, one at a time, from the cache. The data in the records is converted to a delimited string. The web service is called from an e-learning program called Toolbook that places Http Post calls to the web service. The web services uses vb and .Net Framework 2.0.
All works correctly with one exception. When a record in the Access db contains "&", it is downloaded to the Toolbook e-learning program as "&". If I place && in the record, I get "&&".If I download the data from the Access db using a classic.asp file rather than the web service, the "&" displays correctly.
I want a piece of code for asp.net 3.5 using visual basic. and i am using MS access database.
I have two three text boxes and 2 image upload controls and a submit button.
I want a piece of code in which a user can upload images and store it in our database . i want an asp.net visual basic working code. also i need query behind the submit button.
I have to display data (names) in a random order on the website. The data is stored in a MS Access database. The names must be displayed in a GridView and DataList in different places. I have created a query in MS Access "zorder: Rnd([MarinaAccommodation]![ID])" which works fine in MS Access giving me a different order each time.
The problem is that when I try run it on the website the order remains the same, it does not change each time the page is loaded.
I have a situation where I am accessing a database multiple times and I'm wondering if it is necessary.
I have a GridView with a template column with a hyperlink to "Get Results" and on the RowDataBound event I have it check the batch number against the database and see if results exist and then if they don't, hide the link.
So when viewing the page if there is 20 rows in the gridview it is effectively doing 20 queries.
I was wondering if it is a better idea to query the database once with all "batches" and load it into a datatable, then on the RowDataBound event query the datatable. The only issue I see with this is there is currently 40,000 batches and grows daily.
I am using ajax html editor to write a text. I can view it without having problem but I am incapeble of storing it in a Ms Access database. which type do I need to use for this? I tried memo and OleObject type and both didn't work. I used the blow code for that.
